Another landscaper wanted 500 - 1000 dollars just to consult and draw a pretty picture of what our yard *could* look like. Then I reached out to BAM's. Initially I reached out just about the front and side yards and sent them pictures. They offered me quote based on what I wanted done (spring cleanup and mulch installation), and I accepted. They quickly got me scheduled and when the day came, they did just an amazingly efficient job (much, much faster than I ever thought possible) and a very thorough one (it wasn't just fast, it was well done). The three guys who did the work were just incredibly friendly and professional, and did the beds in the backyard too, much to my very happy surprise (the quote wasn't in fact limited to the front and sides, but I was so overwhelmed with what I thought were the worst parts of the yard, I neglected that fact). My wife can now walk outside without feeling overwhelmed about all there is to do. I would work again with BAM's in a heartbeat.

There's a reason I waited until I moved across the country to post this reviewed. I was scared! Giving this business your credit card is a carte blanche for them to rack up charges. You are not charged for each visit, but for months at a time. The explanation is that weekly visits are not guaranteed, but your contract guarantees them weekly payment. I was charged extra to weed wack part of my yard that had a gradual 6-in elevation difference and therefore was not mowed or edged for months. No permission was sought of course for this extra charge.

Carl came in to sit down with us and understand our needs, since we need to have snow plowed pretty early being in the moving industry so trucks can get out to our customers on time. A month later, the first snow came in where we needed our lot to be plowed. Howell Brothers came in early and made sure everything was clear and pushed the snow into places that would not get in the way of anything else. After receiving the invoice, it was fair price and no surprises at all. We look forward to using Howell from now on for snow removal!

She seemed very knowledgeable and competent. She gave us an estimate and said she would email us a formal estimate. She said they could do the work in about 2 weeks. We did get the formal estimate in about a week. We agreed to it and date was confirmed for Thursday June 17th @ 11am to do the job. By noon time on the given date no one showed. Upon calling the company all you could get was an answering machine. Left messages and also emailed our contact. Didn't hear anything for a few days and then received an email apologizing that no one had called us to tell us they couldn't make it that day. She now offered us a discount if we would give them a second chance to make things right. We agreed and gave them a choice of dates that would work. Long story, we never heard back from them. At this point I would give them no stars if I could. Hired another company. They were great!

Work…read moreincluded two wooden retaining walls and two rock-lined swales connected to an underground drainage pipe to manage rainwater run off on a steep hillside, as well as replacement of our main concrete-reinforced cinder block retaining wall. We initially contracted with Stone Garden for the rain management work in late spring. The work was fast - estimated at 1-2 weeks but done in 3 days! At one point they had 7 people on site. The working crew was very thoughtful - they helped us move daffodil bulbs disturbed by the construction, carefully cleaned up after the work, and even helped my husband move some bags of yard waste unrelated to their work. A torrential storm followed this first project, leading to the failure of our (pre-existing) main retaining wall. We turned to Stone Garden to replace it, upgrading with some additional drainage features and a brick facade. It was difficult to get the follow on work scheduled due to communication delays and a busy calendar of other projects. After two months the follow on work started. While the retaining wall was built fairly quickly it took another month for the masons to come finish the brick facade. I had other outdoor work scheduled and luckily we were able to deconflict it. Overall, the work is high quality, reasonably priced, and is holding up well. Sam and his team are skilled and professional. Just get scheduled early, the Stone Garden team is in high demand!

I hired Stone Garden to perform several tasks based on the recommendation of someone I know. I…read moresincerely regret hiring them and do not recommend them. Each task they were hired to perform had issues. For example, I asked them to trim back bushes. They trimmed them back so much that my neighbor called me, concerned that now we had zero foliage providing privacy between our yards. Despite my instructions, Stone Garden trimmed back essentially to the stump and I was left with twigs in the ground and had to wait for months before they started regrowing. I also asked them to build stairs off of my deck and to replace a gate door. The stairs they constructed were not level and the gate door was not flush so it did not latch properly. I had to contact them to repair these issues but the stairs are still not much better. The last straw was that I hired them to acquire a permit for additional work. The permit drawings they prepared were not at all what we discussed. Rather, they showed extensive changes that I did not request. Upon expressing my concern about the inaccuracies with the drawings, I was told they were trying to show me "what was possible." I didn't ask for that so it wasted weeks of my time as I waited for new drawings. The new drawings were also problematic and proposed removing and relocating a full-grown tree -- again, not something I requested so we had to again discuss revising the drawings. The third version of the drawings were still not what I envisioned but I was told as long as it was close enough, we could submit the permit application. They submitted the permit application in September. As expected, the city had questions and comments. Stone Garden did not reply to these comments. They also did not reply to my emails or phone calls. Months passed. Finally, I heard from the owner in February. I was given a lot of excuses and apologies -- but no actual progress on my permit application or description of next steps or milestones. More time elapsed with no action or updates from Stone Garden. I finally reached out to the city myself and learned that my permit application had been terminated due to lack of activity. Stone Garden never informed me of this status. The city also provided me the comments that has been sent to Stone Garden which made it very apparent that Stone Garden is not equipped to manuever the permitting process. I've since spoken to several other contractors and they noted it was very apparent that Stone Garden does not understand the city permitting requirements based on the application they submitted and the questions they received from the city. I have since contacted the owner and requested a partial refund, along with all correspondence with the city and documentation submitted for my permit application since this is my intellectual property. I received no response at all and no partial refund. If you want quality work and good communication, look elsewhere. I do NOT recommend.

They are careful around plants and do a great job cleaning up after yard work. Have had them reseed my lawn and do some minor tree work too. Good price and good service.
