Read the reviews for this place and decided to try since we were craving NY cuisine. We walked in around 7:15-7:20 and saw they closed at 8pm. Our food took a little longer than should, but don't mind if it is fresh and tasty. The cashier informed us that our pizza fries didn't have salami so we opted for the pastrami offered. We got our order about 7:50pm and began to eat at the table. About 5 min before close (7:55pm), the cashier approaches our table to inform us they close at 8pm; thus, we need to leave at this time. Some other details to provide is three other orders came in after us and one table was still there without their food yet. We left a minute before 8pm and the table was still there without their food and no employees rushing them out. The fried items we had tasted off. You could tell the fry oil was old and not changed out. The ranch was clumpy and sour. The meats were dry on our hot sandwiches. I would have love to given a review that they hit it "outta" the park, but they really should get "outta" here. Not the experience we expected to have and will not be venturing back. read more

This reminded me of a Charlie's solely based on on the sandwich I got. It's a small shop and the staff is very nice, family owned business. I got fried pickles which were came out hot (just how I like them), but they lacked seasoning and had too much breading in my opinion. The sandwich was similar to a Charlie's Philly cheesesteak which was very basic to me. The bread was fresh, not sure why it had Mayo, liked the two cheeses, overall nothing exciting it almost needed seasoning or au-jus... something. I almost may move to PHX just because of it. My son wanted fish and chips, but since they were out, we subbed for the shrimp and chips. Basically, there is a god because he ran a train on it and he doesn't even like shrimp. The sign says they are supposed to open at 11:00AM. I don't know if their clocks were 20 minutes behind but they saw me standing outside and didn't come open the door until "their chef got there". Mistakes happen so we called to address it and received a cold response, the runaround to receive a refund and not even as much as an apology. Sorely disappointed! ***** This restaurant is such an awesome find! It's a small business with wonderful food and friendly service. We've been here twice and each experience was five star worthy! Everything we've had was exceptionally tasty and portion sizes are good. Why I can't judge a store by the smell, I will never know... Corned beef sandwich - meat tasted like packaged Hormel, no flavor, no actual beef tearing just like bologna, processed nasty. The sauerkraut was bland, whatever dressing or sauce was minimal as I had to take a drink with every bite to wash it down. The store is in the middle of trashtastic Phoenix homeless everywhere and walking on the sidewalk makes you want to sanitize your shoes when getting back in your car. Hidden gem not to be overlooked. STOP and EAT HERE!! We picked this place at random and we totally lucked out. It's tucked in between an alcohol store and a dog treat store, so it is easy to drive on by, but DON'T! Jose, at the order counter, was spot on with the customer service. The hoagie roll on the cowboy was on point - crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside - while the BBQ sauce was tangy and didn't drown out the meat. Topped with just enough melty cheese and jalepeno slices to make it interesting. My Reuben was so flavorful. The rye bread was so fresh and the meat was thinly sliced and toasted. Bravo!! The highlight for me though was the order of FRIED PICKLES!! OMG!! The batter was perfect - thin, not overwhelming, and the perfect compliment to the dill sliced pickle chips. I will be going back just for the fried pickles! The onion rings were also fantastically delicious. I wish we could say the pizza fries were all we expected, but they fell short. Unfortunately, with all that delicious meaty marinara sauce on top, not to mention a generous portion of pepperoni and melty cheese, the crunch factor in the french fries just didn't stand a chance. While running errands in central Phoenix I found myself looking to the Yelp app to find something unique, different and good... and I definitely would say that out of the Bronx hit the spot. It's a small shop located in the small plaza off of McDowell next to a liquor store but once you walk thru the front doors, the ambiance shifts and takes you back to NYC. The place isn't super big but that's OK as you can smell the variety of different food being cooked for orders to go and for people who are sitting down. I went with the fat stack sandwich which included French fries sausage, chopped beef and a few other things along with a nice aioli sauce on top.
