I chose to make this vegetarian. So fresh!
    Catherine W.

Opportunity presented itself and stopped in. What a treat. Great outdoor space with shade, minimal yet substantial food options and coffee for sure. That pour over and ice coffee delicious! Ordered a breakfast burrito (breakfast served all day is a no brainer). Reid was kind, warm and helpful. As Jason cooked made to order (not this premade rubbish, no offense). Have your next meet up here, or just get out of the heat with a treat.

    Chorizo tacos

This is a new place to eat and drink next door. I had the chorizo tacos and they were okay, not Mexican food but it wasn't bad. They have a few other items on the menu but I won't be coming back, not my type of food. Covered tables outside to eat and enjoy your food and drinks.

Food: delicious, Services: great, super friendly and fast. Ambience: clean and very relax. Good parking. GPS confusing but we found it. Great coffee!!!

Stopped in to try the new place. Wasn't very hungry,, but saw some nachos go by and decided we needed to get them. They were delicious. All freshly made ingredients. We ordered a coffee, but neither of us are a big fan of pour-overs because they always seem a little watery. Flavor was good, just not what we like. Also saw the chicken sandwich and will try that next time.

Absolutely delicious cafe - we had the breakfast sandwich and the hash. Both were delicious. It is dog friendly and has a cute little outdoor space in the back. We were really happy to have stopped by!

Gluten free strawberry scone + latte = delightful!!

This was such a nice surprise! Stopped by on our way out of town and wish we'd come sooner! Excellent gluten free options - the scones were pitch perfect - flavorful, flaky but not too crumbly, the right amount of moisture - and the smoothest iced coffee I've had in a long while. Plus: dog friendly, outdoor covered seating options, and the owner was really friendly and won our crazy yorkies over with treats. Just an overall great experience! Highly recommend.

    Beet and Arugula Salad

Such a cute cafe / quaint kitchen with large patio spaces (picnic tables with shade) out front and back, with a spacious parking area and a clean restroom. The Breakfast Sandwich was delicious -- especially the crispy bacon. The Beet & Arugula Salad was refreshing and their coffee drinks were delightful. Staff were super friendly. Overall a cute, clutch pitstop close to the Joshua Tree camping grounds. ** Note: Apple Maps says Outpost is closed on Sundays for some reason, but they definitely are open!

    Chicken chipotle tacos

Cute little place the owner is very nice making sure we enjoyed our meals. I thought this was a breakfast bakery and got my hopes high on a fresh baked good to kick off Mother's Day weekend. Sadly there was none! But the chipotle tacos were delicious.

Stopped in for coffee before heading to the park. We got a cold brew and a pour over. For the pour over, there were a couple of options. I was really impressed with the service. The pour over is made on the counter right in front of you. Highly recommend for anyone who is into coffee and wants to know about their coffee roaster or tasting notes. The views outside has lots of seating and great views. Don't miss this place. It's for true coffee lovers.

Chipotle Chicken Sandwich (gluten free with added bacon)

Though I tried to go for coffee I wasn't convincing enough until a late lunch. Ohhh I am so glad we got in there before they closed. We are going back as soon as possible!!! I had the chipotle chicken sandwich (gluten free and added bacon) and some gf fries and this was not an ordinary sandwich. That chicken!!! The FLAVORS!!! I left with food on my shirt because I ate like an animal after one bite. It looked insta ready and tasted even better!!! Not an all show no go sandwich and I can't wait for our next visit. To add to that magnificent sandwich the FRIES!!! Oh my word THE FRIES!!!!!!! Perfectly crispy on the outside with that perfect potato middle that had baked potato texture with fry crust... this is was what fries are supposed to be!!!!!!!! Add to that the pepper and flake salt The lemonade tastes like actually fresh squeezed lemons!!! Though he did inform me he did not squeeze them there himself I went for the tacos got a sandwich and was NOT disappointed!!! Can't recommend this place enough. The food is truly unbelievably good and the service was so personal and friendly too! The atmosphere was chill and easygoing with views that breathe life into you. You can't go wrong with this place!!!!

    Breakfast Burrito

Not a lot of options in the area and this place had a great pour over and burrito. We went for breakfast but would be a great spot for lunch or just a pit stop along the way. Great service and a cute area.

    The Breakfast Sandwich

Delicious. I love the spacious eating area and the coffee and breakfast were amazing. They really think through the food - so much flavor and beautiful ingredients.

My husband and I came here while on vacation (after spending the day in Joshua Tree National Park). We chose it based on the good reviews and it lived up to expectations. We started with the fries, which stayed nice and crispy (I suggest you follow the server's recommendation and get the habanero sauce so you can double dip in that and the ketchup). I had the delicious Dank House salad. It sounded like an odd combination of flavors (with Brussels sprouts, beets, apples, blue cheese and horseradish dressing) but it all works! Genius! My husband had the rotating chicken sando which was Korean bbq inspired and had amazing flavor! We also had a couple of the local beers on tap. It's kind of a quirky place. Has a little bit of a diner feel on the inside but had a DJ playing music on Saturday evening, which provided some good background music and added to the ambiance without being too loud. The bartender and servers were all very friendly and helpful. If we lived here, this would be a weekly hang out spot for us!

We ordered: +a slice of banana bread - this was wet and soggy, so not sure how this is even available for sale +a slice of carrot cake - this was extremely dense and decadent, and good for any carrot cake lover +an oatmeal cookie - large and had a nice crisp/chewy texture +a chive scone - super dried out and had absolutely no flavor +a hibiscus drink - super weird beverage; not sure if it was mixed with something, but it was not enjoyable +and, a milk tea - this milk tea was not prepared well; contained some pearls I was curious about their sandwiches and their pizzas, but the latter is only sold as a whole, and not by the slice. All in all, we felt that the items were misses; not worth waiting it out unless you are spending a few days in the area or are a local. The restaurant itself is simple and inviting, understated in the best way. We didn't have reservations, so we sat at the bar, despite several empty tables giving us that "maybe we could have gambled" feeling. Still, the bar turned out to be a good perch for the evening. Kristin, if I caught her name correctly, was running the universe behind that bar. Mixing drinks, serving dinner, managing patrons, and somehow still staying friendly through it all. Watching bartenders during dinner rushes always feels a little like witnessing Olympic-level multitasking. I was especially excited to order the hearts of palm cakes because hearts of palm were a staple in my childhood home. Sadly, they were out of them. A small heartbreak occurred. I survived bravely. Roadtrip mode had fully turned us into tapas people by then, so we ordered a spread of appetizers and a salad to share. The Inn's famous sautéed mushrooms absolutely deserved their reputation, buttery, garlicky, lemony little flavor bombs. The toasted ravioli with house marinara disappeared quickly, the beet and orange salad was fresh and balanced, and the falafel bites were tasty, though I personally would have loved them just a bit crispier. I enjoyed a couple of Old Fashioneds, and the live music that evening was genuinely excellent. The woman performing had one of those voices that makes you stop mid-bite for a second just to listen. Not bad company for dinner. The only thing I wish they'd improve is accessibility. The atmosphere is wonderfully peaceful, but a bit more consideration for guests with mobility challenges would go a long way in making that peace more inclusive. Overall, we really enjoyed our evening. Good food, good music, strong cocktails, desert night air, and that slow-roadtrip feeling where nobody's in a hurry anymore.

Attached to the Twenty Nine Palms Inn, the restaurant offered more options for different eaters: a few salads, burgers, specialties and sandwiches. High marks for the grunt burger, Porto burger, and fish tacos (not huge) and the oasis bowl was good. Prices were also not exorbitant, likely because the sandwiches and burgers didn't come with sides. They have both indoor and covered outdoor seating. We thought the service would be slow as we sat outside and seated ourselves but it wasn't bad. The server was nice; when our side orders were forgotten at first, it was quickly rectified when we pointed it out. The bathroom was clean and had adequate aeration. They close 4 and 5 pm, between lunch and dinner. It was quiet when we arrived which was a nice respite.
