Since I was going to be in the area, the next day, I gave this Staples in Oak Lawn a call last Tuesday. A very nice woman in the print shop answered my call and tried to give me as much info as she could regarding how much it might cost : range of charge for "design team*, approximate cost of a sheet of cards, cost for cutting the cards. I did some rough math from the info she gave me, and figured I could probably get the job done for $50 or less and decided to stop there the next day. The print shop is on the right as you enter the store. There was a clerk behind the counter and a guy on the customer side. Although I did not really listen to their conversation, I got the feeling that I was interrupting a conversation more than a business transaction as I stood off to the side talking to my cousin. The clerk was pleasant enough, however, not as informative as the clerk on Tuesday night. All she could tell me is that it had to be sent to the "design team" and it seemed like the price for that service sounded more expensive than the night before. I just didn't feel very confident in this clerk relaying what I wanted to the "design team", so I decided to go to the printer I used in the past and am I ever glad that I did! Staples Overall I always liked Staples and have been to a number of them in past years, including this one. Perhaps it was because it was such a gray day, but the store felt a bit depressing the day I stopped in. We really didn't have time nor need to do any other shopping, so I can't speak to any other thing other than the store seemed pretty empty around 11 AM that Wednesday morning. She made it sound like it was no big deal, so I paid $59.95 for assembly. Did not find out until 2 days later that the people delivering the chair did NOT assemble the chair. No, had to wait for another appointment for that. Then once I found out the delivery date I asked for the driver to call me either when they were on the way or when they arrived because 1) my doorbell does not work and 2) I am a senior and disabled. I did not think that was too much to ask. I was told, "We don't do that. Our drivers do not call." I also wanted them to just push the box in through the door. Don't have to bring it into the house, just push it through the door while standing on the porch, "We don't do that. We don't do in home delivery." WTH??? And then I asked for at least a delivery window time, you know, like 9:00 to 12:00 or 10:00 to 2:00, some sort of timeframe . I was told, "9:00 to 5:00, that's our window." That's ALL DAY. Because they refused to call on arrival and just push it through the doorway I needed to have somebody at my house because I am disabled and cannot go on the porch and drag a box inside. That meant I would have to have somebody sitting here waiting ALL DAY LONG for them to arrive. I put a BIG sign on my door that said, "STAPLES, please call when you get here. My doorbell does not work and I am disabled." No call, nothing. One of my neighbors called and said, "Hey, there's a big box on your porch." The IDIOTS just left it out there. Not only did I talk to customer service, but I also spoke to the President's Office and I got the same response from both. "We don't do that." Then when I called to complain about the wobble in the chair I was told that I should take it apart and return it, but they will not come out to disassemble the chair. If I want to return it I have to bring it back to the store or put it back in the box and ship it to them. What kind of CRAPPY company doesn't do a basic courtesy to help out a senior disabled customer? STAPLES, that's what kind of company!!! And then the day after the man came to assemble it when I sat in it and leaned back it wobbled. Clicks and wobbles on the left side. Seriously??? So this morning I was able to get someone to come and put this hunk of junk chair that Staples sold to me in the trunk of the car and return it for a full refund. I will NEVER set foot in a Staples store again. I won't buy so much as a post-it note from them. Never been treated so rudely in my life. And when I called to tell the store that I would be bringing it back this morning and why the manager/assistant manager that I spoke to was completely dismissive. "Yeah, yeah, I've already read your whole complaint." Real nice. RUDE, OBNOXIOUS and NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY. In two words, Staples Sucks.

So today I went in the store to make 3 Xerox copies/one sided, not color--just standard copies. I was floored when I was charged $3.86 for 3 Xerox copies which comes to $1.29 per copy. And that includes the tax they now charge but there was never taxes on Xerox copies before this--anywhere! Their charge for a Xerox copy has always been 17 cents a piece so for UPS to raise it to this amount is absolutely ridiculous. That's a 658.8% increase in price! It's not like they are providing high quality paper & the ink is average--nothing special. I had always came here because it was the least expensive for copies & now it is the most expensive. I'm retired so I no longer have access to a Xerox machine but they are all running us dry with the cost of everything so now you can't even get a simple Xerox copy for a reasonable price so needless to say, I won't be making my copies there anymore & this even prompts me to not want to do any business with the UPS store whatsoever.
