Just retrieved my model 60 head. When dropping off for rebuild I requested to be notified and give approval if the rebuild was going to exceed $500, as the initial estimate was $345. Did not hear from Osby. I even reviewed my cal logs to see if I may have missed a call, no call. Imagine my surprise when handed a bill for 37% higher than the max I had approved. Their total attempt at a remedy was "We got busy", pay or we keep the head. Years ago, I had a very good experience with them, obviously something has changed. read more

After discovering a small leak on the top of the timer unit on the water softener, we called yesterday to have someone come look at it because we had water leaking down to the floor carpeting. They came out today and repaired it in very quick order. Replaced all the seals and some of the screws in order to make it fully sealed and serviced. Shawn was an excellent technician who is very friendly and kept us informed of what the problem was. Can't say enough about Oby water conditioning. We have worked with them for over 40 years and would always recommend them as being top notch service. read more

So... the filter is still great. Amazing as in my initial review but I am updating because the service this past appt wasn't nearly as good as previous ones. Within our contract is a filter replacement service which they come out to do annually. You simply have to call to make an appt. The girl on the phone was great, very efficient. The guy shows up... It's wet outside and I have to request for him to please put on boot covers. He has to go back to his truck to retrieve said boot covers. He does his thing and leaves. Great. I didn't think to check things out cuz our past experiences were so great but later notice there's "stuff" left on my floor. Not sure what it is really. Just a beige color specks of something. Fine. I vacuum it up. Then a few days later my son mentions how the bottom of our sink is different and inconvenient for him to do the things he needs to get done. I look and all our stuff under there had been rearranged. I know the service guy had to move things around to get the filter changed. That's understandable and I had no problem reorganizing (cuz that's just my thing). I just wish I had checked earlier... my poor son. Regardless, the previous guys had put all our things back EXACTLY as they had been and left no mess for me to vacuum up. But still a great company as far as my filter is concerned. But if you wanna keep five stars with me, it's gotta be pretty close to perfect. ^_~ read more

Good prices and decent product. So why the 3 stars? My point of contact with the business, a man by the name of Dave, is difficult to deal with. I am not sure if he is rude or was just having a bad day when I talked to him. Whatever the case may be, in the business world you need to keep a certain composure when talking to people. You can't get all "butt hurt" and aggressive when the client asks for things. I am going to a different company even though I will be paying more. I would strongly urge the owners of the business to supervise this man if he is going to have any contact with potential clients. read more

Do not use this company! OSBY installed their softener system in my house, hooked it up wrong, and sent salt water outside my house through the sump pump and killed my grass. They will not pay me for any replacement and it cost me over $400 to have it fixed Terrible company read more

I missed soft water. My parents had a Kinetico through Osby years and years ago and still have it. I grew up and moved out. Let me start out saying we have extremely hard water. Without a softener the iron in the water would stain anything it touched. I waited to review our system until now. The system has been installed for 6 months & its worked perfect. We installed a iron removal machine & a twin softener system. Dave knows his water. My experience with Osby Water has been phenomenal. I met the owner, David, first as he surveyed my home and needs and he left leaving me with such a sense of 'I'll be well cared for' that I rarely find from a business. He, in particular, absolutely touched me in his caring and commitment to helping me get settled in my new home in Porter, Indiana. Then his team arrived shortly thereafter to replace my water softening system with their newest model, and installed a reverse osmosis water filtration system for my kitchen sink. They also, at my request, attached this filtration system to my new refrigerator, which required a bit of drilling from the basement to underneath my fridge, and they contacted me to explain exactly what needed to be done to seek my approval. After they successfully installed all that needed to be installed they patiently listened and answered my many questions about ...everything really... as I'm new to all of these accessories/systems and everyone was unbelievably kind. I couldn't have asked for better service and I can't even call it 'service'... I couldn't have asked for better 'care'... I'm extremely impressed with Osby and recommend them without any question. Horrible customer service. Deceiving company from the start. First, our water was not that hard after being checked by another company! Salesman played it off like we needed this OVERPRICED 3k unit - which you can purchase a great system anywhere else for HALF. When called on the fact that our water tested better than Lake Michigan water they claimed, "well you must of wanted the softener"..... NO! Why on earth would we purchase something that we did not need! Next, the unit malfunctioned at our neighbors and killed grass on his entire side yard and in our shared backyard due to saltwater pouring out his sump pit - which they say NEVER happens. Save your money and a lot of aggravation and choose a more reputable company. read more

Barb S I have nothing but praise for all the dealings that I have had with Osby for the past ten years. The most recent was when I called for help with the Kinetico water softener purchased nearly ten years ago. Someone was here the next morning. After a few minutes, he not only found the problem, but he suggested that the softener might still be under warranty for the parts. To my delight, his check proved this to be true. I found this to be typical of the integrity of this company, as he could have fixed the problem and charged me for the parts, as I did not know a warranty was still in effect. read more

Wish they had a Zero Star available because this company deserves zero or even negative! Let's start with Salesman- Late for appointment. Then no business card available for me but heir number would be on the contract- so they had already decided I was signing up. Salesman didn't put on boot protection- just walked right in on my floors with no respect. We started in basement- I have bad knees and Salesman went out to car for something then directly went into my living area without me despite me asking me him NOT to because of my German Sheperds. Then in order to get any information I had to sign a contract(I did NOT give him a check despite his wanting one). The contract was set up for Home Depot to give me credit- WHY Home Depot? And I had the cash to pay for the whole system that moment but no way was I writing him a check for anything. I did call Home Depot- and they wanted me to go into store or online to fill out credit appt- again I had the money to pay for the system. I called the office to speak to Salesman and was told he wasn't there- he left for the day- UNTIL I said I was cancelling contract then "Oh wait- he just came back in" (He told me he would be in the office all day) He then wanted me to give him my Social Security number so he could call Home Depot and get me the credit- again I had the cash for the system! So I cancelled contract and refused him any more attempts to sell me anything. 24 hours later I received another company's bid- paid them on the spot and my water system- a better quality- will be installed on Monday morning. And the Salesman- had applied at this company I went with and they rejected his application for employment- they laughed when they saw his name on the contract! I am NOT naming him because when I told the office about the bad reviews on Angie's list they kept saying "Well that Salesman is no long with us" on 4 different reviews. It is not the Salesman- it seems to be the company's attitude. There are MUCH better companies- Skip this one! read more

If there was 0 stars or negative they would get it. AVOID THIS COMPANY! They have awful sales reps, bad customer service, and poor repair techs. We were reccommended Osby when looking at new water softners inside Home Depot. Wanting to research and price our options we set up an appointment. During the appointment the sales rep seemed knowledgeable and we liked the fact that the Kinetico softner came with an extended warrenty (10 years). We were told that warranty covered the entire trip if anything was to be needed. That was a lie. The water softner worked well for 18 mos or so. All of a sudden it stopped regenerating. So we called to find out maintenance calls are only covered for 1 year, it would now cost $95 for a tech to come out. After trying everything in the book on our own the thing still didn't work so we bit the bullet and had a tech come out. At his arrival and first glance he told us that the part keeping it from working is under recall and we should have been called awhile back to replace but he has the part in his truck and can get it fixed now. Next, the tech asked me for old towels, ok it's a water softner some water spillage is expected but he should supply this stuff not us. At the conclusion of his 1.5 hour visit I go down to check out our newly repaired softner to find the towels sopping wet and gross to the point where they will not be going in my washing machine but to the garbage instead. Worst of all there was standing water all throughout the area of water softener's location. Which happens to be directly behind to our brand new furnace! Now we have to schedule the furnace company to come out and make sure there is no damage. This company is awful not worth the 2400 we paid. Avoid at all costs. If I figure out how to add pictures to this review I will do so as they clearly illustrate the poor quality of service you get when using Osby. read more
