Fresh sushi, always yummy. The yaki udon is one of my favorites, love the thick noodles and the sweet and salty sauce , so good. Definitely order the beef negimaki, the sauce is addictive! We came here on a Sunday. Totally empty. A little three year old boy greeted us. The food didn't take long, it was hot and the service was great. The menu is a bit vague on description, for example the appetizer pictured didn't say it was breaded or topped with mayo (two things I cannot eat). There was also twee instrumental music playing the whole time which got old pretty fast, but I was hungry and irritable. I don't know if I'd come back, but I also don't know if I'd find myself in Hazelton ever again. read more

First time going to this restaurant and was very pleased with my family's meals. My dad got the Mongolian beef and it was excellent. Large portion size. He would get it again but next time without the hot peppers. My mom and I got sushi which was pictured below. Between us we had 5 rolls. The presentation was great on the plates. The quality of the fish was fresh. We are around 5pm and the servers were polite and attentive. The restaurant was reasonably priced as well. I would definitely return to have dinner here in the future. 12/31/18: returned for a nye dinner with my family and once again this place did not disappoint. The server was amazing.. she was so friendly and attentive. The food came out quick as well. I ordered all you can eat sushi with my brother. All of the sushi was great.. good quality for Hazleton/northeastern pa. Some of my family had teriyaki steak and a seafood teriyaki skillet. Those came out literally sizzling and incredibly hot. When we went for dinner, it was completely dead. a child came up to us and asked if we were eating in and went to get someone to serve us. when we sat down, our order was taken by who i'm guessing is the owner with someone on facetime at full volume. we then got our food after waiting about 30 minutes and the shrimp was not properly deveined and we did not get the side salad and clear soup that comes with the meal. we then waited another 20 minutes after we very obviously finished our meal for the check even after asking. while all of this is happening, the staff were eating at the hibachi tables watching something on their phones at full volume. this was once a great establishment that has gone down the drain. i will never eat at this location ever again. read more

Never Again! I used to like this restaurant a lot! We went there for lunch hibachi we were there at 2:30pm and they charge us dinner price!!! I complained but the server were very rude that I did not tell them that I want a lunch menu... I told them that if I want to eat dinner I would not go there for lunch time... This is my first time coming here. I am from out of town and when we go out to eat, the normal practice is to serve the group at the same time. Make a long story short, they failed to take my order correctly, didn't bring my food till after the others where done eating. So I took it home in a container and left no tip. I do have to say, they where good people, they just had a new person taking their order or something, but I wouldn't go back because I was hungry and had to watch everyone else eat in front of me while my food got left behind and never got my appetizer. The experience was overall OK in terms of food quality, customer service, cleaniness, and atmosphere. We were seated in the booth areas near the hibachi grills. For dessert, we had green tea mochi. Food quality: 3/5 Miso Soup: We were huge fans of the miso soup! It was fairly priced ($1.75) and was very flavorful. Definitely gave our appetites a boost Spicy Squid: yummy. Good balance of flavor and spice. Sushi: The sushi was average Korean Chicken Dish: This entree came with rice and a small dish of Kimchi. The chicken was okay. Nothing memorable to it. Kinda reminded me of sweet and sour chicken you can get at a chinese restaurant. The kimchi was homemade and you could taste a hint of alcohol in it. Green Tea Mochi: OK and fairly priced Atmosphere: 3.5/5 We came on mother's day so the environment was lively with the hibachi chefs. Chefs were enthusiastic and customers seemed to be having fun. The restaurant was decorated nice and things seemed to be pretty organized. The music playing in the background sounded like the ones that would be played on chinese new year lol (too asian for me). Cleaniness: 4/5 The restaurant looked clean and organized. Restrooms were frequently maintained and didn't have a stench to it. Customer Service: 3/5 The hostess that sat us didn't really give us any type of greeting nor did she seem like she wanted to be at work. Came here specifically because they advertised all you can eat sushi Monday thru Friday, and posted it just 2 days ago on their Facebook. Show up just to be told they don't do that. Even checked their website to confirm and it's there. Service is subpar, tables are filthy, floor is sticky. Salmon was strange looking and some of the fish tasted off. Finally gave this place another shot after seeing cockroaches on the hibachi table and absolutely regret it. Oh, and not to mention their parking lot is nothing but potholes big enough to pop your tires. There's an obvious reason they have reviews turned off on Facebook. Maybe I have high expectations since I'm used to NY sushi but I would say between service and food I have a hard time giving more than 2 stars. The atmosphere is very strange (napolean dynamite style) with horrible music. The waitress took one drink order and then walked away before taking mine. When a different waitress came to take my drink order, I asked for a martini and a water. 20 mins later our drinks arrived minus the water I asked for previously. When our "dynamite" appetizer came out I was grilled by a man asking "you don't like roe?" He said he put on a certain sauce since we didn't ask for roe which tasted like mayo was thrown on. The special rolls were fresh but nothing special. The wait staff wasn't friendly and they did not come around to check on us until it was time to get the bill. Would I return? Every time we come into town I make my family come here for hands down the best time! To start, you must try a love boat frozen drink! I don't care if it's freezing cold outside, you have to try one! So yummy! The staff is always so welcoming and nice. The drinks come in a timely manner and are always well prepared. Drinks, food and such a great atmosphere you can never go wrong. The sushi is always fresh, the appetizers always come in a timely manner and are always served nice and hot. The salad the comes fresh, crisp and the dressing is SO GOOD! The miso soup is also tasty, but does have chicken broth, so not vegan friendly. What is vegan friendly? The Edamame as an app, so steamy and salty and delicious! Also, the spring rolls are oh so yummy! For dinner, I had the vegetables with noodles, not from the hibachi grill to avoid cross contamination from the butter, eggs and meat in the grill. It was pretty good, I'm not exactly sure how I felt about the noodles. They were much larger than the normal udon noodles, but still good. The veggies were sautéed perfectly and the flavor was great. The worst dining I have ever experienced. Got to the restaurant around 7:10pm to a seemingly full parking lot. Walked in to find a single couple sitting in a booth on a normal Tuesday night. That should have been the only red flag necessary to leave. We sat down because we are craving hibachi food, but I would learn to regret this soon. The service was terrible. Whoever took our order was on the phone talking on speaker at full blast while the staff was eating at nearby tables watching videos on their phones at a obnoxiously loud volume. He could not seem to understand anything we said, so we had no idea what we would receive. We got our food after waiting about half an hour, which was not worth it. The clear soup and salad that comes with every meal never came. The sushi chef seemed to make our rolls while eating his dinner, the shrimp for the hibachi entree was not deveined properly, and the food did not taste consumable. We then waited another 20 minutes after finishing our meal for our check. The man who took our order (we assume he is the owner) took his time talking on the phone and eating his dinner at the bar adjacent to us before giving us a 55 dollar check for the inedible food. A once great establishment will soon be another vacant lot in Hazleton. What a shame. read more

Pretty good sushi in a place where oyu would not expect it. Decor is dated and the place is cavernous but it makes up for it in the food. Ordered the tuna tataki which was seared, topped with jalepeno and tobiko and served over cucumber with a ponzu-based dressed. The onyl drawback was there was too much dressing and it was a bit on the sweet side. Ordered a spicy naruto roll which was sans rice and very large. It was a nice twist on spicy tuna and not as filling without the rice. Also had a spicy dragon roll which was also large and quite good. I always get the hibachi style meals. Not only is it entertaining, but the food is delicious! The shrimp tempura is excellent. I love their salad/dressing too, not to mention the soup. My favorite entree is shrimp and scallops combo with noodles/rice. I always bring home leftovers. Plus they can accommodate any special orders too should you not like some of the veggies. Never ever again will i do business with this place. Very unprofessional. They have a child taking food orders at the register over the phone. I went to pick my order up and they wouldn't give it to me cause THEY got my number wrong. I waited 30 mins while they took other people behind me then was told I'd have to wait longer cause that wasnt my order when it clearly was after sitting there 30 mins and no one claiming it. We took our family here for a holiday dinner and it was fabulous! The food was wonderful, and service was absolutely outstanding. Portions were huge (too big probably). The hibachi chef was entertaining and fun. The food itself was well cooked and the sushimi excellent. I shared the sushimi for 2 platter with my son and we had tons of food. Wow. The wait staff was constantly attentive to drinks and empty plates. The only place I can see improvement is the decor. it's in a strip mall and the lighting/decor is kind of bright and stark. I prefer a darker, more private setting. This place feels almost cafeteria like in its brightness. But that is a minor complaint. Finally, when we went to pay the gentleman pointed out that 15% had already been added to the bill, to make sure we did not double tip or overpay. Not all places do that and I know that sometimes I have overpaid and not realized it until later. His honesty was much appreciated. While the servers were quite nice, the food and ambiance has a bit to be desired, as The decor is a bit outdated. I usually do not count the decor against the total rating if the food is worthy, however, I did not find that to be the case here. We did arrive here 30 minutes before closing, however, I do not think that should affect the quality of the food. We ordered a sashimi deluxe plate which came with 18 pieces of sashimi, a yellow tail scallion roll, and some behemoth monster roll from the special list. First, the miso soup was awful. No flavor and not even worth finishing. The salad that came as part of the meal, was pathetic. A few pieces of lettuce with a big dollop of ginger dressing. The yellow tail scallion roll was quite good with big piece of fresh tuna in a decent sized roll. The special roll (name eludes me) came on a plate half the size of the table. It was more scene than cuisine. It even had taro chips as decor. The roll itself was gigantic but quite tasty. The sashimi for the most part was tolerable, however, one of the pieces of snapper was very tough to chew and I had to discard it. the prices are a bit steep for the type of place and while others may enjoy this place, I do not think that I Will be returning anytime soon. read more

Not food poisoning, and that's surprising considering the area. M and I were driving from the Poconos to VA and stopped for gas in Hazleton. It looked like a good place to stop for dinner, and Yelp led us to Mirakuya. The neighborhood is super sketchy. Like, it seemed unsafe to leave a car in the parking lot. But we were hungry and the restaurant seemed new and clean, so we gave it a try. We were seated at a 12 person table along with 12 other people. First off-- hibachi tables are generally 8 people, so this is already huge. And then to squeeze in two more chairs... it was ridiculous. The soup tasted like ramen from a packet, salad was ok. We split the veggie hibachi which is usually an array of veggies sauteed in delicious soy sauce, but in this case was onion and cabbage drenched in sweet, sticky teriyaki sauce. Gross (and very very far from healthy, not that that's why I eat hibachi). The fried rice was piled high and deliciously buttery. We also got a sushi roll, which may have been the highlight of the meal. On a side note, Mirakuya featured a hibachi trick I've never seen before. You can pretty much expect the onion volcano, the tossing of random food into guests mouths, and the launching of an egg into a chefs hat. Here, they randomly start chanting throughout the meal and squirt sake into all the guests mouths. Over and over. Probably 7 or 8 times over the course of the meal. With children? No problem! They have a second squirt bottle full of soda. Get those kids training early! It was weird, unsanitary, and headache-inducing (perhaps that was just because I didn't partake) At the end of the day, I don't think we'll be coming out here again, but as far as hibachi and sushi, it's not the worst option. read more

And the food always made my tummy rumble after. However, I (Marg) was in the mood for some sushi with my pals. They have the lynch time specials there and i said yum yum yum! But.... no. The waitress was rude FIRST of all. We hadn't even finished talking to her and she WALKED. RIGHT. AWAY. Fran looked at me and said "WHO does she think she is? Disgusting." She also gave Fran a very hard time about her classic Shrimp tempura box. Don't know why but she fought HARD against us. I visited mirakuya on a Friday night, which may have been my first mistake because it seemed that everyone in the area had the same idea. I had every intention of dining at the hibachi grill for the entertainment while dining, but due to an hour wait for a seat at the grill, I opted for a booth with my party. The service was sub-par for the menu prices, meaning typically one expects better service to accompany a pricier menu. We were able to order our drinks after browsing the menu for ten minutes, and at no point in time did anyone ever offer any refills. The food ordered, which included sushi and various hibachi plates, did not exceed any expectations. NOTE: Mirakuya includes a 15% gratuity on parties of 4 or more, which is new to me. Typically gratuity is included on parties of 6+ or more. My rating is actually 2.5 stars for my personal experience, and then a bonus 0.5 star for the atmosphere. Some co-workers and I walked in on a Friday night for dinner before a project cut. While the location is quite interesting, nestled amongst a Family Dollar and an Autozone, in a parking lot with a food bus and heavy equipment, we weren't put off -- and dinner was actually quite delicious. I had: -Edamame -Futomaki - Egg (sashimi) - Tuna (s) - Yellowtail (s) - Bowl sushi rice The edamame was weak... it had been overcooked. Edamame should have a little bite to it... these beans were mushy. I was starving, though, and plowed through the large and well seasoned bowl pretty quickly. On to the sushi! The futomaki was great -- although it lacked a few traditional ingredients, they nailed the overall flavor profile. There was an addition of wakame, which I love in rolls, which made it an extra treat. The egg was a little dry. Other than that, the sashimi I had was ample, fresh, and delicious. The sushi rice was well seasoned and properly cooked. I'm going to have to come back and try the hibachi -- people all around us were getting tossed from the chef squirting sake into their mouths and everyone was chanting "more saki, more sexy..." I'll try it Sunday night! TLDR: Doesn't smell like an autozone and makes surprisingly delicious sushi. read more
