The bathroom situation is only okay. There is a building with flush toilets nearby, but it is only open from 7:30am-9pm each day, and those times aren't set in stone. Other than that, there is one port-a-potty that could stand to be serviced more frequently than is currently scheduled. Each camping site has a water spigot, a picnic table, and a fire pit, but you need to buy firewood off-site; we found some at Lowe's. You are close to a lot of scenic drives through farm country, and we saw a lot of Amish traveling by horse and buggy on our drives. Also nearby is the city of Lancaster, which is beautiful, way bigger than anticipated, and surprisingly had several Puerto Rican restaurants. All in all this park is a great home base for a trip to Lancaster, and the camping facilities are great.

The park is dog friendly, and I spent over an hour there, just walking my dogs through the park, while the Misses took the baby to run and jump and play on the multiple playgrounds here. The itself park was donated to the Township by the late Amos Herr who was a former high school teacher and coach. His ancestors were among the earliest settlers of Landisville. The new "dream park" was almost completely financed and built by the residents of East Hempfield Township. It took them 11-days to construct the playground and it opened last year. This adorable play area includes a zip line! The astroturf is well loved and the splash pads and other play gray tires have seen better days, but while it's kinda gross to us, my dog doesn't seem to mind one bit. He's just happy to run around and chase other dogs. And I'm just happy there's a place nearby where we can let him be off leash and run as fast as he can. He's only 20 pounds so we usually stick to the park side for smaller dogs, but sometimes there aren't any littles to play with, and since our dude isn't intimidated by the bigger pups, we feel comfortable letting him play over there occasionally. If you're a stickler for rules, this isn't the park for you - people frequently take big dogs to the little dog side (sometimes they're older, have anxiety, etc.) and vice versa. As others have stated, there are tons of balls to play with and water dishes and water fountains for both people and doggos.

It's fake grass, almost like carpet, and it has NOT been upkept at all. It was packed with more dogs than I've ever seen at a dog park and nobody was paying attention to their dogs but us. Poop left everywhere, nobody picking it up. It was way too overwhelming for me and for our dog. As one of only 3 dog parks in the US that won the Benefit Dream Dog Park contest, I was so excited we were able to visit...now I wish we didn't even go.
