After over 45 years my sister thought it would be great to start skating again. When we were kids,…read morewe loved skating there. No, it's not like riding a bike. We started out hanging on the wall the first night. We were really happy when we made 1 full lap on the rink. Then managed to stay out for one full song. Now, we go Friday, Saturday and Sunday. When my body is feeling well, I don't want to get off the rink. It's our happy place together. We've had our kids and grandkids come out, friends that come out, because I don't think any of them thought we would want to keep going. Now we can't wait for Friday to get here so we can start our weekend at Overlook. The wood floors are great and the rink is large. What we love the most is the people that work there and the people that come in to skate. It feels like family. The smiles, the waves and how are you? We are always amazed at the kids that make sure to say hi every time they see us. Th DJ's are great, will play a nice mix of music, of course us older girls love rock and roll. Live organ music is our favorite, it's just wonderful. We just wanted to get back into skating and now we've added a family.

Staff was friendly and helpful!…read more There's something really special about a place that can take you straight back in time--and this roller skating rink does exactly that. The moment you walk in, it feels like stepping into the early 90s all over again. The music, the lights, the energy... it's pure nostalgia in the best way. From the classic skate rentals to the upbeat throwback jams, everything about this place reminds me of being a kid--laughing with friends, trying not to fall, and racing around the rink without a care in the world. The atmosphere is fun, welcoming, and full of life, just like it used to be. It's clean, well-run, and perfect for families, date nights, or just reliving those carefree days. Whether you grew up skating or you're new to it, this rink brings that timeless joy that never really goes away. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun night out and a little trip down memory lane.

Let's be honest most are falling down scraping your floor with the boot of the rental skates which are black hard plastic making marks. I go skating every weekend at the Gretna roller rink and wanted to try something new on a Wednesday before the weekend when I skate at Gretna. I guess you won't get our business.

What a fun throwback experience to go roller skating at Coppermine Sportsman's Hall! The parking…read morelot is huge, so it's very easy to park, and it's free parking. The place is pretty easy to find though it is unlikely you'd just happen to drive by it, as it is kind of not on the beaten path. You can purchase everything ahead of time in terms of skate rentals and entry. It's pretty reasonable for one session mid-afternoon until close in the evening, you just need one entrance ticket/fee paid. You get your money's worth for sure if you are there for hours! You can bring your own skates or rent skates here- they have regular roller skates and roller blades. Both of these are in whole sizes, no half sizes, and both of them would be best on your feet with high socks that go to your lower calves, at least. Tying them tightly gives you the best skating, but that also pinches into skin if you don't have the right socks. They have an area for parties that includes a few arcade games, but mostly, you're there to skate. There are people there who are serious skaters going wicked fast and throwing some cool tricks, but we never felt bad in any way for not being one of the super talented skaters. There's a snack bar, too, with your classic fare like burgers, hot dogs, nachos, fries and funnel cake fries. Yummy snack junk food that makes the experience all the more reminiscent of young carefree days! They have lockers for your stuff, some don't even lock, but no one seemed concerned. There are benches for sitting and changing out your shoes to skates and vice versa, and people tend to just stash their shoes under the benches rather than get a locker. A good time all around and pretty affordable if you're there for a while!

Attended a birthday party with my seven year old son at Sportsman's Hall Roller Skating…read more Upon arrival, we were greeted at the front by an employee who was solely dealing with party check in. That's a great touch, as it got us through quickly without slowing down anyone who wasn't with a party. My son was given a voucher for skates and, after greeting the party guests, we headed over to get a pair. This was easy. He was in a pair of skates that fit in like two minutes. I planned on just sort of hanging with him but was informed outside shoes could not be on the skate floor. This was his first time so I sort of let him go and...it wasn't good. Thankfully there was a referee who helped him return to me. At this point I decided to get him a skate pal and rented my own pair of skates (both of which were super reasonable prices). The skating rink seemed to be in mostly good shape. There were a couple questionable spots. The rink has a DJ, snack bar and some games that people can play when not skating. The food was fine. The games were fine as well. Neither was spectacular. The host that was connected to our party was very attentive and accommodating. She explained everything that she was doing (almost too much). The one negative is the bathrooms. They are not very conducive to beginning skaters. Trying to keep my son from falling and conking his head on the toilet was a bit of a chore. Taking skates on and off is also a hassle and there isn't really anywhere to store them in or around the bathroom. I'm not sure what the solution is but, just know, bathroom going at the rink while wearing skates can be an adventure. Overall I thought Sportsman's Hall Roller Skating was a fine place to attend a kids birthday party.

Not helpful at all to beginners and act like you should just know what you're doing if you come to this establishment. ***Our BLACK FAMILY was HARRASSED and RACIALLY PROFILED ***…read moreSarah was aggressive, dismissive, and unwilling to listen when we explained that the young man was not a minor, as she claimed. Despite his attempt to present valid identification proving he was 21 years old, Sarah refused to believe it, mocked the situation using air quotes about his "real age," and continued to escalate the issue. Once it became clear she could not justify her claim about his age, she abruptly shifted her reasoning, stating that he was not "chaperoning a child" and had to leave. The young man, like the rest of us, was a paying customer. He had purchased both entry and skate rental. There was absolutely no justification for the treatment he received--other than the fact that he is a young Black man. What made this even more painful was the clear contrast in how our white friend, who also had no skates and remained seated at our table, was completely ignored and never harassed by staff. The racial bias and discrimination from Sarah, the security guard, and other staff members were blatant. The overall environment was hostile, disrespectful, and unsafe. We ultimately made the decision to leave as a group, feeling dehumanized and unwelcome. To add further insult, the young man who had paid for entry and skate rentals was treated as if he were not a legitimate customer. The staff, including the girl at the skate rental window, were disrespectful when attempting to return our shoes, even citing minor issues like not "tucking" the laces into the skates. We were only at the facility for about an hour in total, but it was enough time to experience clear racial profiling, harassment, and unprofessional behavior by the staff. This is not the kind of experience any paying customer should ever endure.
