If I could post no stars, I would however I am forced to reward one just to get this review posted for the world to see.
I entrusted a unique, irreplaceable painting to Osio Brown for digital photography related to the 25th anniversary re-release of my film in 2018 that it was originally commissioned for. This 27 x 40 artwork was the key art to Lifetime Television's first original movie "Solstice", which I produced and directed. With weather conditions interfering with their regular business hours in 2019 when I was to pick it up, some time passed, then the pandemic in 2020. Everything was on lockdown. Upon reconnecting with the gallery to arrange picking the painting up in early 2021, I was told first they couldn't find it, then it had been "donated or recycled", then upon demanding they produce my property for return, that they had THROWN IT OUT when they were remodeling the front windows of the studio. Think about that. Instead of contacting a client to coordinate an appointment for pickup, this art gallery THREW AWAY a one of a kind painting representing the branded identity for a motion picture. The lack of respect or regard for this piece was staggering, and after further efforts to request the name of their insurance liability carrier, they claimed they HAVE NO INSURANCE LIABILITY CARRIER. They also claimed that they had the right to discard my property because it became their property when it wasn't picked up after 90 days, although they made no efforts to contact me after the original appointment was cancelled because of inclement weather. Then they claimed that had a sign up at their front desk stating this policy, which was clearly posted AFTER I discovered their wanton destruction of my painting to deflect any responsibility and suggest their behavior was my fault.
To this very day I am SICK to my stomach that the gallery owner engaged in every obfuscation and dodge to reveal what he had really done with my property, until his lawyer admitted in a correspondence what really happened with the suggestion there was even an excuse for the gallery having a right to destroy this work.
I've included images and scans to support the facts below for everyone to see. Make of it what you will. If you love art, respect artists, don't want your own precious property potentially carelessly discarded while entrusted in their care, do not patronize this gallery. No matter what time frame that a gallery would look at this detailed, beautiful work and think it better to throw away than contact the owner for pickup as if it took up any amount of space that interfered with replacing the front windows of their storefront, the behavior and subsequent snow job reflects either a complete disconnect or utter disrespect and contempt for customers, artwork owners and the spirit of what art is all about and treasured. read more
