Easter dinner at the Barnsider. The place was packed. Grateful to our waitress Liz that made sure we were taken care of. Thank you to all who worked today.

There were 9 of in for Easter Dinner and from the bar thru dinner in the dining room we are well taken care of. The staff was great and our food came out in a timely manner. The place was packed, but that did not affect the service at all. We will go back.

Very wonderful evening! Restaurant is divided into two sections-restaurant and bar dining. Easy drink orders of Guinness which matched the dinner orders so well. Our party of four ordered (2) Iowa Hawkeyes and the 24 oz Sirloin for Two -all ordered Medium rare. The Iowa Hawkeyes are steak slices on a half roll, seasoned with garlic butter. One order came with fries, the other well seasoned steamed vegetables. The Sirloin for Two came with two sides, so, of course we needed to check out the salad bar, and also opted for steamed vegetables. The salad bar was simple, though it did have a nice variety of toppings. It was kind of fun cutting up your own bread for your meal. Our entire meal was excellent. Dessert was Apple crisp with ice cream and the strawberry shortcake. Can't forget our waitress being very conscientious and efficient . Definitely returning!

A great "old style" restaurant with super food. We ate at the bar since the dining room was packed. The baked cod with baked potato was piping hot and well seasoned. The cherry pepper chicken was delicious. Attentive service from Doug the bar tender. A definite local hit.

This old school steakhouse gets some hate, but still delivers for good food, good service and good atmosphere. I haven't been to Barnsider in YEARS. I have been exploring my high standards, enjoying high end steakhouses and fine dining, but I can't be mad at a local institution still delivering the same menu and same standards they were famous for a decade or two ago. My dinner was good, great even, especially at the price tag. I will admit, I didn't order what I was tempted by based on the reviews. This is the only place in the area that offers Beef Wellington, but I did skip it based on hit or miss reviews. I decided to order the classic and I left completely happy with the Prime Rib. I ordered the 16oz prime rib entree, served with the full salad bar and a side. The salad bar is a huge draw here. It is consistently stocked with fresh ingredients and the base offering of fresh and crispy romaine made it better than expected. I loaded that salad plate full of fresh veggies, the chunkiest blue cheese I have ever seen, fresh bread and sharp cheese. The salad bar is a meal in itself, and it just means you can bring home some delicious leftovers when you can't finish your entree. I requested my prime rib "as rare as you have it" and it came out perfectly pink and tender. I made a great choice, the meat was super tender and hit that red meat craving I had. A large 16oz portion was served with a huge baked potato, au jus and sour cream. It was as expected, maybe even better than expected. I can admit I have high standards when I go to a steakhouse, but Barnsider is so affordable I can adjust my standards accordingly. At $40 for a full prime rib dinner with side and limitless salad bar, this was absolutely worth the price. Our bill for 4 people was $177, 4 full entrees with salad bar and sides, a carafe of wine, and other non alcoholic beverages. *It was my dads birthday so his meal was 50% off, so add $20 without his discount* Overall, super affordable and still feels like a celebratory meal. I wouldn't hesitate to return if invited. I had a great meal.

Great time at the Barnsider! Old school vibes and delicious food! Salad bar complements delicious entrees and warm bread! Service was friendly! Drinks were tasty!

cook using cell phone while handling food.

The food was mediocre. Cooked well but very underseasoned. My main complaint was not the food, though. It was the fact that the kitchen staff were usually cell phones while cooking and touching the phone AND food at the same time. This is completely unsanitary and gross. Waitstaff was in charge of sides and were sticking their bare hands on the garnishes and putting it on the plates with no gloves. Dirty dishes were on the garnish station. The lack of cleanliness in this restaurant was astounding. I won't return.

We had a fixed menu that included shrimp cocktail, mixed greens salad, filet mignon, dessert, and an open bar. After a couple of old fashioneds and some shrimp cocktail, I was already happy. Really, all of the food and drinks were enjoyable. The filet mignon especially stood out -- a 10oz center cut filet with cabernet demi-glacé -- and mine came out a perfect medium rare. The sides were well done too, especially the smashed Yukon gold potatoes and grilled asparagus. Dessert was a flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauces and whipped cream that finished the meal nicely. Service throughout the night was excellent. Plates moved quickly, drinks kept flowing, and wine glasses were consistently topped off without needing to ask. Overall, a really polished experience and a great spot for an event or upscale dinner in Albany.

It's an essential stop whenever I'm in Albany, striking that rare balance between upscale sophistication and genuinely warm hospitality. Under the leadership of Jaime Ortiz and Ken Kehn, the restaurant continues to deliver a consistently exceptional experience. We had a 6:30 p.m. reservation for five while celebrating a friend's 45th birthday. We arrived early to enjoy the outstanding happy hour offerings, including $11 well martinis, excellent deviled eggs, oysters, and duck wings. The next day, I reviewed the bar tab and noticed we had been charged $16 per martini instead of the happy hour price. Since we ordered several rounds, the difference was significant and also affected the gratuity, as we tipped 22 percent. To the restaurant's credit, when I returned and pointed out the mistake, the staff addressed it promptly and reimbursed us for most of the overcharge. 677 is a good choice if you're visiting for a celebratory steak dinner, a business meal, or cocktails at happy hour, every detail feels polished and thoughtfully executed. One standout is the Hanging Tomahawk for Two -- a dramatic 50-ounce prime cut, sliced tableside and paired with parmesan- and butter-breadcrumb-crusted fingerling potatoes. It's every bit as impressive as it sounds. What truly elevates the experience is the staff. They don't simply serve guests -- they anticipate needs before you even realize them. In an era when fine dining can sometimes feel formulaic, 677 Prime distinguishes itself through constant refinement and a commitment to making each visit better than the last. Easily one of the finest restaurants in Albany. One pro-tip: review your tab before paying.

The decor did impress from the outside look to the inside. We ordered the seafood tower to start. At this price point, it was really not worth it. A half lobster on top with maybe 1 or 2 crab legs. A few raw oysters and clams and few shrimp. I have definitely had better. In fact all the seafood dishes lacked. We got the lobster Mac and cheese also to share and it was overly salty. I ordered a sea bass and they were out of it so I asked if the same dish could be prepared with salmon instead, which I was told it could. I ended up entirely getting the salmon dish which I avoided because I didn't like the accompaniments. The waitress immediately realized and took the dish back to get it redone. It came back out and I don't think it was still correct however I ate what I could. Fish was overcooked. My friends had steaks and those arrived on a sizzling hot cast iron. I should've went with meat. Drinks were also just okay. I find the flavors not to layer well with the drinks or entrees. The service was fantastic which is why I am giving 3 stars. The waitress was observant and did just enough without being overbearing. However, I wouldn't come again.

We went to Delmonico's Italian Steakhouse last weekend with a party of 10. Our group meets up once a month and tries a new place each time. I had been here once before over the summer and had a great experience then. That time we were seated in one of the alcove style rooms. It is not fully private but it definitely feels like your own space, and it added a lot to the atmosphere. The food and service were excellent on that visit, and the birthday person in our group loved the theming of the room. This time we were supposed to be seated in the Sinatra room. After our reservation time passed, the hostess came over and explained they had made a mistake with the room booking and it was not available. They moved us to a large table in the main dining area and offered us four appetizers on the house to make up for it. That immediately smoothed things over, and no one in our group had any issues after that. Mistakes happen, it is how a place handles them that matters, and they handled this very well. The main dining area has a nice ambience, but it is a bit noisy compared to the alcove spaces. Food wise, we had a wide range, steaks, chicken, veal, and some gluten free options. Most of the group had alcoholic drinks, while a few of us stuck with soda and water. One friend said the cola he got at the bar while we waited was flat and he skipped it after that. I tried a soda at the table and mine was fine. He later had a lemon lime soda, not sure if it was 7Up or Starry, and had no complaints, so it is possible they changed out the CO2 in between. Service really stood out. It is not easy to manage a table of 10, but our waitress was outstanding and very friendly. We were served in a timely manner, and several people commented on both the portion sizes and the quality of the meals. A few in our group even said they felt the pricing was a bargain for what you get. Overall, we will definitely be back. Scheduling errors and things out of the staff's control happen anywhere, but many places either do not apologize or do nothing to fix it. Here, they did both, and their solution was more than generous. Kudos to them. 4 stars.

My wife and I had dinner with another couple last week at The LongHorn Steakhouse in albany. (We live in Long Island, NY.) This was my first visit to this location and I could not have enjoyed the evening more. Our friends told us that they get busy quickly in the evening so we arrived at 6:00PM to a very warm welcome and were seated immediately. I knew that this was gong to be a good experience just from the way it started. We had to be out by 7:30 for a meeting so time was crucial/ Our very efficient server, came right over to our table and take a drink orders. She then delivered the drinks with menus and bread and asked us if we had any questions. We just wanted to sit and speak for a few minutes and enjoy our surroundings. This restaurant is a very comfortable spot where noise was not a problem even as they were filled to capacity. We all started with salads which were cool, crisp and tasty. The dinners we order included these two items: Flo's Filet®. This iconic cut has been here since opening in 1981. The Roosevelt Room in Troy was a great experience from start to finish. I was honestly expecting a standalone building, but it is tucked into a strip mall near HVCC. That said, parking was easy and stress free, which is always a plus. This was our first visit as a party of four, and the service was superb. The attention to detail really stood out and was noticed immediately. Our waitress checked in at the right times, kept drinks filled, and made sure everything came out exactly as expected. Meals are made to order, so substitutions were no issue at all, and it was nice to see gluten free options available. When you walk in, you pass through a curtain and are immediately greeted by a coat attendant who takes your coats, which instantly gives the place an upscale feel. The ambiance is well done, with soft lighting and nice background music. It is on the smaller side and dimly lit, but that is clearly intentional. The menus actually light up, which was a unique and thoughtful touch that fits the atmosphere perfectly. We had reservations and were seated right away. It did not seem necessary on this particular evening, but I would definitely recommend them on a weekend given the size of the space. The food itself was excellent. Everything we ordered was very tasty, and the presentation across the board was impressive. Desserts are prepared by a pastry chef and were just as good as the rest of the meal. It is definitely on the pricey side, but that is to be expected for the level of service and atmosphere. This feels like a special occasion type of place, and in that context, it is worth every penny. We really enjoyed our night and would absolutely come back. It was a lovely compliment to the champagne. For an appetizer we enjoyed the escargot. We have had escargot in many places, rarely, if ever, was it as good at this was. The garlic butter was on point, the crusty bread was a great addition to the dish. It was served with tiny leaves of Swiss chard. We cannot recommend this enough. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from their extensive wine list, Stag's Leap. This wine paired perfectly with the filet mignon bordelaise, and the veal chop with cherry peppers.
