We've been coming here for several years now and it's my wife's absolute favorite pizza in the area. It's become a pizza movie night tradition for our family read more

Wonderful selection of local brews on tap with good variety and traditional standbys in cans and bottles. "Pinsa" (pizza) was quality with good crust, tasty sauce, and generous cheese for an italian style pie. My date got the arugula heavy pie and I got the meatlovers. I recommend choosing a more "italian" style pie for a superior product. I was underwhelmed by my pie, but thought my date's was quite good. The restaurant features a semi unique ordering process where you order and pay via QR code. The menu available via QR code did not have pictures so it felt like I was choosing my food "in the blind". Then you receive a text message to retrieve your food (if outside) or the wait staff brings it to you (inside). I was not a huge fan of the process but I can see the utility and efficacy of the system. The staff was large and helpful. One staffer went above and beyond to bring us our food even though we sat outside. If sitting outside, you'll need bugspray. The interior of the restauraunt was quite loud and had a bit of an echo effect, even when only 1/3 full. Overall impression: good food, good beer, good staff. Unique ordering process, sit outside. read more

I can't even say enough amazing things about this spot!!! We go on a regular basis ! Great food great service amazing beers on tap ! The outside is so fun for families welcoming kids and dogs even. Highly highly recommend read more

Delicious inventive, cross between pizza and flatbread. Local beers on tap. Clean. Warm and efficient staff. Very welcoming.

Their Pinsas are good, but the ordering, disposable plastic everything is just not a pleasant experience for a night out with your date or friends. Just a really cheap feel to it. Shame, because the food is good. read more

The Pinsa is amazing. Great place to hang outside on with family or friends. Love entertainment in addition to lawn games. Nice to have an outside bar. A MUST. read more

Really good pizzas, the ordering process is unique but I really enjoyed it. Highly recommend their Greek pizza super good! Great place to have a little pizza and hangout. read more

Love the pizza and salads! Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Convenient ways to order. Great specials.

The only reason for the 4 stars is the sizes have gotten smaller since opening. Esp the salads. 4.8/5 stars! Great environment, great family place. Takeout is easy on their app and we can save our favs. It's a must go to!! read more

I love this place! Fresh food, fast service, and amazing ambiance! There is an outdoor seating and indoor seating! Their food is delicious! Definitely 5/5! read more

Came here the other night with friends. It was very busy but we got seated immediately (6 of us). The pizza was very good. I ordered the Greek pizza and honestly it was a little much with all of the toppings and olives but I tried other friends' pizza slices and they were bomb. I really liked the outdoor atmosphere. My buddy ordered a dessert pizza and it was ahhhmazzzing. We will be back! read more

We moved into an over 55 community right next to Oval & Ale; in fact we take our golf cart here, and in the two months we've lived here we probably have been to Oval&Ale at least 10 times. It is in mine and my wife's opinion the BEST pizza (pinsa) we EVER had. The crust is supurb..thin, crispy, but not burnt and the toppings are generous. They just had as a special the Maryland Crab pinsa, and my wife said it was the best she ever had anywhere...I had a piece and it was delicious. My wife can eat a large pinsa herself, and she weighs under 120 pounds..that's how much she likes it. I also had their greek salad...and the side greek salad is huge and fresh. Our neighbors from our previous community visited us a few weeks ago and we all got pinsas...a white pinsa, a veggie pinsa, a meat lovers, and some others I don't remember...everyone raved about the food! Plus they have a great craft beer selection on draft, as well as Bud Lite and Michalob Ultra and they do have wine but no hard liquor. The outside is very nice, and we usually sit out there when it's nice; they have a small bar where you can get some of the craft beer on draft and order food, plus plenty of activites for kids. You can also order food from your tables...many picnic tables with umbrellas. Yes there are flies..you're outside in the summer with food...you don't want flies sit inside...they also have a screened in room in the front of the restaurant. Live entertainment outside too on certain days. Overall this is one of our favorite places, their staff is friendly and accomodating, and they RECYCLE their plastic beer glasses which they use outside, as well as their pizza (pinsa) boxes. And no..I'm NOT an employee and have no connection to the restaurant except being a customer. read more

Great Pinsa and beer! Outdoor seating . Did not completely dig the In restaurant online ordering, but waitstaff was very supportive Z

In a word: phenomenal. The food is incredible, the portions are hefty, the prices are reasonable, the servers are friendly- what else could you want in a restaurant?!? Christy greeted us and gave us the DL on ordering (you pick a table and scan the QR code so you can order at your leisure). She gave us a taste of the 2 pumpkin beers, gave us some recs on the menu. The pretzel was ::chef's kiss::, the salad was fresh and a meal in itself, and the pinsas were amazing- definitely try the saltimbocca pinsa. read more

We went here for the vegan pizza and we were not disappointed! So good! We ordered twice in one week.

This is a fairly new very innovative restaurant with a variety of menu choices.. the pinsa is pizza with many different toppings of your choice.. I love that they use TOAST to order food pay your bill and many other options. It has an indoor area and a very family friendly outdoor spot.. the owners are amazing.. always stopping to chat and make sure everything is ok.. I recommend Oval and Ale to all my friends.. if you want a place to play games eat some great food and hang out with friends this is the place for you.. the pretzels are yummy and the kids love it too... make it a regular weekly hang out with the people you love Wish I could give it more stars Barbara Raynor read more

Wow! If you want to experience a family owned eatery with 5 star unique pizza, outdoor seating, live music... this is the place! Jamie and Donna, the owners, are Hampstead locals and really cater to you! Attention to detail, great food, great vibes. read more

We tried this tonight, there seems to be so much hype and it always looks packed. We got a to-go order; glad we did as the inside is more bar than restaurant - fine, just not our vibe. I had the margarita pizza...it was okay, nothing to write home about. The crust is interesting, I dont love that its made with soy flour per their website. We got a jumbo pretzel it was great! However, husband got the meat lovers pizza and has food poisoning now so we wont be eating here again. Before it made him sick he thought it was unimpressive and the meatball/sausage was bland. The sizes are also very small on the pizzas. read more

Oval and Ale is what Hampstead needs. Great pizza, cold beer, excellent outside dining area with entertainment stage, outside games. Well ventilated attached outside dining area and a very nice clean and well organized inside area. Excellent selection of cold drafts! Pizza is a nice thin crust made with quality toppings. They understand customer service!!! read more

This place has great food. And a very friendly staff. Bands on the weekends and firepits. Love the atmosphere!

I have been going to Oval and Ale for over a year, so I am a little behind on posting my review. Obviously I have been back many times and have never had a bad meal. I love the outdoor seating. Best pizza we've eaten in our almost 73 years! If you like thin-crust pizza, this is your place. Fresh ingredients, fabulous fresh Greek salad. Fast, efficient service. Great, happy, family atmosphere. Live music outside, patio for eating and listening, porch and indoor seating as well. Well worth the half-hour trip! This will be our go-to pizza place from now on. read more

Super impressed with the customer service and efficiency of Oval and Ale!!! I was skeptical to go with a bigger group since they just opened but it turned out amazing! They were able to accommodate our party of 18. Our food came out quickly and it was delicious! My picky 11-year-old and 13-year-old asked for seconds and we ended up ordering more pizza to take home for tomorrow! The local beer was fresh on tap and the outdoor atmosphere was perfect for the spring night! It's so exciting that Hampstead has a fun new place to enjoy! read more

See all

friendly faces, place was nicely decorated and fresh food ingredients were on my so call pizza or should I say Penza, they failed on the bread, sorry but it was like eating sawdust. dough was dry and it had no taste to the whole thing. beautiful created but they should really add olive oil to the crust before baking it. not soft at all. I had high hope that we finally found a pizza place with what we r use to( New Yorkers of course) but they failed but good luck hope it changes ! and there cannoli dessert. was again same crust set out like a pizza pie. ugh oh how I miss New York cannolis. read more

Amazing Pinza. Always have to get the Bruschetta. Great for people like me who prefer no red sauce as there are other options aside from the red sauce base. read more

Really happy to have this new spot in Hampstead! The food was delicious with great variety of topping on their pizzas. Even my 4 year old was a big fan of the food, which is always a win with us! The outdoor space is great for families and has the option for the kids to play and enjoy themselves. Their beer selection was also nice and we discovered two delicious beers (Red Oak lager and Flying Machine scotch ale). The staff was also friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to returning here! read more

Our meals were good. I had the bbq chicken pizza. It was a tad burnt. The Greek salad was very tasty. The iced tea was ok. The tea was barely drinkable. My daughter had the kid's pizza, and she liked mine better. I don't remember what my husband had, but he said it was good. All in all a pleasant experience. We may go back. read more

First time here.....on the David Portnoy, Barstool pizza scale (8.3 is Brooklyn-quality)...the pizza was an 8.3 ( you know the drill, great crunch, great undercarriage. ...fantismo...meatball app was amazing and the caprese salad was outstanding (balsamic drizzle amazing) read more

We absolutely love Oval and Ale. Every pizza we've had is delicious! My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken! It is divine with the blue cheese and celery on the pizza. Wow! The Chicken Bacon Ranch is also incredible... Really you can't go wrong here. We do lots of pick up and it's always been good. They're timing is right on and it keeps really well for leftovers. read more

The pizza is delicious. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch and it was so delicious. The staff is friendly. Lots of seating options to include the outside covered porch with heaters. It is so cozy! Haven't been yet to hear the live music and sit outside but will now that we are getting warmer weather. This is a must to try if you like pizza. read more

We have driven by many times and finally stopped in to give them a try. I have no idea what took us so long! We were pleasantly surprised at how good these pinsas were. I had a white pie with ricotta, just the right amount of garlic and mozzarella. I opted not to have the Roma tomatoes that normally come on it. It was thin and perfectly cooked and the small was just the right size for myself. My husband got the meat lovers which he was equally impressed with. What a perfect addition to our little Hampstead. Will definitely be regulars now! read more

We went to Oval and Ale for the first time on 3/26 - The pinsas were really great!!! Great atmosphere and everyone was so nice and accommodating! We'll be back and bringing our friends!! Highly recommend!! Thanks again! read more

Delicious new spin on pizza. Went there on a cool Sat. Night. Got 2 pinsas to share (prochuto & meat lovers) as well as a giant Greek Salad. Nice thin Flatbread style crust. Oval in shape 6 slices per.... nice selection of local microbrews (New Anthem, salty turtle, ILM Brewing, Bill's, etc) 3 spaces to eat- front 1/2 encloses porch w/ heaters, interior w/ small bar & a great rear courtyard. We sat in private area w/ gas firetable. Also wood fire pits & lots of picnic tables. Surprisingly US17 road noise was negligible. Also- staff checked in twice to ask about food, etc...good service. Will definitely return. read more

My family came here on New Year's Day and really enjoyed the outside atmosphere. We will definitely be returning.
