Wife said her French onion soup was very good.. she also liked her Alice Springs chicken and baked potato. Moving to mainly my meal. I never received the broccoli that was supposed to be one of my sides. I did not realize it until on the way home. The steak was tough. Person three with us took her grilled shrimp home to cook more. The food was excellent. The ribs were tender, the shrimp were hot and cooked perfectly, the Caesar salad was good. I had a great food experience. I enjoyed that they were open later. We had a minor hiccup regarding ordering to go, a combination of me being tired because I came in from out of town, and the possibility of young lady I initially encountered being g new was not a deterrent. I ordered the shrimp pasta and I asked to add salmon. My bill was pricey and I thought I would check my receipt...I didn't receive my receipt until I was walking out the door. I was charged $26.99 for one piece of salmon...I was charged the regular price for the other entree and I was charged the entree price for the salmon. I fully expected to pay for the salmon but not the price of another entree. I called and the person I spoke to didn't offer any resolution, only an email address and call back to speak to the owner. My wife got fired today because some customer told the manager that she stuck the card reader in his face and begged him for a tip. Instead of looking at camera footage and trying to figure out what actually happened they just said "customer perception is reality" and let her go. The motor in her car is tore up right now so I've been taking her to work about forty five minutes one way. Her boss had us come all the way there just to tell her she didn't have a job anymore. I'm a truck driver so this crap cut into my rest break and I badly needed the whole thing for sleep. Probably gonna ride the rumble strips today. Wife's been working up there two dang years so is this really how they do instead of standing by their employees and giving the the benefit of the doubt? Two years of working almost every job is there and sometimes all day and that's it? Don't get a job here and don't give them your money. Although the staff was quite nice, the same could not be said for the food. The total bill was $65 for two adults. One dish was chicken with a sweet potato and broccoli. The other dish was prime rib ordered medium rare. The busboy was asked to bring A1 Steak sauce. After cutting into the prime rib, it was found to be almost raw. We waited to return the meat when the busboy returned with the steak sauce. He never returned. The waitress only returned to receive payment. It's a hit or miss when going to Outback in Sumter, SC. One day the service is great, the next day not so much. My last visit on 04/10/25, was a miss. A couple right by us, had their phone on playing videos rather loud and the staff never said anything to the people. There seemed to be a lack of staff that night, too because the server was doing a lot of fast walking trying to take care of everyone. Everything could improve. From the cleanliness, it is just dirty everywhere, to the attitude of the hostesses to the wait staff. The floors are slippery and this I am realizing is normal, as this has been an issue on other visits to this location. And why even have a call ahead, as it does no good. The restaurant was understaffed with wait staff. At least 1/3 of the tables remained empty, even when people were waiting to be seated. Food was great. And our waitress was wonderful. One point to note, the Outback format is aging quickly. This restaurant as is the same with many Outbacks, need some remodeling. read more

I wrote a review last year about how bad this Outback was. My wife convinced me to give it another try since a year has passed. We did and it is still awful. The bread was cold and the spread (cannot call it butter) was greasy and goopy. My potato soup was good but my wife's salad was bad parts of lettuce and the picture attached shows the cherry tomato with rot/fungus on it. We showed the waitress and her response was that she would tell the kitchen so they could check the others. No "oh my gosh I am so sorry", no visit from the manager and, shockingly, no surprise we had a rotten tomato. Our steaks were average to below average. I always loved the Outback Special sirloin but this one (as in last year) still had fat and grizzle. Much lower quality meat . Ordered it medium, like usual, and the outside was burned almost while the inside was cool/cold and undercooked. I could have sent it back but I did not trust them to do awful things to it. We were there about 6:00-6:30 and there was lots of open seats so that ought to tell you a lot. Never saw any manager walking around. Do yourself a favor and stay far away. I will. read more

I gave 4 stars but eh maybe more like 3.5. I'm a big fan of Kookaburra wings . I decided to grab curbside takeout for lunch. The take out server came out quickly, I did not have to wait long. The wings were hot (in temperature). The fries were about room temperature but I still enjoyed them! I did request bread and didn't get it although they put butter in the bag. Nevertheless, the good was good and I'll be back Suggestion/ Tip: I always ask for them to cook the wings a little longer than the normal cooking time so you know they're fully cooked! I've been hitting quite a few Outbacks lately in SC/NC/VA as I travel, as I like the food when they have their A game, and most have a location near my hotel and I don't want to drive 20 min for dinner . Stopped here for a late dinner, didn't want to load up on my standard favorite ( steak and side lobster), so sat at the bar as I normally do, got a beer and checked out the menu for something lite. The service was great, lots of us traveling guy and gals around the bar to hit, place was clean so first impression is this will be a good one. I opted for the grilled salmon and a side salad. Although I am HUGE into presentation, I had to go back and look on the menu and the meal was the entree and choice of salad or veggies, or specify both for a small up charge. I got the salad which came out first, great salad, just wanted I wanted. So when the salmon came, it was a piece of fish on a plate. No garnish, no sides ( I actually expected broccoli or something) but this is how its comes. I saw it before in MD location and actually thought this was really lacking- but its how you order it. So knowing that I could have said bring them out together- this would have been a better presentation but thats not how I ordered it. I got what I ordered, the salad was good, and the salmon was absolutely PERFECT! Just exactly what I wanted in a late meal. I just ate it slowly, sipped on more beer, didn't fill up on bread or anything else ( I have to have the beer...) so presentation aside- based on how you order- great service and attention from the bar, clean, efficient, 5 stars. Then we decided to order a cup of coffee before leaving and the waitress brought us our coffee and told us that the dishwasher was broken and she was sorry about how long it took. Beware of curbside takeaway! My daughter has been ill and craved soup-specifically French Onion. So on Saturday night we ordered soup & entree salads for curbside takeaway. They didn't give us any salad dressings. I had to drive back up there to get them. They gave me a $10 gift card. Tonight I decided to use it because she wanted soup again. It wasn't valid and couldn't be used. So I paid for the order. Soup & a Caesar side salad for one daughter and Aussie Cheese Fries for the other-asked for 2 ranch dressings. I checked the order before leaving and saw 3 soufflé cups so I thought we were good to go. Received 2 Caesar salad dressings, butter for bread we didn't get, and no ranch. I would strongly recommend triple checking your order if you do curbside takeaway. They can't seem to get this right. read more

We come to Sumter to see my parents every month. We usually go to "another " steakhouse, but this time decided to try the Outback at this particular location. From the moment we walked into the restaurant we were pleasantly greeted by a hostess and promptly seated at our table. Our experience at this particular outback did not really begin until we met our server Antonio, the server would prove to be one of the best servers we had ever had at ANY restaurant EVER!! Going out to dinner you should not only receive good and fresh food, you should also have a good dining experience in our opinion. Antonio took the time to welcome us to the restaurant and engage in a friendly conversation before getting our orders for cocktails and appetizers. Our cocktails and appetizers orders were not only correct they came out in a timely fashion with our appetizers. Antonio was very attentive to make sure that our drinks are always refreshed and that we had everything we needed for a pleasurable dining experience. This particular outback did not have such great reviews, we wanted to let people know that this restaurant is fabulous, and the food was wonderful it was seasoned to perfection served promptly served correctly and with a smile. My parents also commented regarding the service that they had received as well, they dine out very frequently. When you receive exceptional food and even more exceptional service from the staff, you are more than likely to tell people about your experience and return again and again. My husband and I reside in the Raleigh area, however we will absolutely be back and we will insist on sitting in Antonio's section!! Ahhh yes.... how can I forget, the Kiwi margarita was absolutely fabulous and the coconut shrimp was to die for!! Don't even get me started on the desert that we received, normally you would receive a tiny piece of cake or cheesecake this dessert was a nice portion and once again served with a smile. Thank you Outback for an awesome dining experience and a great evening out with our parents. We highly highly recommend this restaurant in the area. I have been to this Outback several times and the food and service is typically very good. It's like most others in the chain, so if you have been to one you know what to expect. The kitchen does have an issue with cooking the food as the menu/servers describe so I suggest getting it cooked slightly less than you typically get. I can still recommend them just based upon their overall stretch of the chain. Hopefully your server is good and the kitchen is paying attention to your order. Came back now twice for Walkabout Wednesday and it's a simple meal which they excel at mostly. It's also a good deal - but it has a very limited beer selection that comes with the special. Keep trying and it should be good. read more

Tonight was awful at Outback. The salad came before the blooming onion to start with. Then the first bloom came and it was only half an onion so it went back. When the second one got to the table and we began to eat, our entrees came. Ask to take them back. When we got the entrees, the prime rib was like leather and a baked potato was loaded not like requested. The second prime rib was not prime rib at all it was a steak. I typically do not write a review, however, in this case it was warranted due to the circumstances. I apologize in advance for the long post. We tried to take our mom out for her 70th birthday. It was a party of 7 so I would say it was not too big, but not too small. We called in advance to ensure that the restaurant could accommodate a party of 7 on Dec 27tharound 5:45/6pm. After being rerouted for a few minutes, I was told they would take my reservation but wasn't needed as it was not crowded. They took my name, party count and time of reservation. Upon arrival I was asked to provide the same information along with my cellphone # as though I didn't call in advance. I was told the wait would be 30 minutes. I asked regarding the reservation, but the attendant acted as though it didn't mean anything to make a reservation. I was patient and had my family sit and wait. The wait turned into over an hour. I was getting concerned as I saw parties getting seated before me who arrived after me. I was told by the attendant that they were short on servers for a larger party. At that time, I told the greeter that if the server was the issue for not getting seated that she could split up my party. We waited another 20 minutes with no accommodations. We asked to speak to the manager who came and begin to explain that he was washing dishes due to limited staff. He also stated others had "call ahead" reservations, which I am not sure how that differed than what I described. I personally felt that he was not accommodating and furthermore he should have exchanged positions with the attendant who was clearly not equipped to manage larger crowds. I guess his working in the kitchen was a sign to show that they were short staffed. I understand service has been impacted due to Covid. I reside in Houston, TX and I feel the same impact with service at times. However, I would suggest that this Outback have a level of transparency with its customers, which would be appreciated. If you know the wait is longer, then explain that to your customers. If you have a manager who is on dishwashing duties versus greeting customers, then maybe you need to start explaining to customers that you cannot accommodate them for the night. The most disappointing part of the night is that my mom was saddened as our final decision was to leave after waiting over an hour and half. We went to another restaurant for accommodations, but for some reason she really wanted to end her 70th taking her family out to Outback. Her 70thstarted off perfectly fine but did not end as such. It is my hope that you train your employees and managers in these types of situations. Her 70th birthday dinner was disappointing and thus the reason for making this known. read more

We came here on a Saturday around 3 & it wasn't at all busy. We were seated right away! Our waitress was SO NICE! Kept our drinks full, kept bread on the table and was super quick & friendly. You could tell she enjoyed her job. We both ordered burgers and fries. The burgers were good. Once again, not the best burger I've ever had but I enjoyed it.
