Quilting is great fun and a wonderful learning experience. Over the Top Quilting Studio gives you a great creative outlet where you can learn new skills, meet wonderful people, and discover talents you may not have known you had. I never realized how much I could create with just squares, rectangles, and fabric. It's amazing how color placement can completely transform a design and make it come alive. If you enjoy puzzles or building with Legos, quilting offers that same sense of creativity, problem-solving, and satisfaction while giving you something beautiful to show for it at the end. And don't worry if you know absolutely nothing about quilting or have never touched a sewing machine. Just ask my daughters--they can tell you where we all started! If we can learn it, anyone can. read more

The service here is beyond awesome and the atmosphere is one of creative juices. These ladies rock.

The most supportive, patient and competent staff. New owner Kim and her team are continuing on the path of making us all great quilters one quilt top at a time. I am especially thankful for Tina taking the time to help me make edits to my pantograph pattern sine my quilt was a little wonky on one edge. I also witnessed the staff supporting another quilter and making quilting accessible to her by bringing a rolling chair and lowering the machine down for her reach. That goes a long way in my book. read more

What a fabulous pair Susan and Chris are! Fantastic, friendly, and fun. They were also knowledgeable and very happy to share that knowledge. The shop is like an art gallery, schedule an extra half an hour to walk around and admire the stunning quilts on display. Terrific service, a fantastic selection of machines, and great value at the end of the day. read more

After an 11 year break from quilting, I finally finished several quilts/projects and have enjoyed starting several new ones,as well. That's why I decided to take this certification class to learn how to use Over the Top Quilting's long-arm sewing machine(s) and be able to rent time on the long-arm machines--finishing current and future quilts!!! Susan was a great teacher! She was very friendly, patient, encouraging and professional. Three hours went by quickly and I felt confident In using the machines in the future. I look forward to next time when I finally get to finish my Thimbleberries quilt (I had no idea how HUGE it was when I started the Block-of-the-Month club in 2009). I'd definitely recommend Over The Top Quilting to anyone interested in using long-arm sewing machines (to rent or buy). read more

Just a quick thank you to Over the Top Quilting Studio, Susan and Chris, and the staff overall. First, they have a great beginners course on long arm quilting. If you are new to quilting or new to long arm, it is SO fun and you learn so much! Second, they have just about every type of machine you could need. Big quilt whole cloth designs, simple, free motion, and computerized software to help you make it perfect - they have it all. Third, their prices are so affordable. Only $25/hour to work on these beautiful machines that a lot of us can't afford or don't have space for living in a city that is so otherwise expensive. Not only that, you are not alone. Susan, Chris, and their entire staff are masters at these machines and Johnny on the spot to help you with any trouble you might run into. I have learned SO much from them. And by the time you do feel like you can afford one and have the space for one, when you do buy from them, you are going to know exactly what you are doing and they are still always there for support, unlike buying a machine straight from a manufacturer or from a store that just has a sales person, but no one who is so passionately into long arm quilting and knowledgeable about your specific machine that they can help you when you get stuck. If you have a loved one who loves to quilt, buy them the intro class for long arm quilting (that is what my husband did). They will totally love it and you will be able to get them out of the house all day Saturday so you can watch your college football game in peace! Over the Top has become such a special community to me that I just wanted to take some time to share it with others. Susan and Chris can also do the quilting for you. Just come in and tell them the design and what you are looking for and they will take it from there. They are masters at what they do. Absolutely perfect! read more

I joined the world of quilters in September of 2020. My husband gave me the rental certification class at Over the Top Quilting as a Christmas gift. I've been renting their APQS longarms since then and so could not speak more highly of the owners and staff. They are amazingly patient and kind. They are simply incredible at hand holding - and they do a LOT of it when I come in. They have a great selection of wide backs and batting. Their prices are extremely reasonable. If you aren't sure how long a project is going to take - I would definitely suggest renting the whole day instead of a few hours as it's a nice discount on the hourly rental price! Highly, highly recommend! read more

Stellar customer service, everyone is so helpful. The selection of machines, quilting patterns and thread colors are great.

I had an amazing experience working with Over the Top Quilting Studio. I had a college t-shirt quilt made by these talented women and cannot recommend them enough. When I reached out with an initial inquiry, the studio was quick to respond and set up a consultation. When I did go to my consultation, the ladies were thorough, answered any questions I had, and gave me an honest and accurate quote and estimated time for completion. It felt like a collaborative creative effort throughout the entire process, and the final product was top-notch thanks to their amazing talents! read more

This place has so much to offer. Here are the top 12 things I think you need to know about Over The Top. Don't have time to read this novella? Drop by and check them out. This studio is equipped with several state of the art AMERICAN MADE long arm quilting machines that a person can rent by the hour after taking a rental certification class. They offer excellent support and they even let you use Quilt Path which comes with hundreds of designs. What's Quilt Path? A fantastic and easy to use quilt automation program that guides the quilting machine if free motion isn't your thing. They have a broad selection of batting on the roll with different fibers and colors. There is no need to buy in advance and steam out the wrinkles. Don't feel like piecing that quilt back on Friday night before your Saturday AM rental? No problem, these ladies have literally "got your back" with a well curated selection of wide fabrics (including cuddle) that you can choose from when you get there. Did you forget to bring thread? Or maybe you changed your mind once you started loading your quilt top? Every single thread color you can imagine can be found about 5 steps from that front door. High quality and at an excellent price. I'd put the price here but you wouldn't believe me, it's that good. Oh and if you choose from the popular colors they have preloaded on bobbins there is no charge for thread at all. Bonus! What? You don't even feel like loading your quilt - you just want to walk in and get to the stitching? These ladies totally get that. They have a valet service where you drop off your quilt top a few days in advance and when you come in for your rental that baby will be loaded and ready to rock. There is a fee, but you'll make some of that back with the money you save on the rental fee. You'll make the rest back in the time you saved outside the studio to prep the quilt. Just pull up that bobbin thread, lock your stitch, and get to it! Plan to use Quilt Path and want to make good use of your time while you wait in between quilt advances? Bring your domestic machine and your next project. They have tables, chairs, power, ironing boards, and hot irons waiting for you. You only pay for the time you use. If you book 5 hours and only use 4, you pay for 4. Maybe you're not a confident long armer like Angela Walters or your other favorite long arm celebrity. Me either. Don't worry. This is a very supportive and safe community where you can learn. Help is only a few steps away. They offer a rich variety of sewing and quilting classes. If you sew you should check out their website to learn what they are offering in the coming weeks. It's likely they have something that will appeal to you. They sell long arm quilting machines and let me tell you, when I'm ready I will totally buy from these ladies, because an investment like this requires a good relationship with the dealer in order to be happy and successful with the purchase. These are wonderful, knowledgable, and kind people. It matters. They will make custom quilts for you - from t-shirt quilts to something pieced with modern or traditional fabrics. They'll quilt your quilt for you if you don't enjoy that part of the process. Sounds amazing right? It's all true! So stop mailing your quilts out to some long armer you've never met. Quilts are very personal treasures. Do it yourself or at least keep the business in your community. You won't regret it. read more

Over The Top Quilting Studio has exceeded my expectations! I am a relative newcomer to the quilting world, and was a bit intimidated by long arm quilting machines. Still, I wanted to quilt my projects myself. I appeared at the studio with zero knowledge about these machines and Susan, Chris, Jen, Theresa and Pat guided me through the entire process! When I made an error or got stuck, one of these fabulous coaches showed me how to get back on track. The machines were in very good working order and the facility is clean and organized. I walked out of the Studio with a smile on my face and two fabulous quilts that I believe appear to have been professionally finished. It was a very enjoyable experience! read more

I am incredibly grateful to Chris and all the ladies at Over the Top Quilting Studio for making such beautiful quilts for my family.
