Found out today that Persnickity rents booths to people who sell Nazi memorabilia and refuse to be accountable for the use of their space to do so. It's appalling that this business would show such a lack of responsibility and care. This sort of behavior cannot be tolerated. When I called to speak with them they told me they were not responsible for what people sold in their space and that I should just understand that sometimes it's just like this. This place sells only trash with expensive prices on it. There are signs stating that everything is 50% and the cashier doesn't grantee it. I got a cracked thing that it is very hard to notice and called them to ask for an exchange but they said NO EXCHANGE NOR RETURNS which is a bad policy for the trash they sell. Do not waste your money buying things there. It is better to give the money to charities or places that promote less fortunate people wellbeing. read more

I was intrigued to go into this store, and thought many of their items were great. But they have a whole section behind locked glass of nazi memorabilia. I walked out as soon as i saw that. Extremely disappointed. This stuff should be donated to the museum of tolerance or the Smithsonian, If they even want it. This is sensitive material that spreads hate, and should be in a place to educate people, not for resale. read more

This is one of my favorite places of all time, anywhere, of anything and everything. Its a bonafide time capsule, a hoarder's delight, a place where all time screeches to a halt, a time-waster, a worm-hole, the last of the tech-less, rush-less, unplugged bastions of expertly curated junque/treasure in this quadrant of the universe. I can spend the better part of a Saturday afternoon slowly, methodically browsing every booth, reminiscing, mumbling to myself, daydreaming (or hallucinating), leisurely flipping through 1980's cassette tapes, lps, old lady hats, sets of dishes, old timey tools, 19th-century postcards, and doll-house furniture. It is so comforting, yet so melancholy, because I know someday it will be gone. When old-town Pomona becomes gentrified, and I will rue that day, places like this most likely will be converted into (insert shudder) Joe's Crab Shack or Houston's. Its bound to happen, but until then, enjoy it and enjoy it well. This visit I was blessed to be rung up by the Mr. and Mrs., and they are a utter delight. Remember 1992? Remember how it was kind of an okay year? Remember your cousin that's been living in your grandparent's basement since 1992, won't shut up about how great it was and still claims to be working at Tower records? You know *exactly* who and what I'm talking about. Now I am going to ask you to put on your imagination hat and close your eyes. Imagine if all of the those cousins that existed in southern California emptied the contents of their basement into a giant store and threw price tags on it. Okay, so that's pretty much Persnickety Antiquity. Although, I think my trip to the imagination station has provided ample evidence of what lies in PA, in the instance that I haven't here's what's up: Persnickety Antiquity is a *kind of* antique mall flourishing with a bounty of 80's and 90's records, cassettes and videotapes; while some stalls leer away from the typical " my wizardy cousin's clutter and provide either a. actual antiques or b. stuff from last month's sale rack at target, the majority of stuff sits in my previously stated description. There's lots of cool jazz i'd love to dump all over my apartment and irritate my cat with. Several of the vendors have a pretty legit selection of records and although many may *appear* overpriced in comparison to what you'd find at most record stores it's in a similar range. If you are a VHS nut like myself, many of the stalls at PA also serve some pretty interesting films ( again, many are overpriced and it's a bit of a dig but there are definitely some gems). I also found countless hobnob's and whatsits that looked awesome but the prices were just not competitive with other purveyors of old jazz I knew of. Here's my warning: You gotta dig here. When I first walked in, I thought I'd entered the worst pile of junk imaginable. After a few minutes of walking around and puttering through stalls I began to find snappy jazz. If you don't have the patience, this isn't the place for you. If you don't have the patience, you actually probably shouldn't be on antique row. Since it is an antique market and the price's vary greatly by stalls it's hard to give a strong consensus about whether this place is a bargain or a steal; it's without a doubt that many of the items here can be found at thrift stores, online ( or in your cousin's basement) for a lot less money but unfortunately some of the options take work and energy and ain't nobody got time for dat, PA offers a much more instantly gratifying option. The truth is that you probably won't find the lowest price on anything in the store but the good news is that since nothing in the store is particularly unique it can be found online ( on a smartphone. HELLO) with great ease and if there is something you're dying I to get in the store, I would suggest doing that before shelling out bones on the spot for said item. The staff here was super dee duper friendly. I was not in the store for too long and both employees asked if I needed help finding anything. It did occur to me that they could have been checking up on me to make sure that I wasn't shoving Star Trek videotapes down the front of my yoga pants but that is neither here nor there. Persnickety definitely offers up some cool items; while the prices are not always the lowest and for the most part, this ain't an antique mall in it's truest sense, it's worth a peek ( unless you have a generous cousin) read more

Planned a long awaited day of antiquing in Pomona today and our first stop happened to be this store. Thank goodness because it is one of the best antique stores we have been in. A HUGE selection and with very reasonable prices! Lots of deals and Lauren and the other woman were so incredibly helpful and just lovely. There was other floors but we only did the main floor. We had such a wonderful time and we will definitely go back and finish exploring. Go visit this Saturday May 25, 2019. The whole of downtown will be having a street fair! Make sure you stop here first for the best deals. read more

First off I'd like to say that I really didn't want to leave a negative review. This store is our neighbor, and we bought a percolator from them last week and we tried to use it and it doesn't work, we take it in and they tell us it's final sale. It really irritated me because it wasn't cheap, and it wasn't disclosed to us at time of purchase. And being that our business is right across street, I really thought we could at least get credit toward another. We didn't go demand money back, but we didn't want to have wasted our money either. It's a shame, won't be shopping there that's for sure. Most of their stuff is overpriced anyway, we were just trying to support by shopping local. What a bummer! read more

This is the store I first discovered on antique row after finding out I love vintage and antique tea cups and jewelry and could buy it offline. I have been able to find items that I thought I would never find in this lifetime. For example: I desperately wanted a lamp for my french-antique styled bedroom. I didn't want one of those really yellow fake-gold lamps. Every lamp I tried either overwhelmed the bedroom, or didn't compare with other decor in the room. Alas, I found an absolutely ornate lamp that wasn't too big, or too small, and was equipped with a new lampshade and came with a bulb at Persnickity Antiquity. Imagine my surprise when I found out this lamp, was only $20!!! It's absolutely perfect, and illuminates the room well. This was a few months ago, last week, I was able to find an antique tea cup from Germany. These German tea cups are rarer than rare and aren't shaped like normal cups. The price was $45 I believe, it was already on sale, I ended up getting it for $17 after asking for a lower price. I have gone to different antique stores that actually specialize in tea cups, and still have been unable to have the luck I have had at this store anywhere else. Out of 15 visits to the same tea cup-selling stores, I have still ended up empty handed. At Persnickity Antiquity, about half the time, I am able to find something I am very excited about. This is not including the number of cups my Mother has found for me here as surprise gifts! The staff is kind, and they don't mind you roaming around for over an hour. They don't rush you out when closing time is nearing and you don't notice. read more

I like this place. I have been here many times and was able to find some obsolete electric coffee pot cords that I needed. Occasionally the booths change, giving the store a refreshed feel with new items but there are always bargains to be found. Check them out when you are browsing the district. read more

This place is not your usual antique shop; it's a three-story emporium. Again, I found several gifts to put away for the holidays. And there were so many discounts - 10% to 50%, depending upon the vendor's stall. I usually hate shopping, but today was a definite exception. "I Love Lucy" fans? Lovers of "Wizard of Oz," "Mickey Mouse," or "Marilyn Monroe?" Pssst.....your treasures are here, too! Come get 'em. Model railroaders, sports team collectors, and those who appreciate early 1900's furniture, silverware, and vintage kitchen appliances will find something, too. Just make sure to wear your comfortable walking shoes, and be prepared to be here for a long time, browsing. Staff eager to help will come around periodically to check on you, and to take the armloads of finds that are certain to be going home with you. I have been going to Pomona for over 25 years or more back in the hay day of antique shops there, unfortunatly most are gone there. This one is ok but I dont seem to find alot to buy, need new sellers selling real antiques like signs gas pumps antique toys gum machines and less of the newer stuff but once in a while find a good item. read more

I really love this place. Some of there things are really pricey but you can find great deals as well ! I bought such cute handmade potholders for 50 cents. A cute bear ballerina blanket for 6 dollars! and some really cute half aprons for 5 dollars ! I also got a full apron for $6. This place is amazing. The service is also really good. The older people working here are so cute and cheery! Its not as big as the pomona antique mart but the people here are a lot nicer which goes along way for me! Also I can't get over the deals I got with all my handmade items =) they were shabby chic and the right price for me! read more

Huge collection of random vintage antiques! So much old goodies it feels like you are going back in time. Everything from vinyls to Skelton keys. It is pretty amazing at what you can find. There are three stories to this place but I was only in the mood to check out the first story. Tons of old cameras, logos, brands, even vintage toys. I love wandering around antique stores just for fun.... There's just always so much to see! Persnickity Antiquity is located amongst several other antique stores in Pomona's Antique Row. It was my first time visiting Antique Row and Persnickity Antiquity was the very first store I walked into. I was in the hunt for an old suitcase or train case to use as a prop for my engagement photo shoot. The workers were extremely helpful and were able to point me in the right direction. Each of the booths are individually owned so they all have their own sales an promotions. I was able to find the perfect overnight/train case to use for my wedding. It was in perfect vintage condition, no stains on the inside... And it was only $25! Cheaper than I've seen on even craigslist and in WAY better condition than most. Then I came across a second vintage train case that showed a little more wear and tear, but it was 60% off bringing it to only $12! I just couldn't pass it up, so I bought both. I found exactly what I was looking for and the price was unbeatable. Definitely looking forward to going back again and hopefully finding more vintage pieces to use for my wedding. read more
