It's been too long since we had chef Jimmy's omakase. It is clear in the years that have passed that chef has not missed a beat! Just as fresh, decadent, and insanely good value as we remember. Chef infused some of the courses with local ingredients which made the tasting truly one-of-a-kind. You have to reserve ahead of time, and they kindly accommodated our limited availability. We literally fast the day of, because this is not a light omakase, you will leave full with a smile on your face! The sushi bar is tucked in the back giving you the cozy omakase experience, but behind you is the family friendly table area if that's more your style. Speaking of we met several of chef's family members that night, a testament to the love and care that goes into the food and service. Same as every other time we've been, several "regulars" swung by to thank chef after their meal. Our server was so friendly and helpful. This place is clearly a community staple. Can't forget dessert (included with Omakase), we went with the tempura cheesecake and ube flan, and they were sooo good. We are also excited to try their other location, Sticky Rice!

Bestie and I came here to celebrate her bday! We love sushi so we decided to check out OTORO. The place is welcoming and the set up is wonderful. The ambiance is very high class with a touch of simplicity. Our server was very nice and checked on us in a timely manner. The food itself was decent/ okay. I enjoyed the coconut soup w/ shrimp but for a small bowl it was $12 which to me is alittle over the top BUT it tasted delicious. The sushi rolls were flavorful. The Tokyo fries --- ehh. I was expecting something more and it was honestly underwhelming. Now the dessert we got ...10/10! I believe it's the crème brûlée panan? Regardless it's absolutely delicious !! I would come back JUST for that. Overall I'm happy I checked out Otoro, I would definitely be back to try other options & get that dessert!

So this place was recommended because they have some great options for happy hour and I will say I was not disappointed. My daughter is a sushi lover and we decided to stop in here for their happy hour specials. They have great options for everyone and they are affordable and most of all delicious. The staff was very friendly and our host was making jokes with my daughter which warmed my spirit. The place is very nice and came be for a casual outing or a date night. Loved the look, the taste and the overall feel of the restaurant. It is ducked off in a plaza so it is a nice quiet place to eat. We will be back soon!!

Set back in the retail plaza behind the McDonald's at University Drive just north of 595, Otoro Sushi is a bit hidden. The eatery was buzzing on a Saturday evening with its modernly decorated dining room constantly filling up. Seating about 80, it also sports a sushi bar. Our server, Jensen, provided great service and excellent suggestions. I had an otoro version of a margarita. It came with sugar on the rim. Not to my liking. We ordered the coconut rock shrimp appetizer that came with large, meaty shrimp and a great dipping sauce. But the shrimp had no flavor and was very bland. We also had the tuna crispy rice. The presentation was lovely. But the appetizer was underwhelming. For dinner we had the cucumber skin roll with tuna, salmon, and a avocado. Again, a beautiful presentation with tuna that melted in your mouth. But again, not impressive. The standout was the curry udon with chicken katsu; thick, meaty udon noodles; and a delectable curry sauce so good I slurped up each drop. Of course we had to try the pandan creme brulee and the ube flan. The latter being the better of the two desserts. Dinner for two with 1 alcoholic drink, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, tax, and tip was $128.

I was very pleased with this experience. We were served with great attention and helpfulness. The décor is minimalist and modern with some Asian touches. From the menu, we chose: - Ari Tuna Crispy rice $14.00 (very tasty, the rice is perfectly crispy); - The Zen roll $10.00 (tasty, but I didn't really notice the mushroom flavor; it is better with soy sauce and wasabi); - Curry Udon $20.00 (the fried chicken is simply delicious; the size of the dish is well worth the price). All dishes arrived quickly, and the service was excellent.

First thing is first, I went here specifically to try the Bang Bang Noodles based on all of the rave reviews and found out when I got there that they took it off of the menu. Not sure why, but the table next to me wanted to order that as well. Seems odd to take such a popular item off of the menu, but none the less, I proceeded to order some sushi. The waitress was very friendly and fast. The rolls came out extraordinarily quick. I had the kamikaze, tsunami, and cucumber skin roll. All of them were food but the Tsunami was definitely my favorite of the three followed by the kamikaze. The kamikaze had dried salmon skin inside which I really liked and gave it a great texture with a light crunch. The ambiance is modern, cozy, and very clean.. All of the staff were very nice and overall service was spot on. Although I wasn't able to get what I came in for, it was still a good experience. Hopefully the Bang Bang Noodles find their way back in the menu at some point. But either way I would eat here again.

I didn't post this right after my visit, so I don't remember every menu detail. What I do recall is that while the service was fantastic, the food itself didn't quite meet my expectations. I've been to similar sushi spots where the quality was noticeably better, and for the price here, I was hoping for more of a "wow" factor. On the positive side, the drinks and atmosphere were both great, and the overall vibe was enjoyable. If I were rating just service, drinks, and aesthetics, I'd give it a 4. Unfortunately, the food quality brought my overall rating down.

Great food!! The place was packed and our server was so nice. The sushi was fresh and the fried rice was delicious. Great atmosphere too!

Grabbed a quick lunch here before flying out of the airport and it was SO good! Some of the best tasting sushi I've had honestly. It was all such smooth, flavorful & melt in your mouth sushi. Such a fantastic spot! Highly recommend.

Had a nice Valentine's Day lunch here with my honey. Our food and drinks were delicious! I ordered the lavender margarita and my bf ordered a sake Long Island ice tea. My drink was very smooth and tasted like a yummy lavender lemonade. As for food I ordered the surf & turf roll and my bf ordered the ribeye with wasabi chimichurri. My roll was very good and the steak was cooked perfectly. We both loved the wasabi chimichurri. We also ordered the tempura cheesecake for dessert. Everything was delicious and I loved the restaurant design with the pretty lit wall behind the sushi bar. I would love to come back and sit at the sushi bar.

The food and drinks were great, service was fast and the ambiance was very nice. This hidden gem is a must try. Everything we had was incredible. G14 and tsunami rolls and the Tokyo tea (pictured here) were delicious. The spicy tuna crispy rice and fried dumplings (not pictured) are the best I've ever had. I will definitely be back to try more of their menu.

Pandan Creme Brulee
Mai T.

I ordered the tsunami roll and it had a proportionate amount of rice and toppings in my opinion, it wasn't just a roll with a bunch if rice. The fish was fresh and smooth with a crunch from the shrimp tempura and I love a best of both worlds in texture. The edamame was chili garlic flavored and it was really good. It had a spice to the traditional edamame which I really liked. The ube flan was smooth and somewhat thick, I wish it had a stronger ube flavor, but nevertheless, it was still very tasty. The pandan creme brulee was very soft and reminded me of a mousse but I was able to taste the pandan flavor. The service was nice and he checked on us regularly. The ambiance and setup was nice and there weren't many people as we came in around noon when they opened. Overall, great experience!

Pretty restaurant, albeit smaller inside than it looks online. Good service and a great value with the Happy Hour menu. The food was super fresh although lacking a bit flavor wise, and presented very nicely. Had the Crunchee roll (meant to get the Yummy), calamari and lychee martini that gave me big apple juice notes on the tongue. Not opposed to trying other items but not pressed to return based on this taste. I implore you to explore as it is nice.

Alrighty this is rare for me, but this location is getting two stars…read more I want to start with review off by saying the food was not bad. It wasn't the food that was the issue it was the oddness of the service and my experience. 1) We were two people and clearly wanted a booth but apparently the were all taken so instead of sitting us at a table they say us at the tinest bar. 2) When I asked for eel sauce, she gave me terriaki instead and then proceeded to charge for it. I was like girl this is not eel sauce. I know eel sauce. It was terrible. 3) The sushi roll was so small. I ordered a rainbow roll and I was still hungry. Also I would like to add they didn't have tuna crispy rice!! 4) Paid almost $100 and for what? I don't feel like it was worth it. 5) Service was slow for not such a busy night. Overall my experience here was more like "it doesn't matter who you are, it's who you're with." Because this sushi spot sucked. I know such better places and for it being a second date with someone I didn't do a good job at picking this restaurant to eat at.

I had a great time the first time, and yep it's still that girl. Let's talk about the vibe real quick. The ambiance is everything. Modern, and just really well put together. From the furniture textures to the contrast in colors it all feels super intentional but still chill. Like, they knew what they were doing when they designed this place. 10/10 on the setting alone. Let's get down to the items shall we? What We Had Drinks ____________________ + Naori Signature Drink ($15) : 8.4/10 This one's made with Pisco Berries and Triple Sec. It's a layered, fruity cocktail that's a little more complex. Personally, I prefer the Pisco Sour it's cleaner and more balanced for my taste. But if you like citrusy and berry-forward drinks, you might love this one. Again, these are my reviews based on my taste buds. You might feel differently and that's ok honey. + Espresso Martini ($16) : 9/10 Strong, chocolatey, and gets the job done. + Lychee Martini ($16) : 8.6/10 Clean and balanced. Not too sweet, just smooth and refreshing + Pisco Sour ($16) : 10/10 My fave. Fruity, with this nice cold foam on top. Pretty sure there were peach or passionfruit notes in there. So good. * Shots - We also did a round (Don Julio, I think), and it kept the vibe going. Appetizers/Entrees __________________ +Nikkei Tiradito ($19) : 10/10 Thin tuna slices with a shouyu sauce that had a little citrusy kick. I could've had another plate just for myself. +Grilled Octopus ($20) : 8.4/10 This was good! Cooked well, had a nice char. Not my favorite thing on the table, but still strong comes with Peruvian corn and potato. +Arroz Chaufa Special ($24) : 10/10 Babyyy this dish was everything. Wok-fried rice, perfectly seasoned. That filet was so tender, and the shrimp just brought it all together. Easy standing ovation for me. * Dessert - I honestly can't remember what we ordered for dessert, but it was decent. Nothing crazy. I'd give it a 7/10. Overall Experience: 10/10 Customer Service: 10/10 Would I Be Back? Without a doubt. I even told my mom about this place and I think she went a couple months ago! Amazing Sushi and Always Fresh!…read more This place never disappoints! The fish is always incredibly fresh, and the quality is consistently excellent. You can really taste the difference! We especially love ordering the chef's choice omakase sushi and sashimi. The selection is always amazing, with such a nice variety of fresh fish. I also love how creative they are with the sushi! Each piece is beautifully presented, with unique toppings, sauces, and little touches that bring out the flavors without overpowering the fish. It's always exciting to see what the chef comes up with. The presentation is just as impressive as the quality of the food. Everything looks beautiful and tastes even better! The fresh sashimi, creative sushi combinations, and attention to detail keep us coming back. Service is the best too! It smelled so, so good. I had called and the guy said they were not busy. We walk in and the lady asked if we had a reservation. Wish he would have mentioned that but anyway, we were sat right away. Our server took quite a while to come over. When she did, she was very nice. We started with Kirin beers that were ice cold. He ordered some fancy eel roll. I had a piece but I am not a fan of eel. It did seem well put together. My JB roll was the best one I ever had. Truly delicious and fresh. We also ordered Mongolian beef. This was really delicious and not overly salted. I was surprised the portion wasn't bigger for a $25 price. Still, very tasty. The side dish of brown rice came about 10 minutes after the dish arrived. This was a bit annoying. We ordered the fried rice with chicken and shrimp later on. When it arrived, I thought it didn't look great. That all changed when I tasted it. The flavors here for the hot food items are very authentic. This dish doesn't seem to photograph well either but let me tell you, it is awesome! There are big tasty shrimps in there, maybe 6 of them. They don't even really show up here. The chicken is also fantastic. This is an excellent restaurant I want to go back to soon.
