They did serve me a cheaper steak and try to pass it off as a ribeye - but they corrected the mistake when I showed them. (there is no mistaking the cut of a ribeye) - so moving them up to 3 stars Initial Review: We came into Outback at 5:35 and were seated immediately. We've been going to Outback recently and have found that it is not much more expensive to go there compared to Logan's (which we also enjoy). I've found that we are seated quickly and in the time we're waiting, I can usually find a 10-15% off coupon on my smart phone to use for our meal. The service is very good and the food is hot and prepared correctly. We have had only one negative experience which was rectified and the meal was comped. Okay two nights in a row with bad service. Tonight it was Outbacks. We were seated really fast. Then we waited a long time for our food. We ordered full rack of ribs and fries. We received our ribs but the fries didn't come until we were on our last bite. Then we ordered desserts and it took them 15 minutes to bring that. I won't be back to this Outback again. read more

Went here for lunch today and seriously was surprised at how good a chain restaurant could be! We didn't have to wait at all for our food to arrive and the clam chowder was really really delicious as were the quesadillas! Their bread kept coming out warm and with honey butter and the staff was super helpful and nice. We were in and out in 30 minutes and the whole experience was pretty great for only 10$ with tip. Great restaurant and good food, however, I placed an online order for a bloomin onion. Website said would be ready in 20 minutes. Showed up 30 minutes after I placed the order and waited. 2 employees came out at separate times, looked at us and walked away without seeing if we had been taken care of. After about another 10 minutes I walked inside the curb side entrance and eventually got service. The young lady claimed the order was messed up and that's the reason it took 45 minutes to get it to me. read more

It is not the best outback that I have eaten at but one of the best. They will cook your steak how you want it. if you want it to touch the grill for a second and then be pulled off they will do it. They serve the best bread while you wait for your dinner. The atmosphere is great for a restaurant. The location could be better. But all in all it is a great place. The prices are the same as any steak house in town. And it does get very busy on the weekends so eat an early dinner to miss the crowd. read more

Outback always takes care of my husband and I when we eat there, which is usually about once a month. It's our favorite. Seasoned and seared prime rib is the most delicious thing ever. The manager gave us complementary Prosecco on our rehearsal dinner night and again with some chocolate cake/ice cream dessert on our anniversary. Service is always friendly and fast. I was really dissappointed with our meal last night. The baked potato was as hard as a rock. I showed my server and she brought a new potato. My steamed broccoli was brown, I pointed it out to my server and she said she had asked the cook about it and he said it was because it was "water logged". I ate two bites and left most of it in the dish. The server didn't offer to remove it from the tab. The steak was over seasoned and spicy but exactly the temperature I asked for. Ordered curbside at 8:48 and was given a confirmation of 9:08pm. Did not get my food until 9:25. While waiting on my food I sat at the bar. The entire time I was there the bartender never even acknowledged that I was there. I ordered the 2 crab cakes and the bourbon salmon which is supposed to come with bacon and a side of mixed veggies. Got back to my room with food only to find soggy, over cooked veggies, two small slices of bacon over a small dry filet of salmon, and on top of a ruined entree I received two crab cakes with no crab. Went to Outback the other night with some friends to catch up and our waitress ( Jaidon ) was excellent! Our food came out very fast and warm, she answered all of the questions I had to ask. She showed professionalism towards the company and carried herself very maturely. If you ever come to this outback ask for Jaidon she is the best waitress there! read more

We had dinner tonight at our local Outback restaurant and had a wonderful meal and experience. We sat at the bar and had Shelby and Ben, the bartenders, wait on us and both were very friendly and efficient. What people don't often know about, is the behind story. Our Outback support the local rehab facility, Any Length Recovery Center. Nikki Shiggs, proprietor of our Outback truely believes in second chances. She works with the Recovery Center to hire and mentor recovering addicts. Several have gone on to get their degrees or move up to management. She is supporting these people and the community. We need more people like Nikki willing to give these second chances. Now you know why we fully support and love out Outback so much. read more

Always know what you are going to get, or at least you have certain expectations w/ a franchise restaurant. This Outback restaurant is great and very consistent with their product. Takeout isn't very consistent, though. It's like they serve the "reject products" to the curbside takeaway because you aren't there to complain if it's not up to your standards or expectations. This being said, if you call and complain, they are quick to offer to fix it for free or send you a "tuck away" card in the amount of purchase to cover or "refund" or comp your meal next time you go in. My cousin and I had a wonderful experience tonight! Caesar Salad and French onion soup for me, salmon with grilled vegetables for her, with warm bread. The food was delicious. But the best part? The service! Gentleman who escorted us to our table was very pleasant and made us feel very welcome. The proprietor, Nikki, was such a pleasant yet focused worker. She communicated by her manner a passion for improving atmosphere, service, and reputation every day. Our waitress, Brittany, was friendly, prompt, and anticipated our needs. i made an account just to review, literally downloaded while waiting for our check. our first waitress was absolutely amazing but had to go home for a family emergency. our second waitress was very nice but it took a while to get her back to our table. it's understandable though because they were one server short. the food just absolutely sucked. i enjoyed my steak until i got more than 8 bites in and it became super tough. someone, not our waiter, dropped off our food and i asked for the mac and cheese i'd ordered and some steak sauce and he seriously never came back. 10 minutes later our waitress finally came by again and i asked for my mac and cheese again. by the time she came back to drop it off, our drinks were empty. she asked if we wanted refills, i said yes, and we didn't get any. again i'm not mad at her because i understand they were short one waiter, but at that point i'd given up. my mashed potatoes were cold, the mac and cheese had waaaaay too much pepper, my husband's prime rib sandwich was beyond disgusting. i'd skip this outback specifically, normally it isn't this bad. read more

Hard place to review. Torn between a 4 star and 3 star rating. The coconut shrimp were very good. But the Alice Springs Chicken, I will pass on next time. The beer did not have much Fizz which means the beer lines must be cleaned. The wedge salad was good. The server was friendly, but we had to ask her for a loaf of the bread your suppose to get. All in all, I will keep this a four star but I would of liked to give it a three and a half if I had that option. read more

Jadion made me and my sister's weekly lunch date one of the best experience here at Outback! Normally the service is slow and we get a unhappy "blah" server! Jadion not only kept us laughing, but made sure our food arrived in a timely manner, correct, and most importantly the bread, honey butter and our drinks were always filled...she did all of that while attending the To-Go station as well! After noticing her steak had a strange texture to it my daughter realized the steak was rotten after just smelling it. Obviously we discussed this with the manager on duty. All she could do was apologize and offer a free gift card...really? I explained to her after eating several meals that resulted in "discussions" with the many different managers the last 2-3 years, I had my last meal at this particular Outback. Shame on me for thinking I just had another dinner when the cook was having an off night! Not sure what has happened with this locations as we have had meals at other Outback locations with no issues. Could I have just been unlucky enough to have had 5-6 bad meals at the same location? Been to Outback in Sumter a number of times and have experienced poor service at least 50% of the time. Food came out lukewarm too many times. Salads forgotten and then served with the main course. Cooks cannot consistently deliver steak at (or sometimes not even near) the temperature requested. Meat quality is inconsistent - sometimes tender, sometimes tough and shot thru with gristle - and the cuts are inconsistently sized. Apparently they take the "No Rules" motto a bit too far. They do make a decent hamburger and when I'm forced to go here that's what I order... that or just a plate of cheese fries with extra cheese. Fed up with being bitterly disappointed even though they consistently comp the disappointments. I don't want to go there to be comped for a bad experience, I want a pleasant uneventful meal. Service was very slow, especially for a Wednesday night. Drink orders were taken promptly, however they were delivered slowly, the same can be said about the appetizers. Complimentary bread was delivered only after it was asked for. The prime rib was anything but prime...it contained a high concentration of fat and was undercooked. The garlic mash potatoes were very bland and lacked texture, very runny. On a positive note, the hostess and waitress was very friendly, in this case I would credit the poor service and food product to the kitchen staff. read more

Disappointed with this Outback. Of the last 4 times I've been there, had bad service twice. One waitress tried to blame my wife for the rare meat she received (she only eats it well done), had the wrong beer brought out to me (instead of asking me if I wanted something else since they were out), screwed up the check, forgot sides and dessert, overcooked my steak (well done instead of medium), and on one occasion, was unable to answer basic questions about menu items. The last time was so bad, the manager started coming over to the table (we didn't request it, it was just that obvious). I thought he'd at least comp us an appetizer, but simply apologized several times and charged us full price. On the upside, the other two times went without a hitch and we had a pleasant experience. For the money, I'd rather go elsewhere in town where I know I'll get more consistent service. read more

Had early dinner yesterday. We were sat immediately but our server waited on the table sat after us first. I let this slide because I didn't think it was a big deal. However, it went downhill from there. We ordered. When the food came out there was nothing for me on the tray. The person that served the food asked if I ordered something. Uhhhh yeah. Then the waiter comes up and gets involved. Long story short, my food was not cooked. According to the manager, it was a "system error". I waited 30 mins for my food. My husband and daughter were long done with theirs. When my food FINALLY came out, it was missing grilled shrimp that I had ordered. Another 20 mins, I was finished with my steak and veg, the shrimp come out. Wrong shrimp. Not what I ordered. Asked waiter just to take the shrimp off of our bill because they were wrong and I was DONE. He then tells me that he believes the manager was going to take my entire meal off due to all the trouble. Fine! Twenty mins later the bill comes. My meal is on the bill. I was charged for a 6oz filet when I ordered and ate a 6oz sirloin. $10 difference in the price. I make him aware. Another 15 mins pass. Finally he comes back with the bill. Corrected. I paid and left a very sparse tip. Tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but every table around us that he was serving had similar issues. System error I guess. Done with Outback in Sumter. Never have I been through so much trouble and still have to pay for my food. NO COMPENSATION after I was told It was being taken off of my bill. Poor customer service at it's best. I will say that our waiter was very nice and apologetic, as was the manager, but that doesn't carry much weight after what I went through. Terrible experience. read more

We had not been to an Outback in a long time bc we try to frequent local places but not having many options in Sumter SC we gave it a shot and were impressed. Food quality and service are always good. Sometimes there's a wait when half the restaurant is empty guessing this is a staffing issue but it's usually only 10 mins. Drinks are strong too! read more

Just because some bread crumbs sit next to a crab, does not make it a crab cake. There was almost no crab in it and at $18.99 it was ridiculous. There is no excuse to be charging that price and giving that much bread in the crab cake. Huge disappointment. read more

I have been to this outback 3 times in 6 months and every time I went it was a horrible experience. One time I ordered the Alice spring chicken and the chicken came out smelling so bad that I couldn't eat it and they actually had to inspect all their chicken because of the way it smelled. Then the last time I went we waited a hour and a half the waitress forgot to put in the order and then when we finally got it, it came out horrible. My fries didn't even look like fries it was a black mashed glob of something and it was cold. So we sent it back and then we ended up leaving and not eating. I will never eat at this one ever again. Rather go to Logans or Ruby Tuesdays. read more
