We ordered take out from Osaka. The Four Seasons roll was my favorite & the Meaux roll was pretty good though I picked out the asparagus because it was tough. The King Salmon roll was good with a little low sodium tamari. I would order these again. My dad enjoyed the beef & shrimp combo fried rice though it was very salty. Next time we will ask for no msg or to go easy on the salt. He also liked the shrimp tempura. They didn't include any chopsticks in the to-go order, so you may have to ask for that. There is plenty of parking in the shopping center & it's a good location in the middle of town. read more

Simple and consistent. Osaka is super accessible and always provides a good variety of sushi. Each meal begins with steaming miso soup. I am a big advocate of their Rainbow Roll and yellowtail nigiri. They also have a solid selection of bottles Japanese beers. I have never seen this place slammed with patrons to the point of having to wait to be seated, but there are always people there and a constant flow of pick-up orders. Will continue to be a patron of this spot. read more

Everything is phenomenal!!!! Service, food, drinks, all of it! Highly recommend to anyone looking for an amazing date night.

Been here twice already and I am just going to say this is not my favorite sushi place. The sushi is ok at best. I do think the service is really good though. Very attentive waiters/waitresses. I personally think anything else on the menu is better than the sushi like the baked mussels or the chicken teriyaki. read more

Try the Obje roll!! Osaka is a sushi lover's paradise! Their fresh, high-quality fish is expertly prepared, and the creative rolls are a feast for the eyes and the palate. The friendly staff and modern ambiance make it the perfect spot for a delicious and stylish meal. read more

I am still living the remodel here. It's so open, clean and fresh. The food is excellent! My favorite is the sushi, I try new rolls every visit. Hands down the best spicy tuna roll in all of LAFAYETTE! I know because that's the main roll I get every time I try a new sushi restaurant. Tonight I had to keep it simple and got the chicken hibachi and enjoyed every bite. Their cucumber kimchi is excellent as well. I really liked that tonight. We normally get the steamed or fried dumplings for appetizer but tonight we got the fried calamari. It was tender and fresh. Service here tonight was great and super friendly. Our waitress made some grade recommendations and we had a nice dinner. read more

Very relaxed, quiet environment. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered 5 different rolls, and two dishes from the kitchen. Everything was super fresh and tasty. Everyone left happy and full. We will be back. read more

Hidden Gem great atmosphere and customer service, and the food was great. Appetizer calamari was very flavorful and thick chunks, which took me back to when we lived in Alaska. The Galbi was outstanding, along with the squid. Will definitely return to try more of the menu. And let me not forget the miso dressing let me tell you we ordered some to take home it was so good. No frills here, just food well done read more

Best egg rolls in Lafayette. Sushi and other dishes are good. Miso salad dressing. Service is good.

Nice looking place in great location, but very pricey for average sushi. I forgot to take photos, but this place does offer a variety of different Asian cuisine like Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean dishes as well. We all ordered 6 sushi rolls as well as plenty of appetizers. Everything was average. When the bill came out, there was further disappointment. I understand that inflation is going crazy right now, but to itemize every little thing? Being charged for all the little sauce dishes was a major turn off. Multiple itemized $0.75 cents adds up. Eel sauce, spicy Mayo, sauce that was used for the salad were a few of the extra charges. We were a party of 10 so the various little charges for sauce Probably never coming back here again. I would prefer grocery store sushi. read more

One of my favorite local sushi places around Lafayette. Every time I've been here the service is fast & each server is so friendly. Tonight I went and got 2 rolls.. delicious and made with the freshest ingredients. The noodles are so flavorful. I also ordered a lemon drop martini and it was absolutely amazing. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for fresh delicious sushi. read more

Gotta say what a disappointment. I have a wheat allergy and at first was impressed that they were able to accommodate me. The waitress asked if I'd like GF soy sauce but it would cost me a dollar for the sauce. No problem I said. They made me a steak that was actually delightful. I ended up ordering a fried rice later in the meal. Asked how much it would be and she said $14. When I got my bill they charged me $3 for gf soy sauce. I asked why and she said they had to use a double portion of gf soy sauce to make the fried rice. My bill ended up being $65 with no alcohol. it was good but my stomach is grumbling a bit so something was off. Anyway they just lost a customer for life by slipping in extra charges without telling. By the way the fried rice was $14.50 plus the $2 extra for GF. I knew this meal would be expensive but to nickel and dime me over a $60 meal is outrageous. Save your money and go somewhere else I know I will. Also I know the price of GF soy sauce, I just think these restaurants get a boner when they think they can get over on someone with allergies. read more

Food is not very traditional at all but I enjoy it a lot. I can't say I've ever had great service here though

Decided to go eat at Osaka because the girlfriend was craving Korean. Korean you ask? Yes, they serve Korean here, in fact the owner is Korean. You just have to ask for the secret Korean Menu!! We felt so bad for the waitress, it looked like she was the only one working on the floor.. but she was really nice and did as much as she can to help serve you - Fried calamari - this was your generic fried calamari, which was pretty decent - Firecracker roll - this was mediocre, I overheard a table saying how great this was.. really it was not that great - Crunchy roll - your generic crunchy roll pretty much - Beef Bibimbob - beef bulgogi on a bed of stir fried veggies served over a bowl of steam rice, topped with a fried egg. Served with a side of sweet and spicy sauce - this came from the Korean menu, and it was delicious! - Garbi - grilled beef short ribs marinated in a blend of Korean spices, served with a small house salad and steam rice - this also came from the Korean menu, the short ribs were perfectly marinated and so delicious! We normally don't come here for sushi, but decided to give some rolls a shot, and it was mediocre, however, this is probably the only place you can get your Korean fix in Lafayette, and its not too shabby! read more

I'm rating this for their Korean menu. Their sushi is ..meh.. The only plus side is they are generous in size but after eating my Togo sushi I was kind of just eating it bc i love to eat. The rice was good but the rolls are over powered by sauces and toppings. I do think their Korean menu is very good. Beef bibimbap, order it. Just order it, mix it and enjoy. It's so good. The bulgogi wasn't the best I've ever had but it was good. Seriously, do try their Korean menu. You have to ask for it :) I come by for the Korean items and bc twins sweets and bakery is right next door read more

Osaka Sushi Grill - Vegetable, rainbow, crunchy, spicey tuna, baked salmon and shrimp tempura rolls - Japanese Near Me - Lafayette, Louisiana

I am writing this review on behalf of my parents that have supported this business for years, but they will no longer be patrons at this establishment for several reasons. First and foremost, the establishment does NOT require masks upon entering. A Louisiana representative-elect died just yesterday from complications of the virus. This virus is serious, and my family will no longer spend their money at a place that doesn't take it seriously. Second, they ordered approximately $40 worth of sushi and the entire order was wrong. The restaurant did nothing to remedy the issue. They are very disappointed. They enjoy supporting small businesses, especially at this time. They will find another sushi restaurant that actually cares about its customers. read more

The food was really good but the service was atrocious. It took almost 2 hours for our lunch. The place was pretty much empty too! It took a while for our server to come greet us and get our drink orders. It took even longer for her to come back with our drinks. The longest wait was for our food! It was unreal how long it took for our food to come out. Osaka's saving grace is their food though. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. They just need to get a new waitstaff or at the very least hire some busboys to fill drinks. read more

This is one of my favorite places in town to get sushi. My coworkers and I come here often for our lunch break. My biggest complaint about them is their inconsistency. Their sushi and other meals are very good, but they are inconsistent and have days that are less than impressive. I went today 4/25/2014 and the food was delicious but it took over an hour to get to us. read more

Had lunch on a Saturday. No crowd. Soup was like all others. Nothing special just good. Lunch menu is the same as dinner cost. For a nice quick lunch, $50.00. A bit much for lunch. The food was average. Nothing to brag on. The real kicker was the drinks. $2.50 per and the ice stunk. Smelled like some type cleaning fluid. The host was great but the waitress has a lot of room for personality improvement. She did suggest a way to improve the dip which was appreciated. Too many other great places to eat in the area to return here anytime soon. read more

I really do love coming here BUT this time I ordered for my food to go. They told me it would be ready in 25 minutes so I got here in thirty and it was still not ready (which is fine) well then waiting for an extra HOUR is not fine. I've been eating at Osaka since it opened, and the restaurant has had it's ups and downs in quality levels. This is to be expected, as with staff changes the food quality can also change. I have recently become something of a regular as it is a popular spot for our office lunches. I'd approximate that we eat there once or twice monthly. On my last visit they really impressed me. When our sushi arrived it looked much different than usual. Short thick chunks of fish were placed on top of our rolls, rather than the usual long thin pieces. I brought this up to our waitress, who happily offered to take the sushi back. The sushi returned was quite skillfully sliced, and perhaps the thinnest sushi that I've ever seen. It was awesome. Thank you for the consideration, Osaka. Your courtesy has ensured that I will continue to be a repeat customer. read more

The best sushi I've tried in Lafayette. Just say NO to Tsunami unless you simply want to be seen; Absolutely say NO to Sakura if you actually like sushi; Tokyo Live - are they still open - the most awful sushi ever in my entire life. We ordered two rolls and two soups over waitr from They forgot literally half the order and only sent one roll and one soup. Basically "sorry but not really." Never again. read more

I ordered the Arizona Special Combo. It came with 4 pieces Nigiri: tuna, salmon, red snapper, albacore and 4 pieces each of spicy tuna roll and california roll. The Nigiri was oooh, sooo delicious! Fish was excellent quality. The rice was perfectly flavored, but a little dry. I did go toward the end of the night though, around 8p. I will definitely be back because I love their menu selections and the quality of fish. I came back a second time (this time right at 5pm when they opened, so rice was fresh and perfect) and ordered the Chef's Choice House Special Combo. I received the following Nigiri: 2 pieces tuna, 2 pieces red snapper, 1 piece escolar, 1 piece yellow tail, 1 piece albacore, 1 piece octopus, 1 piece eel, 1 piece salmon, and 1 mixed roe. I loved everything! read more

I am not in the habit of giving a lot of 5 star reviews, but when you have the amazing bento box at Osaka, and it is filled with delicious sushi, sliced beef with mushroom sauce, 3-4 pieces of fried zucchini and onions, a good salad, luscious fried rice, and some steamed veggies, I don't know how I can rate it less than 5.. Plus, this plate of food is HUGE!.. and for $9.95 it will satisfy the biggest chowhounds out there, including me. I can't wait to go back to Osaka so I can make a complete pig out of myself again.. Looks like a very inviting " sushi and grill " restaurant but this restaurant is not what it seems to be. The food is very very overpriced. I got the " Bimbombap " and well the beef was just okay and the rice was stale for the price of 16.99. I'm not sure if it was the time that I came in ( 6:30 ) but it was very dead and nearly had 10 people in there. Overall it was just well ok. read more

I was hesitant to visit Osaka. It's location has a poor reputation, and it's facade seems a bit lacking. I was surprised to find that Osaka is quite a nice place to be. This dimly lit Japanese restaurant is quite the escape. It offers a place to settle down, a place that seems to hide from the busy city surrounding it's walls. The service was professional and accommodating. The food was excellent, their sushi was fresh and well dressed. I haven't a complaint about this restaurant, and I surely will return for another of their "Veggie Delight" maki rolls. read more

Man, it's as simple as this: the gang at Osaka just gets it right. From price to service to location to selections to quirky atmosphere, it is hands-down my favorite sushi restaurant in Lafayette. Others come close, but this place is the perfect storm of what I like when I go out to eat. First of all, I don't eat rice & the sushi chefs are always fine making any roll for me without it, which is this is NOT the case at most sushi restaurants. They are seriously the friendliest sushi chefs I have ever had the pleasure of chatting with at any sushi bar. The prices are great for the quality & portions I get, the service is always quick, the food never takes long to arrive (even when the place is packed) & the menu selection is more than adequate. Also, I love-love-love that this place used to be a Pancho's & that they never bothered updating the Mexican architecture. And the art hanging near the sushi bar is hilarious! Miso Soup comes complimentary at every meal here & the Gyoza, Edamame & Spring Rolls are great. Try the trusted Spider, Cali, Philly, Spicy Crab, ZZyzx, Dr. Keaty, M-80, 911 or Yaki Yaki rolls for a tasty meal. I have enjoyed Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail & Red Snapper Sashimi on more than one occasion. The Jasmine tea is always a nice addition to any dining experience & the the Red Bean Ice Cream is quite a dandy way to round everything out, trust me. I have consistently had great experiences & trust these guys with my lunch/dinner decisions quite often. Sakura's Seaweed Salad may be better, but in the end, it's just worth my overall time to frequent Osaka, where I am never, ever disappointed. read more
