Went with Party of 12 we sat at Hibachi though only about half of us ordered the hibachi dinners. It was entertaining and tasted good, portions were decent, about what I have had at similar places. The others ate Maki rolls and a few of the kitchen prepared items, (teriyaki, soba noodles). The sushi rolls all tasted fresh and had large pieces of fish or what was supposed to be inside. One roll was not the item ordered and it was quickly replaced and the wrong item was still left for us to enjoy @ no charge. Price is not cheap but not expensive either. This sushi joint is ok. Nothing special, but given the fact that scranton doesn't have a ton of options like other big cities you can't go wrong here. The food is cooked in fron of you and is quite tasty. All in all, if you are in scranton and want Sushi, this is your best bet. But it is't a place to go out of your way for. read more

I'm not one to ever rate a restaurant but WOW! The sushi was amazing! I'm on a trip to visit family in the area. We had miso soup, salmon sashimi, and spicy tuna rolls with avocado and tempura flakes. This has always been my go to roll. Perfection! It makes me want to move to the area! YUM! read more

Let me just say that the 4 stars is because of street parking. Otherwise, this place is a 5 star restaurant without a doubt. The service is fast and courteous. The waitresses are accomodating and friendly. Check out the lunch specials that go on Monday to Friday. You will not regret it! The sushi, obviously, is the main attraction for me. Came in after the "dinner rush hour" on a Saturday after getting into town to celebrate a bachelor party. We ended up being the last table of the night. Host was very friendly and quick to get our orders and drinks. Serving size compared to some of the other hibachi restaurants I've been to was a little bit smaller than expected. The chef that came out was very friendly; but you could tell it was a long day as he didn't do much outside of the normal. Can't blame him as I imagine it was a busy night. I usually gauge a sushi restaurant by its Ikura (Salmon Roe), Seaweed Salad and house sake. Osaka only had one kind of sake. It tasted like rubbing alcohol. The seaweed salad was a bit soggy and the Ikura sushi was "not fresh". That is not to say it was "bad" but it made you wonder if the only safe sushi to order was the popular but all too banal California Roll. Osaka does not seem like a place to expand your repertoire on sushi. Too bad, Osaka has a great location and the restaurant's interior is superior to that of Blue Wasabi. So I paid my $40.00 and walked over to Northern Lights and picked up 3 salads to put in the hotel room refrigerator. At least I know they are organic and fresh. Rating 2.5 read more

Osaka is one of the most popular restaurants in Downtown Scranton, especially for students from The U on the weekends. Their staff is friendly and service is quick. You definitely don't wait long to get your food. The cooks at the hibachi stations are always trying to make you smile. Their sushi is fairly good too. Decided to visit due to Yelp advertising that this was an all you can eat. It did NOT appear to be the case. We ordered a sushi boat. The salad was mostly iceberg lettuce with alot of mayo dressing. The miso soup was bland. The sushi was good. The portions of sashimi were good. The salmon and escolar very buttery. The tuna nice and fresh. The red snapper had an odd after taste. Osaka is an okay choice for sushi in the Scranton Area. The sushi is good but not great. They have an array of specialty and traditional rolls - I almost always get the spicy tuna and spicy scallop. I have not eaten the hibachi. There is better sushi in Scranton and am unlikely to return to Osaka. read more

Great sushi and hibachi! I was surprised to find that both of these were awesome and in Scranton, PA! I frequently get sushi takeout and I highly recommend the fresh crab California roll. The hibachi dinners and sushi are both consistently delicious. The ginger dressing on the side salad is perfect. Prices are reasonable and typical based on what I have experienced at various other restaurants. Service is a little rude and rushed at the hibachi tables sometimes, but they are very friendly and helpful when I pick up my takeout. Delicious. Go there! Craving it now :( read more

This place apparently operates in a different time zone. We had a reservation for 7 p.m. and never even saw a waiter until 7:55. Service was horrible. Been here many times and have seen It going downhill. Probably the next place in Scranton to shutter its doors. I know we won't be going. back--ever! read more

I was pleasantly surprised tonight by Osaka. I normally doubt sushi in cities that are not close to the ocean/water. Osaka is definitely an exception. It was a great meal and great service. I highly recommend Osaka especially to the business traveler. read more

The newly renovated Osaka looks much better now than it used to,but as far as the service goes,it takes to long to get your food especially on crowded days like friday and saturday nights. Hi have eaten at Osaka many many times before I always go to the habaci as I don't like sushi. The chef that does the habaci is always very entertaining the food is fresh and made right in front of you you can order on the hub bocce beef chicken or shrimp the portion sizes are very very big I always take out my food leftover food to go. As with all of hibachis you do end up sitting around strangers which is a little awkward but after a while you get used to it and you end up having nice conversations and talking to people that you don't know it's a friendly atmosphere. read more

Horrible customer service. Went on October 4, 2016. I went and ordered two steak teriyaki. Upon returning home I found out that the steak was blue (not cooked) when I ordered it medium well. I drove back and asked them to cook it more and right away the manger acted like I was in the wrong but said ok and cooked it more. He said the reason it was not cooked properly was because I had asked for the sauce on the side. 10 minutes later he comes back and it looks like it was overcooked so I tried it and tore it and showed it to him. He again states because its because the sauce was on the side. I asked him, "What does the sauce being on the side have to do with the temperature of the steak? He then decided to grab my food from my dish, that I had already paid for and tried to show me that it looked medium rare. I then asked him for a new order since he had touched my food. He replied no. I asked for a refund and he said that he wouldn't give me one. I don't know any restaurant that will not give a refund. Btw the steak teriyaki was like 20 for one so that would be 40 dollars. He then went on to state that I was a horrible person. I had ordered three times before from this restaurant and the steak was cooked alright. My goal was to get a steak teriyaki that was edible. The worse customer service I have ever experienced. Went there for lunch with two friends...place was nearly empty. The young waiter brought out my two friends food first, I sat and watched them eat for a good 20 minutes and when they were finished eating, I asked the waiter to speak to the manager and he got a major attitude. The manager was also extremely rude and full of excuses. Needless to say, I did not get to sit and eat my food, it had to be taken to go due to the length of time it took for my hibachi lunch to be brought from the kitchen and they forced me to pay full price. The manager didn't even offer an apology. If you read down the rest of the reviews, this is a chronic problem that the owner has yet to address with the young male waiter and her manager. Clearly they both need a class in customer service and conflict resolution or they will continue to lose business. This is being shared on my FB account as well, if the owner is reading this...take this seriously. read more
