Friends who live near here introduced us to Outcast Grill for lunch recently. This is a small, casual neighborhood restaurant in University City. The menu is an eclectic mix of Mexican, Mediterranean and American dishes .. plus pizzas. For example, I had Chilaquiles (4/5 $18), and my wife had a Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich (3/5 $15). And our table shared the Hummus & Lamb appetizer (5/5 $20) ... outstanding! The dining room is small, and we sat outsise on the patio (which has much more space). Service was very good, and the owner stopped by our table to check on us. I always like this touch. Shared parking lot is small.

Outcast grill is a quiet little spot for brunch. It seems like one of those places that you wouldn't know about unless you lived in the neighborhood. It is located between Clairemont and La Jolla. My friend and I were seated right away. Our server was friendly and attentive and the food came out quick. The chilaquiles were pretty good and my friend enjoyed her burger.

Great brunch and friendly vibes :) I came here with a group of 9 friends and we got seated out on the patio. I love the ambiance, lots of fresh plants around. The employees were super friendly and I can tell this place is well-loved with their regulars. Everything on their menu looked so good, it was hard to choose! I got the breakfast burrito combo for $16. It was very tasty and filling! It came with a nice side of fruit. My friends ordered french toast, chilaquiles, bacon & cheese scramble, spinach scramble, bacon benedict and #2 combo. All of our food looked delish and had great portions.

Our server was utmost knowledgeable, positive, energetic, kind, and a beer aficionado. We really enjoyed the pizza, the fish and chips, and the food...they has this really really delicious IPA too. Must try if you're in the area, definitely somewhere I would be a regular at.

The beer I ordered was the peanut-butter stout and it was nice and cold and tasted great. The pizza I ordered was made pretty quickly and I took it back to my hotel. I ordered the American and it was excellent. Very high quality sausage, a good balance of cheese and a nice crisp thin crust that was perfect. Overall a nice place to get a beer or two and pizza. The menu did offer a wider range of options too.

A large Supreme runs about $24, but the quality of the ingredients and consistency help justify the cost. They do have a very cost effective lunch combo. Unfortunately, I've never been able to participate in it as I work weekday. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the customer service has been solid every visit. The vibe inside is laid-back and relaxed, making it an easy place to enjoy a meal without feeling rushed. It's also very family-friendly, as I almost always see families dining in. The Pizza Taproom is located in a large shopping plaza with spots like AMC, Barnes & Noble, and World Market, which makes it a convenient stop after shopping or catching a movie. Parking is plentiful, which is another plus. Overall, this is a reliable spot for quality pizza with good service and a comfortable atmosphere. While the prices keep it from being a perfect 5, everything else lines up for a solid 4-star experience.

Review could have been a 3, but this placed saved us on a Friday night…read more We stayed at the hotel and we went out during rush hour and could not find parking or short wait list anywhere else. Ended up giving the hotel restaurant a chance despite the 3.5 rating. Was very pleased with our experience! Our food was pretty good Salmon was an amazing recommendation The braised short rib was a little disappointing. Flavor did not penetrate the meat so it felt bland. The wine sauce was very subtle. But the mash potatoes were good. The Ahi Tuna tostadas definitely had really good flavor! The cheesecake was good paired with a cup of Americano. The price did feel on the high side for the portion size and quality, but I think we're really just paying for the convenience. Wasn't very busy, service was attentive. We sat outdoor and the heat lamps were working effectively. Outdoor seating options are pretty casual and comfortable.

This is the kind of place you don't expect to be good but it surprises you in the best way possible. Would come back here in a heartbeat.

They were open on time at 10 am with the game on the tv. Staff was very nice, bartender named Rachel told me they don't have food or coffee but I can go get some and bring it in. So I did. Very locals bar. Everyone seemed to know each other and they were welcoming. Saw at least 4 puppy dogs which were very cute. Decent selection of beers. Some microbrews mostly major label stuff. The Pacifico tap was having issues but hopefully that's fixed now. They were doing a betting pool for the SB which is fun. Ambiance: Watering Hole follows the typical local bar vibe of a jukebox, pool table, and bar area. We came on a Saturday night and there was a decent amount of people. Drink-wise: Draft beer is affordable around $7. I didn't purchase mixed drinks so can'r speak on that, but they likely aren't back breaking on the price. Service: there was one bartender working the night but he was quick and efficient with everyone. In summary, the Watering Hole is a solid dive bar. Nothing crazy to offer which isn't a bad thing. Just a simple, nice local bar for people to hang out, talk, and have fun.
