Midwest RV - Heartland (Larry) Bighorn from Midwest RV

    Midwest RV

Had a power surge and consequently an electrical system failure on our travel trailer. Since I was…read moreclose by I went to the shop and spoke with Adam. He told me to bring it in. I was back within 30 minutes. He told me he would check it over and give me a call. The inverter, microwave, and refrigerator were fried! He told me he would order the parts and have reassembled and ready to go within several days. True to his word he called several days later. It has now been about six weeks later...we have had opportunity to camp and test the system out now. Everything works like new! I am very pleased with the work performed. Adam Gentry, whom is the Shop Mgr., was a life saver for us.

Two words: Serve.Us!…read more That's exactly what we found upon inadvertently stumbling into Midwest RV. (Long story short: we flew from Ohio to Kansas to look at specific trailers with one of Midwest's "competitors" [loosely defined "competitor", in retrospect]. We learned things about each trailer only AFTER arriving and that would have likely kept us from making the trek. Frustrated, disappointed, and heading back to Ohio from a failed mission, we noted a trailer on Midwest RV's property and thought 'what the h*ll, we can always look.') Two words: Smart.Decision! It was 20 minutes to closing (ON A SATURDAY EVENING), and without missing a beat, one of their SERVE.US (v. sales) reps offered to open up the slides for us to better view the interior. We both hated accepting the offer that close to closing time, but otherwise a wasted trip AND what we had seen with the slides in looked really good. Next-level service: They offered to pull the trailer over to the building, hook it up to electric, and power on the a/c (it was a SUPER hot day). They suggested we go get a bite (with recommendation - the little place d'town was very good!), come back, and they'd leave it open for us to check out how well the a/c worked (and it did). Through calls and text we were able to negotiate a deal with Larry "Bighorn" (owner) on what we're very happy to have stumbled upon. Also, through calls and texts were we able to work with Larry to secure a transport* from Kansas to Michigan. *Rocky, was also nothing short of a kind, cautious and careful, professional. While there were some (unforeseen) issues that arose with the camper upon arrival and habitation (some rookie-owner, some mechanical), Larry was readily available to walk this rookie owner through both. One of the unforeseen issues required transport to a local dealer for repair. When that dealer was unable to return the trailer, two words: Larry.Bighorn. Upwards of one year after purchasing from Midwest RV, Larry was AGAIN able to be counted upon with the constant serve.us. that we'd come to know and appreciate. Not only was he able to locate another transporter for us, but Boyd was just as professional as all the others we'd come across orbiting Larry Bighorn. Midwest RV, Larry Bighorn - his staff, and the transports he was instrumental in arranging - have been nothing short of a timely, friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive group of business professionals with impeccable follow through and follow up. Perhaps evident, but I cannot say enough about the level of serve.us these folks have consistently doled out. This, coming from an individual with years in the service industry under her belt. (Or, said a with a bit more crass - a service snob; alternately, service witch with a 'b.')

Olathe Ford Rv Center - Brinkley I-294

They did inform me that they might not be able to get me in immediately, however, I was already at my wits end. I've been to three other dealers that day just trying to get some troubleshooting info and so the service manager, Justin told me to bring it by and they would maybe be able to make an assessment. What really impressed me is that these folks truly do care about your safety had my problem been something involved with a repair of something that didn't involve safety they might have taken a look and scheduled the repair at a later time, but considering I had no brakes on my brand new unit they did stop for just a few moments to take a look and see if there was something that we could resolve quickly and to my surprise, the problem was in fact very simple Justin and his team insured that I was back on the road safely with functioning brakes. Most times when you stop into an RV dealer, they are limited on their ability to help you because they don't have anybody to actually do the work, the folks at Olaza RV center have a large facility with incredibly helpful and talented staff. their primary concern is to get the job done right the first time and not just send you down the road with a patch. If you have a minor problem or a major problem that requires some time to be repaired, you can trust that these guys are doing their very best to ensure your travel. It's going to be safe and enjoyable. Stop by or call and see what these folks can do to make your RV adventure better !

The "service" department at Olathe Ford RV has the worst quality control I've ever experienced…read more Took RV to them Apr '25 to be dewinterized and put new sealant coat on the roof of 37' ft 5th wheel. Were told that the roof over the back half of RV needed to be replaced (different dealer issue). Had them replace it and then took the RV to the lake for the summer. When arriving at the lake the AC in the back half of the RV didn't work (I believe because Olathe Ford RV screwed up the AC as part of replacing the roof) and the refrigerator filter leaked to the point that we had to keep a pot in the refrigerator during waking hours, empty it frequently during the day and turn off water over night. (Working on the filter is part of dewinterization). Lived with these problems all summer '25 (incl buying a portable AC) rather than take it back to KC and not have use of the RV for multiple weeks over the summer. Took it back to Olathe RV Nov '25 for those repairs. They said AC wasn't working because of the compressor. Because we couldn't prove they caused the problem (even though we didn't have any problems with the AC at the front of the RV - the one they didn't touch) we paid to have the AC replaced. When picking up the RV they had left our batteries hooked up so they were dead. Walked the interior of the RV; there was a pop can and a bottle of cleaner and a rag left by their service department, the refrigerator leak wasn't fixed and the lighting fixture over the island had been dislodged from when they were working on the roof. They tried to save it was our fault, that it was dislodged during movement - BS. So we had to leave the RV again to get those items fixed. When picking it up in Jan '26, checked the back-up lights on the RV - they didn't work but we know they worked when we brought it in because that is something we check every time the RV is driven. Stayed at Olathe Ford RV to do all the diagnosis, e.g. was it a fuse, checked connection with our truck, etc. but you know what happened - the service person cut the electrical lines to the back up lights when replacing the AC. They tried to say "oh mice in the lot must have chewed the lines" - BS. So we had to argue with them but they kept it (again), fixed it and while they said it was mice, they didn't charge us. It was Feb '26 when we got the RV back. We took the RV to storage for the rest of the winter until this week when we took it back to the lake. When setting up at the lake we find that Olathe Ford RV left all the sewer lines open (it is illegal to drive highways with them open) so while we had emptied the tanks before taking the RV for service, the tanks are never 100% empty so when we opened the RV at the lake yesterday, there was sewage in the RV basement that had to be cleaned out. Also found that Olathe Ford RV had left the propane tanks open so the tanks were near empty (they were over 50% full when we brought the RV in for service) and they had unplugged the refrigerator to work on it but never plugged it back in. While that by itself is a small thing, because of all of the problems we have experienced with Olathe Ford RV service department, we spent over a 1/2 hour trying to figure out what was wrong with the refrigerator because they have screwed up so many things. Over the past few years we have spent more than $20K with Olathe Ford RV for the roof, AC replacement and other prior repairs but we will NEVER take our RV to them for service ever again and recommend that you never use their "service" either.
