He is one of rockstar winemakers in Napa and such a nice person. Julien pours his passion for winemaking into his wine and his shop. He has a terrific selection of his wines available to taste. His staff is also friendly and knowledgeable. We tasted some wines that were some of the best wines we have experienced. First off I have to mention that the staff is not only super knowledgeable but friendly and humble. Prime Cellars is one of two brands being tasted at this location, the other being Trahan Winery. They each seem to have a Yelp page though both wineries are in the one tasting room. Ill post this review on the Trahan page as well. We chose to taste their current releases which was a pretty diverse selection of whites and reds from both wineries including a very good Pinot Noir from Trahan Winery. We were also kind of blown away by the Trahan Petit Verdot. Sold! Ended up with a bottle of each. In most tasting rooms the winery usually only provides one glass. Not at Prime, they go the extra step and pair their wines with the appropriate style of wine glass. We actually asked about this and was offered a side by side of the Trahan Pinot with in two different styles of glasses. Yes, two completely different glasses, same wine, two completely different experiences. So when you're doing your tasting be sure to take note of the style of glass being used. What a great experience. Take a chance and stop in, you'll be glad you did.

I purchased 4 bottles of wine and only had one and I'm not even going to mention the name because I'm going to buy the rest if I can! Al is the proprietor, and the nicest guy you will ever meet who is also extremely knowledgeable about Northern California wines AND (and this is a really really important and) will happily open up something nice for you while you are visiting his shop. When my sister and I were there, Al opened up a bottle of Renteria 2001 Cabernet Sauv. It is now my favorite wine. Unfortunately, I only bought two bottles, one has been drunk, and the wine is no longer available. Bummer... He also has a wide selection of T-Vine and will always give you the best recommendations for your taste and budget. For example, he shipped to my sister, in Colorado, a dozen wines under $15 each, and every one was absolutely delicious. I recently joined the wine club at the bottom of the rung - he has four or five levels, each of differing a different price range. I pay fifty bucks a month and receive a red and a white or two reds, and that includes shipping, handling and tax. Both wines were absolutely glorious (a rose and a zin). I may put myself up a level once hubby is out of law school, but being the bargain-hunter/ expensive handbags purchaser that I am, and being perfectly happy with the wines I've received so far, I may just stay at this level. Okay, this must officially be my longest review ever, but one more thing: When I joined the club, Al called me personally to say that he remembered when my sister and I visited (I noted it in my order), to welcome me to the club,and to say that he hoped my husband and I could stop by real soon.
