For context, I rate products and businesses on a simple scale: 5 stars means I love it, 4 stars means I like it, 3 stars is okay, 2 stars means I didn't like it, and 1 star means I hated it or think it's unsafe. We usually dine at this Outback location with a party of six, and we have been here many times because it works well for our group. The service has consistently been very good, and the food has been just as reliable. Prices are decent for what you get. Portions do seem a little on the small side, but not to the point where it's a problem. The Bloomin' Onion is fun, looks great on the table, and tastes just as good. The atmosphere is family style, nothing fancy, but it's clean and comfortable. One thing that really matters to me is drink refills, and they are usually very good about refilling sodas or at least stopping to ask. This location is close to LongHorn Steakhouse and Texas Roadhouse, so we have options. LongHorn is the most expensive of the three in my opinion, and we have not had great experiences there lately. Texas Roadhouse has good food and I like it, but with a party of six we always feel crammed into small booths. That alone makes it uncomfortable for our group. The Outback Steakhouse in Colonie is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The waitstaff and especially the manager are very friendly and always a pleasure to be around. When you place your order with your waitstaff it is very efficient. When the food is ready anyone that is available brings it right out so it is always hot and ready for consumption. I have never had bad service here. The food is always so delicious. I may not have pictures of my food because I am so happy to dig right in. There is plenty of parking and easy to get to right off of Wolf Road. Come try this place you will not be disappointed. The ambiance here is great. Lots of room and plenty of tables or booths depending on where you want to sit. There is a bar and different set up near the bar too. I love this place. Another really good experience at Outback. This year the food was hotter, the wait staff was better (they were happier and seemed to be working to cover each other to make sure nothing went wrong) , nobody even opened the ketchup. The worst thing about the meal was that the broccoli had clearly finished cooking before everything else and was cold. The best thing is that a few minutes after we received our meals the server stopped by and (as expected) asked us if we were happy with our orders. So far, nothing different. We came here for an early Father's Day dinner. The restaurant was very busy. The staff was fast, kind, and efficient. Our drink orders were taken right away and we were brought some delicious warm bread. I ordered the croc-tail which was pretty good. The lower star rating is because the steak was a bit tough and didn't have great flavor. I ordered the sweet potato with it and it had a texture like it had been frozen. Having seen ads for the Bloomin' Onion and shrimp on the Barbie, I finally had the opportunity to try the Outback Steakhouse. I was greeted at the door by a smiling hostess who quickly seated me at a table I chose. A waitress appeared almost immediately to take a drink order and present a menu. So far, incredible, friendly service, great vibes. The seating was comfortable, cozy and warm. Food came. The Blooming Onion was delicious as were fried mushrooms and mozzarella boomerangs. I ordered a small rib eye, medium rare, which came medium well but it was a very thin steak which grilled beautifully but was simply too thin to be rare. I ate it, I was not unhappy. The chocolate layer cake which was ordered as take out, was amazing. I had enough leftovers for another dinner. I would love to go back to the Outback to enjoy some other items from the extensive menu. All told, a pleasant experience , fair price for a nice night out. read more

We wanted to take our son out to eat. 1st choice was Texas Roadhouse, the wait was too long. 2nd choice was Longhorn Steakhouse. The wait was longer. 3rd choice was The Outback. There was no wait. All three restaurants were within a mile from one another. It was almost empty at 5pm. The steaks were over priced. My wife and I ordered the Fried Mozzarella Bloomerangs and our son got the Teriyaki Skewers. The Bloomerangs were advertised as served with maranara sauce. They came with salsa, not maranara sauce. We hate salsa, you could smell it coming. When asked for maranara sauce our waiter checked with the kitchen and returned with "no we don't have maranara sauce" and offered no options or ways to fix the problem. So we watched our son eat over our plates with food we didn't eat. We basically had beer and water for our dining experience without a meal. Our sons drink was forgotten about and we had to ask another waiter to retrieve it. The wait service was sub-par, he really did bear minimum and was still given a 25% tip (didn't deserve). Before we left, my wife had a horrible bathroom experience. A woman entered the stall next to her and had quite the vomiting episode (wonder why?). Our AAA/senior discount discount was not honored. No wonder there was no wait time to be seated and the place was empty. The restaurant used to be a great place that we were looking forward to go to for a tasty meal at a good price... not anymore. Typically order on line and do pickup which is very easy to do even for somebody like me! The food is always great! My grandchildren love it, especially their rolls with cinnamon butter! Meals are ready in no time and there is a pickup window outside which makes pickup so convenient! Parking is reserved directly in front of pickup window....what more can you ask for! read more

A friend gave us a gift certificate a while ago and we didn't feel like cooking, so we came here for dinner on a Wednesday evening. The place was about 2/3 full and pretty loud. I hadn't been to an Outback in about 10 years so I didn't remember what they were like. Our booth was a bit cramped, but I liked the woodwork. The music was eclectic though I don't recall recognizing a single song. I was hoping for some Men At Work. Oh well. The menu isn't large and I was disappointed to see that there weren't a lot of creative offerings. Sure, they had lots of steak cuts, but I was hoping for options besides steak, steak+shrimp, steak+ribs, etc. Maybe a creative steak stir-fry, or an interesting steak + wine sauce, or something. Apparently in Australia, that isn't how you eat steak. I ordered the 6oz. sirloin with ribs combo with fries and soup, and my wife had the steak and chicken combo with a baked potato and salad. I asked for a club soda and was served a Sprite. I like Sprite, but when I mentioned this to the waitress she said that she didn't "run the lines" long enough. I chalked this up as a simple mistake. Bread was brought to the table that looked like pumpernickel or rye, but didn't really taste like anything. It was very soft, more like a dinner roll, and I saved my half to eat with my soup. After some time my wife's Caesar salad arrived (it was okay... it didn't taste like traditional Caesar salad and the cheese shards were bland) but about 20 minutes after ordering my soup still hadn't arrived. When we stopped our waitress to about this, she said they were still learning a new computer system. I chalked it up as a simple mistake. The soup finally arrived and it tasted like bland, canned broccoli soup. When ordering, the waitress had cautioned that the soup was so popular it might be sold out (at 5:30PM!) but upon tasting it I find that hard to believe. I like canned soup, and that is better than this. At least it was served hot. The bread didn't help. Our meals finally arrived about 60 minutes after ordering. Our steaks were tiny and expensive, but tasted salty (which is better than bland). They were cooked correctly, which is nice. My ribs had a very sweet sauce and a weird chemical aftertaste that I don't think was fake smoke, but I can't say what it was. They weren't very good. The "Aussie" fries were just regular fries with salt and pepper on them, and sadly they were the best part of the meal. My wife's chicken was covered with yellow cheese but I really couldn't taste anything special about it. It wasn't dry though. It was an utterly bland meal. The food was just okay, and had it been served correctly and in a timely manner perhaps I would have been more charitable with my review. Making matters worse, our waitress disappeared for long stretches of time so that I had to go to the bar to get my own refill, and we had to flag her down to find out about my soup. They seemed busy but weren't full, so I don't know if she was inattentive or we were seated outside her normal section. As we were leaving my wife was correct in her assessment: at least we didn't have to cook, and we had a gift card. Each of those points is worth one star. read more

The best experience was the waitstaff consistently making sure our needs were met. The alcoholic drinks were very sweet and had less than a few sips worth in them. The bread was ok, but the best part of it was the butter. Our appetizer had very little taste overall. The pasta dish was very bland and was very undercooked and the 3 pieces of steak on top felt like a slap in the face for the price. I returned to Outback to check out their steaks after a mediocre lunch with my mom. This time I returned with friends for our second installment of tour de chain steakhouses. The blooming onion, still good! The blue cheese dressing, still good! Now, can a chain restaurant serve up a good steak? You bet this one can. I went for the bone in ribeye and was very surprised how great it was. It was just like I would prepare my own steak at home. Very tender, beefy and I loved that they kept it fatty. It was glorious. I was able to bring 2/3s of it home. The baked potato was also good although the bacon was meh. My boyfriend also demolished his cheese steak, and liked it a lot. So that must be a good choice as well! If you come here, get the steak! They really do a good job. I would certainly not avoid this chain. My experience, poor food, and unprofessional interactions I had with my first time ever at Outback Steak House. Ordering out at Outback Steak House was unacceptable and horrible experience. I first spoke to Sammy (Manager) on Sunday 2/16/25, at 2:19pm and 2:31pm, at the Wolf Road Albany NY location. I was reading right from the online menu. It says order for a family of four or family of six. I was asking Sammy (manager) what the price was, I was told it's only for 5 people. I said I am on your site and it says large is family of six. Sammy said no only for family of five. He said food for 5 people, that includes sirloin steak, with tax is $60.85. I said it won't serve 6 like the menu says, he said no, It's good for only 5 people. I said, so feeding 5 people is 60.85 and he said yes. I said, can you have that ready for 3:30pm. He said yes. My family member and I got there at 3:35pm. A staff started to talk to me inside the store, when I went inside. She said, I am sorry the Manager Sammy told you the wrong thing and we put in a small, dinner for four people. I said, I am feeding six of my family members, and he said the large will feed 5 others. She said, he told you the wrong thing, and we tried to contact you back, we only put in enough dinner for four others, and said sorry. She said, the correct thing Sammy should have told you the large is for a family of six, and she tried to tell Sammy that and he just thinks he knows it all. She said, she had to put in two more orders to complete the dinner for six. I said okay, for same price the manager said, right? She said no, for additional 30 something dollars. I said that is unacceptable. I said, why can't I talk to Sammy and why didn't he come to me first and apologize for his mistake. She said, she doesn't know. She says, he stressed her out, because of him and sorry for what's happened. She said, she will rush the rest of the order and give us more mash potatoes. I said, I still feel frustrated and what's being done is unacceptable. Now Sammy was on the other side of the door, where I was stranding, and could not come to chat with me? Then another employee called the employee out, while she was trying to help us. She comes back in and said, Sammy is mad at her for finding his mistake. She was definitely stressed out. I then requested to speak to Sammy (manager). He comes out shakes my hand, then says how are you, smiling, I said, I am aggravated with my first time here and the experience, and the way this is being handled. He says yea, he was looking at another Menu and looked at wrong thing?? I said, well you should honor the price for me and this is not good management. He said, I know. I said, I paid 35 dollars extra, on top of my two gift cards I used. He said, I will put 30 back on your card. He asked, you have your receipt, I gave it to him, he said, you already paid. I said, yes you asked for the receipt. He said, he could not put the 30 dollars back on my card. He gave me a few 10 dollar gift cards. He was not sincerely apologizing at all for his mess up and just kept on failing me as a customer. I truly felt he was just trying to find a quick way to smooth it out and thought it was acceptable. The other staff that was helping us said, they are making us free dessert's. Well I have a family of 6, I am feeding and they came out with one small dessert! I felt that was a slap in a face. I ordered a family meal and I get one little dessert for one person, that's them saying sorry? I am very aggravated at this point. About time I left now it's 4:45pm. 45 minutes later I get the food. When I got home and put everything on the table, the sirloin steak was overcooked on top and all burnt. This definitely make me feel discouraged and disgusted with outback steak house, first time experience. I had to cut a good amount off all the steaks, and ate what I could. This was not enough to feed my family, because of the amount that was over cooked was trash. I cooked my family burgers instead. The potatoes and house salad was the only good thing in the order I got from outback steak house. This is beyond acceptable for any customer to receive such an experience. I don't think it was handle with satisfaction at all and is very poor management. This does not make me think to return to such a restaurant, with how this situation was handled and the poor experience that happened to me. This matter needs to be handled immediately and investigated. I request the CEO Mike Spanos to also see this and look at the horrible and uncalled experience with Sammy (Manager) and poor food that I got to taste from Outback Steak House, because they tried rushing a order. This is uncalled for ! I request Mike Spanos (CEO) to contact me back. I push it up ti his level because, this should of never happened to me in the way it did. Ordered curbside take out for my Birthday tonight as I was staying in Albany on business. The food was horrible Alice springs chicken was overcooked & so dry it was inedible. The chopped blue cheese chopped salad I was not chopped just big iceberg pieces with a few pieces of red cabbage & even fewer pecans not up to the outback standard threw it out. In the second installment of the great steak out my loyal Yelpers and I crossed the street and went to the national chain that has been doing steak for a good long while. Are steaks a big thing in Australia? Do they have a surplus of onions ready for the fryer? The Australian theme at Outback is kind of a mystery but we were really here to determine one thing... do they make a good steak? We were dining on a Tuesday evening and the place was fairly dead. Maybe the locals are still being drawn in by the tractor beam of sodium on the other side of Wolf Road. We all started with an I.P.A. which was tasty. The tall mug was only $7.50 which officially makes it a bargain compared to most pubs out this way. We were served the "bread" which was a frozen block before cooking. It was brown bread but loaded with sugar. After a short debate we decided to try a blooming onion which made Outback semi-famous. I remember having it a loooong time ago and thinking it was horrible. Tonight I was pleasantly surprised. It was crispy, seasoned well and not overly greasy. The sauce is a bit salty and artificial tasting. The secret ingredient is horseradish ala Horsey Sauce from Arby's (which I love hehe). Truthfully it is the perfect condiment for this appetizer. Steaks come with many options for sides and they even have special sides for an up charge. I was going for the gusto with my steak so I got a side salad with blue cheese dressing. The salad was a mixture of iceburg and romaine blah blah you have had this salad before. The blue cheese was very good. At long last I will answer the question I asked above. Does Outback still make a good steak? The answer is....... absolutely. I ordered the bone in rib eye and found that it was juicy, cooked perfectly, tasted like beef and was seasoned well without D.B.S. (death by sodium). They claim to use a wood fired grill here and you could taste a slight hint of smoke. There was a healthy amount of fat in this steak and perhaps it could have been trimmed better but that marbling is one of the things that makes rib eye king. My fellow steak out members all agreed it was the kind of steak you might enjoy after cooking on the BBQ in your backyard. It wasn't prime. It wasn't dry aged 30 days but it was tasty, seasoned and cooked perfectly. The steak came with a fairly big baked potato which was cooked just right. It came loaded: cheese, butter, sour cream, green onions and fake bacon (blech). It was A.O.K. in my book. So there you have it steak lovers. Outback does a respectable job. Service was great and the price for the bone in rib eye was only 4 dollars more than the competition across the street. 29.99 was a reasonable price for steak done right. Sadly I have to rate this less than average. We had. Waitlist reservation for 6:45 and got there-At 6:15- we knew it was Saturday and would be busy but we checked in and asked we'll cancel we wait at the bar and told we'll you can't sit there it's a wait list. Then I simply went to the bar ordered a few drinks and wing appetizer which arrived quickly. We checked back at the desk at 650and they said they did have room for 6 top so we had to split up to booths after we offered to sit at the bar and have the rest of the family take a booth in the bar across from each other -which we're vacant for 30 min- "oh those are up to the bar tenders area" By this time as were thinned out quite a bit. The only thing we were able to do was to have booths next to each other which of course you can't communicate at all. We are an apathetic waiter who seem to forget to bring the ranch sauce for the chicken fingers. The prime ribs that were ordered medium rare came as rare as rare could be, but my family chose not to complain but didn't eat most of it. First time paying customer at this location. Generally, I'm not a fan of these types of chain eateries, but we had some gift card loot to use, so off we went. Seated immediately as it was a Tuesday evening in the cold, harsh dead of Upstate NY winter. Maybe filled to 20 percent capacity, if that. Lots of older retiree types eating, which is totally cool by me. Got us a booth and dove into the large menu. I ordered a cup of French onion soup with my meal and it was served to me first. Pretty darn good. Souper (hehehe) hot...burned the roof of my mouth. Dangit!! My wife had maybe half of my soup and she said it was one of the better French Onion soups she's ever had (that's her go to soup). I liked it plenty as well and would definitely order it again if I were feeling it. We had the coconut shrimp app and it was served not long after my soup and her salad and them shrimps were excellent. 8 large shrimps, nice and hot and plenty sweet and juicy without being overcooked. The marmalade accoutrement (sp?) for dunking was nice too. I ordered an Outback burger medium rare with added provolone and bacon. It's served standard with fries, but I switched them out for regular mashed as I'm so sick of fries. The burger was actually served medium rare, just like I like it (and the waitress checked to make sure this was the case!) and it was topped off with a nice brioche bun. Overall, a good burger that I'd order again for sure. The mashed taters were pretty blah me and I wouldn't order them again. Next time I'm ordering onion petals or something. The burger and taters ran me $11.99. The coconut shrimp app was $10.99ish if I recall correctly, and I believe I do. French onion soup was an add on of $2.99 to my meal and totally worth it. I'm sorry but this was the worst experience I've ever had with this store. Normally they are decent slow service but decent food but this was too slow. Only talked to 1 person the entire time, it was the same person that sat us. Nobody bothered to acknowledge us, we were a party of 3, people in had been waiting for 10 minutes before we got up and left, was never acknowledged by the wait staff, the party of 7 who sat down maybe 5 minutes after us was being acknowledged before us. That was the last straw and we left. Worst experience by far I understand their service is going to be slow but at least show the customers that you know they are there. read more

We were greeted and told it would be about 15 minutes before being seated given a beeper and strolled into the bar for a beer and sangria. Neil, our server immediately offered us warm bread and a chance to read the menu and decide what we wanted to order. Another server walked around the place with samples which I thought was a nice effect and not done in many restaurants. My DH ordered a medium cooked 9 inch steak $18.49 served with house salad and baked potato. He said it was perfectly cooked and I ordered Alice Springs Chicken Quesadilla stuffed with mushrooms, bacon, cheese and grilled chicken at $11.49. It was good but not exceptional. I think if you like steak this is a great place to come to. The main thing about this place is the service our server and all other servers were so very nice and very diligent about making sure we were taken care of. I'm sure I will get some questions about my grade. A 3 star isn't a bad grade it's a medium grade. My DH would probably give his steak a 4 star so my total would be 3 1/2. So thats why it's a 3 star. My fiancee and I recently took the hour and a half drive up to Albany hoping beyond hope to find that ever-illusive Outback that still gives their waiting customers those little beeper thingies to let them know when their table is ready. Well, I'm sad to report that after our super long drive not only do they no longer use the beeper thingies but they weren't even really busy so we didn't have to wait anyway. Feeling pretty bummed about this we asked if we could just buy some of their bread and maybe have some free water. After being told that it didn't really work that way, we decided to order some steaks and beers. The steaks were pretty good even though I have a lot of irrational anxiety that my teeth will become very soft and that chewing a lot on tough foods like meat will cause them to crumble apart.
