Well, I've tried food from Oscar's twice now. The first time I had the Nacho Libre; Nachos. They were okay. Nothing to write home about. I'd rather have Taco Bell Nachos. The guacamole was the bright green imitation guacamole that you find in super markets. The meat was under seasoned. The chips were actually pretty tasty. My second try was a salad with turkey and bacon. The greens were 90% fresh. The other 10% were old and brown. The "bacon" consisted of perhaps one slice, if not less, of overcooked bacon. The turkey was actually sliced turkey from a package that was just laid on top of the salad in one whole piece. I know this is more of a truck stop type of place, but you would think they could take the time to make an effort in the presentation of their food. read more

Oscar's themed restaurant on Oscar night. No special promotion going on. They might as well take down all the posters, and hire a greeter named Oscar. I had a pan fried rib eye steak and a mashed baked potato. The food was excellent, waitress and staff were friendly and attentive. Food came out fast. This is "THE" place in Limon Colorado. I have been there 2 times since i have moved to Limon for the lack of any other sit down restaurant besides Denny's and probably won't be back. I ordered an almost $10 hamburger with swiss. What I got was a frozen patty that you can go to the grocery store and buy a dozen for $8.00 with a slice of what is called "processed swiss" but in all actuality is nothing but a slice of american cheese that is white. The menu - which is a lot of fun in itself - offers a wide variety of well prepared meals. The service was great and the food was delicious. The owner checked on us while we enjoyed our food, and was engaging and sincere. The restaurant was clean and staff were efficient and personable. Was looking forward to a good meal but instead got a cold undercooked steak, halibut that was very dry, mashed potatoes that needed 1/4 lb of butter to get them down, and watermelon served as the veggie. The Pepsi didnt taste like Pepsi so I asked for dark rum to add. They only had a no name brand and charged me $6 for the whole drink. YES WE ARE A FAN!!! Oscar's Pub & Grill took great care of my wife and I:) We are traveling through Limon and our Pittsburgh Steelers were playing the home team broncos. So we thought we needed to show up in our Steelers gear:) Mark the bartender made sure we never were without a beverage or felt out of place:) Friendly waiting staff would come over to see how the game was going and added fun chippyness about our teams:) The food was perfectly done classically cafe style with their own flare YUM!!! My wife had the fried chicken and I had the chicken fried steak YUM!!! We will not be back. The best phrase to describe both meals would be "institutional grade".....served at a hospital or school cafeteria where the kitchen does not know the word "chef". We were seated in the bar at a bistro-style table for two....we were there to have dinner. Orders were taken from two tables that were seated after us. When we FINALLY received our meals, both plates of food were hot but that's about the only good thing I can say about it. I ordered the chopped steak with mashed potatoes and brown gravy and my husband ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and white gravy. We both had mixed vegetables (green beans, carrots, and a tease of broccoli). No bread of any kind was served. Stopping through on our way to Colorado Springs, this restaurant came recommended by the front desk staff at our hotel. It was a great break from all the chain restaurants we've been eating at since leaving from Ohio a couple of days ago. Our hostess and waitress were both very nice and accommodating. We had worked up an appetite driving all day and certainly did not leave hungry. I ordered the fish and chips. It was delicious. Their coleslaw was very good. I ordered the pot roast, which was way too salty. I complained to the waitress and told her that I was not going to be able to eat it. There was no attempt to offer me an alternative or to comp my meal. She just brought by check, took my plate away, and didn't say any more about the food. I am an out-of-towner on my way to Dallas, TX from Missoula, Montana. I got off of a ten hour drive and wanted a Vodka tonic so I popped in. I have a WA license because I went to school there- it is completely legit with hologram and all any any cop could check it quickly and see it's real. I was denied service because the bartender said he could not accept this ID. I suggested he call the police to verify it, to which he responded "I want to do the right thing, and I can't accept this ID." These jerks don't take too kindly to outsiders I guess. The bartender was an older man, probably 40's or 50's with a ridiculous double-unbuttoned collared shirt that looked like something from a teenage clothing mecca like abercrombie or something. I had a chicken quesadilla and it was just okay. The tortilla was not a white flour tortilla, rather some flavored tortilla. The chicken was well spiced and tasty. The tomatoes and lettuce on my plate were nothing I wanted to eat. My husband and daughter ate their food up. I also ordered a side salad, which was very basic. We searched "breweries" in Limon, Co. Oscars came up as the first choice. Reviews were promising as an option for a meal other than fast food, which appealed to us. We also were looking to have a decent beer, which is why we searched "breweries". 1. This is a not a brewery. I would say it is closer to a truck stop/diner. 2. No beer on tap. 3. Clean, aside from the flies. I did see the side door open near bar and I assume that is how they came in. Just annoying...but it was clean. 4. We ordered a half rack baby back ribs. It was mid afternoon and my husband and I were not starving so we thought we would share the meal. 5. We ordered the ribs, and told the waitress we would like to share . She said it was an addional charge of 1.99 to share. 6. The salad bar , if you call it that, was an additional charge of 1.99. Keep in mind, your plate will be the size of a small salad/dinner salad plate. The salad bar consisted of ice berg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, shredded package cheese and a handful of typical dressings. I was not told I could go back for more at the salad bar. Perhaps you can, but I wasn't told. 7. Our ribs came out on 2 plates, 1 slab approx.4" in length. There was a handful of fries on each plate. I would guess about 12-15 fries each. The visual was pretty sad. 8. The taste was even more disappointing . I would guess they were microwaved 9. I don't have an opinion on the fries. They were that unimpressive. 10. About halfway into our meal, my husband asked if we could get dinner rolls and if they also cost extra. She said yes, 4 were included in our meal. I am not sure why we had to ask for them. She brought 2. They were definitely frozen and heated. I did not even eat mine. :( 11. The price for our meal was $25 plus tip. 12. I would def not go here again nor recommend it. I entered with a service dog and was IMMEDIATELY greeted with I cant ket you in.... I told the girl the dog was a service animal and she demanded paperwork to PROVE it .... Not legal .... Told she legally could not ask for that and was seated ... In a bit a very large man came and accosted me at my table informed me that if i didn't show papers and vet papers he was kicking me out it was his place and he could do what he wanted ... He "guessed" that since I was not showing paperwork it was not a service animal ... When given her id card he demanded to know where it was issued and finally decided to let me stay and eat ...
