Returning to the B&B, I decided to research the restaurant. I found the website, and searched the menu and reservations. The website said closed, and no reservations available.I thought it odd that the information was in conflict, so I called. I received confirmation that the were open, and made a reservation. After arriving that evening, we were told we needed to wait awhile because the server was busy. We waited patiently for about twenty minutes to be seated. After finally being seated, we waited again to order. The place was very busy for a Wednesday evening. After all the waiting, I started to wonder it this would be worth it. Finally, the meals came. The food was very good as was the service. After the meal, the waitress coherced us into the cheesecake for desert. She said - if we liked - she could serve us on the patio. The sun was setting, and the weather was beautiful, so we took her up on it. What began as a question marked evolved into an exclamation mark. The cheesecake with blueberry compote was Devine. Was it worth the wait? Yes, for the cheesecake alone. If you are visiting the Mt. Lassen area, this place is a must. Barring the inaccuracies of the website, the experience was wonderful. I could rate the restaurant a four, for the error, but they get a six for the cheesecake, so five it is.

It's now called Christy's and today's experience was awful. We arrived a little after 10 and were seated out back right away and brought menus and water. Almost 30 minutes go by as we're watching the two servers serve, seat and take orders from people - everyone except us. Once our order was finally taken, we learn they're out of bacon and sausage which is an option for one of our meals (canadian bacon and chorizo were available but we don't like either so not an option for us). While that was a bummer, at least our order was taken. Another 20+ minutes go by, and there is now another table seated just near us and the woman who seated us is bringing them drinks and menus and takes their order within a few minutes of them being seated. We hear her telling them about the special which we weren't told about. As she was walking away from them, I asked her if our server was her or the man who eventually took our order and she told me "whoever is available" is our server. I'm not sure if the person in charge is aware of the poor customer service here but a couple of other tables were showing signs of frustration, too. After waiting for another 20'ish minutes and still no food, we let our servers (?) know we decided to leave and we had a picnic at the lake with stuff we brought. Very enjoyable - I highly recommend it. On our way out, I saw the server tell the kitchen we left and everyone looking surprised. A woman was looking at me so I asked if there was someone available to listen about why we're leaving and a different woman stepped forward and listened. She offered to make it right, we told her we'd already been here almost an hour with no food so it's too late for us, but we thanked her for listening and left. We don't come this way often and I don't think we'd try again now that it's a new owner. All that said, the patio is a lovely spot for a meal with a view.

I ate the fries and tomatoes and took the other half of the sandwich home so my husband would have a midnight snack. The other half can't possibly be as bad. WRONG ! It really was. The entire " steak" was inedible. $23 and all I could eat was the fries. I also asked for AuJus to dip my sandwich in and boy, even that wouldn't have helped. A vat of battery acid may not have done it either. Will we come back to M&M ? Absolutely! The waitress was wonderful and for the most part the food was too. I should have brought the steak to the attention of the staff but I didn't. I just wanted to go home. Any restaurant could have had the same issue. Although I do think the cook should have noticed the fat in the steak when putting the sandwich together. Great place with really good food and a honey clean environment in which to eat it.

On our drive home Sunday morning, we decided to make a stop in Oroville and try Big Foot Eats. What a fantastic decision! From the moment we walked through the front door, we were warmly greeted and shown to a comfortable booth. The restaurant is spacious, exceptionally clean, and has a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. Then we met Elena, our server--and what a gem she is! Elena was attentive, friendly, genuinely kind, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Since it was our first visit, we asked her about some of their most popular breakfast and lunch dishes. She patiently walked us through the options, and she certainly knew how to make a recommendation! She sold me on the Idaho Omelette--and I'm so glad she did. This delicious creation was packed with bacon, onions, and Cheddar Jack cheese, stuffed with crispy tater tots, drizzled with sour cream, and topped with green onions. Talk about comfort food taken to another level! Jennifer went with the Western Burger, featuring a perfectly cooked beef patty, bacon, American cheese, Bigfoot onions, and a delicious BBQ drizzle. "Scrumdidlieumptious!" is about all we could muster as our taste buds were doing backflips! Every bite of Jennifer's burger was outstanding. The ingredients were top-notch, everything was cooked to perfection, and the combination of flavors was fantastic. My Idaho Omelette was every bit as delicious and satisfying. But what made our experience even more special was Elena herself. She wasn't simply our server--she was a true ambassador for Big Foot Eats. Her warmth and genuine hospitality made us feel like we were visiting an old friend rather than simply stopping in for a meal. We also learned that Elena and her mother run the restaurant together, which made our experience feel even more personal. And, as is so often the case, my wife chose the right place! I have a feeling the Oroville community already knows what a special place this is, but for those who don't: Big Foot Eats is truly a Diamond in the Rough! The flavors of the meal were delicious! I loved the pulled pork, fried onions and bbq sauce toppings but the dish was a bit of a let down because the Mac and cheese was cold under the toppings. It took awhile for our food to come out so I didn't feel like returning it, but I was a little disappointed. The portion sizes on every meal that our table ordered was huge, I don't think anyone finished their meal so keep in mind you could share and still have plenty! I would not hesitate to visit Bigfoot Eats again, despite my cold noodles, because there's a lot on the menu I'd love to try!
