It was more than likely because I looked dirty because I just got off work. It's okay because Barbara and her staff at customer house furniture took excellent care of my family's needs! I bought two beautiful chairs and two side tables from Dagmar, who is one of the nicest people I've ever met. You will pay more, but you're paying for serious quality, and again, you can customize as much as your heart desires. Even if you're just looking for throw pillows, you should check out Brick & Mantel because everything is wonderfully made.

Not only are the rugs gorgeous, but the owner, Miki, drove down from Sonoma to San Francisco to deliver them herself! She even took the time to purchase extra non-slip mats for underneath the rugs and wouldn't accept payment for them. Miki was a delight to work with and followed up on all our questions about the rugs, and she also made sure to give us the most current information about shipping and dates we'd receive them. Pricing was great and extremely fair for the high quality of the rugs -- they're fair trade and guaranteed not to utilize child labor. They are stunning and different and just perfect for our home -- we are excited to work with Stardust again in the future for other special pieces. Thank you, thank you, Miki and Stardust Modern Design!

Just as fun to say, it's fun to browse even if you're not a home chef. They have brand name, quality cookware, bakeware, and kitchen items. Gifts and gadgets. Basic items (inexpensive) to "what do I do with this" specialized items (pricier). All at reasonable, competitive pricing for the brands. Locally owned since 1972. Awesome! The place is not particularly large, but they have a knack for utilizing space without feeling cluttered. I stopped in recently because I happen to be in the area and heard they carry Smithy, American made cast iron cookware. In particular I was looking for the carbon steel line of Smithy which is supposedly lighter in weight than their cast iron line. The young sales associate helped me locate the Smithy display. He was aware of the brand and knew where it was exactly in the shop. Lovely, gorgeous pieces. Pricing was on par. After doing my weightlifting kitchen curl test with a 10 inch skillet, I concluded that it is less weighty but I'm too weak to handle even that carbon steel weight. However I am uncommonly lacking the normal upper body strength. So you most likely will not have the same issue as I.

I went to the sale last weekend on a very narrow road with many driveways. This house was packed with so many wonderful items! They were organized and displayed beautifully. I bought too much and did use the shuttle to haul my treasures back to my car. While I was inside the sale I heard a woman was upset about the efforts to reduce traffic. Another woman, who claimed to live in the street, was saying that she appreciated the efforts made to keep nonresidents off the narrow drive.

I know absolutely nothing about office chairs, but I work from home and really needed something…read morethat didn't make my back ache. I heard about this place and decided to give it a shot. Boy am I glad! Benjamin, the owner greeted us when we came in and let us walk around a bit. Then, as if he intuited our overwhelm, he came over at just the right time and helped us figure out a really amazing option. He took his time with us, explained all about the different options, and we left with one chair that I just placed in my office. It's perfect and my back is going to thank me! The variety of things that they have available in the store is pretty incredible - office chairs, any kind of desk you could want, stools, conference seating, even art. And at some seriously amazing prices. We are probably going to head back soon and pick up a couple of other pieces for the house. Really can't recommend this place enough.

TL;DR - Amazing experience. If you are in the market for a desk chair in the Bay Area, it is worth…read morethe drive to Rohnert Park for first class service and value. Longer version: I work at least a 40 hour work week from my home office (in addition to other work commitments). So WFH is a very real role that I have equipped the home office for - dual wide-screen monitors, standing desk, studio monitoring for audio, the real deal. What has been lacking is my desk chair: an older tired off-brand that just gets by. A far cry from the Herman Miller Aeron I enjoy at my work office in Kentfield. So when the home chair finally broke (the back height adjustment won't stay), it was time to start internet-shopping. I looked at Branch, Autonomous, Madison Seating, Hinomi...and of course that quickly led to being served up all sorts of brands I'd never heard of. This led to countless YouTube "expert" recommendations and the like. Isn't this the way of all shopping online these days? Finally too confused, I happened by chance to be in Rohnert Park one weekend (my wife and I were going to a concert at Sonoma State), and saw the Office Furniture Interiors & Design store early Sunday evening. They were closed, but I saw through the window they had several of the models that came really highly recommended online...the Haworth Fern, the Steelcase Gesture, the Herman Miller Embody...and several of the Aerons (that I already use at work, see above). I finally called them a few weeks later. Benjamin answered the phone (I think he's the owner) and we had a wonderful phone conversation - intelligent, professional, insightful - and I find out this company provides the chairs for my employer (!), and odds are the Aeron I'm sitting in at work was probably purchased from these guys. The next week I drive all the way up to Rohnert Park and end up being greeted by Benjamin. He then spends the better part of an hour with me, helping locate the best choices for my needs, recommending I stay with particular brands for very sensible reasons, and helps me narrow down my choices. Truth be told, all of these top of the line chairs feel different from each other, significantly so. There really isn't a way to ensure you're making the best choice without spending time sitting in them. Benjamin explained all of the options and adjustments in great detail, for each chair, and then let me spend time sitting and adjusting, rocking and tweaking, and getting used to each. Just the right balance of expert advice, complete product information, and let-you-do-you spend some quality time. I ended up going with a Herman Miller Embody chair (at a great price), and could not be happier. I may sound like a shill, but I know that the chair you spend so many hours working in can change your life - for better or worse. If you're in the market for a WFH chair, really looking to upgrade the "cockpit", you ought to consider making the trek up to Rohnert Park. You won't regret it.
