Great work, super reasonable price. Crafted a new leg for an antique chair indistinguishable from the original.

They have a wonderful mix of vintage pieces, antiques, collectibles and unique finds that you don't typically come across in regular stores. I especially love shops where you can take your time browsing and always discover something new. The whole place has a great atmosphere and so much character. You can really appreciate the history and personality behind the items. Whether you are searching for something specific or just shopping around to see what catches your eye, it is definitely worth a visit. One of those places you want to keep coming back to because you never know what treasures you will find next! Highly recommend!

My first visit to Golden Treasures was almost 10 years ago. I don't know if they have expanded…read moretheir store since my last visit, but it is small in comparison to many other Asian antiques stores I have been to in Alhambra, San Gabriel, Los Angeles, etc. However, I found so much more quality, beautiful and fairly priced pieces in their store than I found in all the other stores put together! I made several trips to their store over the first year or two and got to know the owners pretty well. They are the nicest couple you would ever want to meet! And, they are very accommodating, too! I was looking for a certain piece and the wife (sorry, I can't remember their names, although I'm sure I have it written down somewhere) made a buying trip to China and brought back exactly what I wanted. Luckily, after a while, I couldn't fit any more furniture or accessories in my house (plus I ran out of money) or I would have to rent storage space. I am planning on visiting their store in a couple of weeks. It's like going to a fine arts museum for me and (the wife) explains the history of the pieces. I could browse their merchandise for hours. I wanted to let everybody know that my experience with this store was very positive, unlike Jeremy's visit. He did not indicate how familiar he is with Asian antiques. I'm getting the feeling that he hasn't had much exposure to authenic pieces and perhaps he might not appreciate these works of art that might have a scratch on it, or something that is from a period that didn't have tools to make something "perfect". That's just my opinion and, of course, I could be wrong, But, I wish he would give them another chance. I'll try to remember to do a follow-up after my visit.

You will not find anything under $100. I just wanted a simple Buddha statue and walked out with nothing. Owner asked if I wanted it for religious reasons or for decoration. I was thinking it doesn't really matter because I can't afford any of them anyway. Even those little 2 inch Asian figurines are at least $99. Absolutely insane. Owner was making up prices out of her head. She quoted me $120 for a basic Buddha statue and then quoted me $80 after she saw my reaction. A simple, ceramic Kuan Yin statue about 15 inches tall was in the 700's... She told me 'it's ceramic' as if that was a justification for the price. The items are beautiful, but this place would be better off as a museum to admire the items from a distance. The owner clearly doesn't want to sell anything keeping her store locked up with ridiculous prices.

The street layout was mapped out during the local land boom that was tied to the railroad. Today, it still remains a quaint row of Old World shops. We walked past a few antique shops, the Ace Hardware store that's been the town's cornerstone since 1935, as well as the famous 1887 Queen Anne-style Victorian "Walker House" and home to Vincenzo's Terrazza Italian restaurant. We walked into Bonita Antiques mainly because the authentic Polynesian vibe invited us in. Indeed, all the Tiki, Hawaiian, and Rattan pieces felt authentic. The owner was lovely and shared how he sources his furniture and pieces from reputable dealers who specialize in this theme. So if you're looking for Hula girl souvenirs, tiki mugs, vintage Hawaiian furniture, or anything Polynesian, definitely stop in. My little guy was mesmerized by the rotary phone for a while until another distraction stole his attention. He picked out a necklace and said that he wanted it, and would even use his allowance money. But I let him save his allowance money for being a good sport. I believe this trinket is called a Maori Koru, if I remember correctly. He wore his necklace with pride as we walked out and continued our mini day trip window shopping and strolling down Bonita Avenue. So now I know who to bring antique shopping with me next time, as well.
