Wow - wasn't sure what to expect with the ratings being somewhat all over the place. The staff were very friendly and the place itself very nice. One side has the hibachi tables, the other regular ones. We were at the regular ones although 2 in our group ordered hibachi entrees, which means food without the show! The 3 Sushi entrees we shared were beautifully presented, super fresh and delicious. A definite place to check out ! read more

Used to be a nice place but has since gone downhill. After taking three bites of sushi I noticed the tips of my chop sticks were molding. Then they started turning lights off on me because for some reason they close at 3. No hours posted on door so I walked in at 2:50 and ordered unknowing that it was 10 min from close. Once they started turning lights off I asked the waitress for a box and a check. I showed her the moldy chop sticks and she just flipped them around and used them to put my sushi in the box. Needless to say the sushi probably wasn't the most fresh. I even came home and cooked it up because I was skeptical. Today I am having terrible gastrointestinal issues. I am almost positive I picked up a bug or two from this dirty place. Sad to see an old favorite place falling apart. Will never go back and I don't expect to see this place around much longer. read more

Cute little place! Staff is very friendly. Food is fresh and well presented. Definitely recommend this place for sushi read more

Kabuki - The love boat (with some salmon missing because I ate it before taking the pic lol) - Japanese Near Me - Peckville, Pennsylvania

First time here, decent atmosphere, has hibachi also. The food is good and reasonably priced. I will be back. I only gave 4 stars because the glass served for my beer was dirty, I could see it as soon as it was put down. When I picked it up to get a clean one, it was sticky. Yuck We got a variety of sushi and some gyoza, all of which was great. The servers were very attentive and friendly. read more

Food was not great and could be seasoned better. The restaurant needs a facelift inside and generally didn't feel very clean. Gross and sticky menus and table is a no for me along with months flying around while eating. I won't be back. The service was fast but completely inattentive as they barely looked at you or stood at the table for more than 5 seconds. read more

Terribly innaccurate wait times. We've ordered carry out three times now and have showed up only to wait an average of 35 minutes outside in the parking lot with others experiencing the same. Do not state an expected turn around time if you are unable to deliver. I can see being off maybe 10 minutes but this is ridiculous. read more

My family and I have been coming here for years, but for reasons beyond our control it had been awhile. In the area so we decided to stop in. This place is still the OG and has never disappointed. It was comforting to see the same smiling faces that have been there since we first went there circa 2014. The hibachi is scrumptious, sushi is fresh, everything is on point! The booths are comfortable and tables are large. Service is extraordinary and they don't charge for add-ons, such as extra ginger and wasabi, extra spicy mayo, etc. The green candies at the reception desk are a personal favorite. We've decided that it's best to just skip the Dickson City hibachi and come here instead. Bravo!! read more

Quality has gone down hill. Soups taste diluted. Broth is bland. Sushi does not taste fresh. Atmosphere is dark. Salad is drenched in dressing. read more

One of the best sushi in the area. I don't try other food than sushi at Japanese restaurant around here. Sushi is fresh. I am not big fan of atmosphere and the tables, dishes are not very clean. Recommend: Overall sushi Rainbow caviar roll Qual egg!!! read more

The food is below average, at best. I got the chicken hibachi and it was so rubbery that you could bounce it like a ball. The service was the worst I have ever had in my entire life. The lady huffed and puffed every time we asked for something as small as another sauce. To the waitress that took care of us on February 11th between the hours of 1145 am and 1 pm. Get a new job, or you're going to need a new one from running customers out the door. We will NEVER go back. And Japanese is our favorite meal. read more

This restaurant never disappoints. The food is always good, seafood and steaks are always on point. Prices are good too.

it is the best restaurant ever .my family took me there wen I was a baby . The food is fantastic.

I'm not one to normally write negative reviews, so I will start with some positives. The hibachi food here is absolutely delicious and the location is clean. Sadly, that's about all I can say for my positives. We had a reservation for 5:30pm for my birthday. We arrived at exactly 5:30pm and Chef Kowasaki told us we were late (because they're were others already sat at out hibachi table) and that maybe we should just go to McDonalds instead. Our soup was cold and our salad was warm but the server said "oh sorry" and didn't make any effort to correct the problem. My mom tried to tell Chef Kowasaki it was my birthday and he told her that she was already late and now causing "problems." Not sure how wanting to celebrate a birthday is a problem but ok. After that, he would not even look at our section of the table and only would speak to the other ladies at our table about a comedy show he has at the anthracite hotel on October 14th. There was no other talk at all. The server did sing happy birthday at the end of our meal but at that point we were already upset. We spoke to the manager and they basically shrugged and said oh well. The service was absolutely awful. There are other hibachi restaurants in the area with equally tasty food and much better service. I would avoid this place if I were you. read more

I've eaten here a few times since it has opened. The decor is modern and clean... they have a sushi bar, a regular dining area, and hibachi I believe. There's no other Japanese places close by so this is certainly a welcome addition to the area. The have all of the standard Japanese dishes, sushi, and some pan-Asian selections as well. The portions are generous and the service is on point. Definitely recommended! TIP: The last time I was there, they still did not have a liquor license. There is a liquor store just across the parking lot that has a fridge... If you like wine with dinner, make sure you pick it up before you go. The staff is very accommodating and will uncork, serve, and keep the bottle cool for you. read more

This used to be my favorite place close by for sushi. It seems to have degraded since the previous owners left.

This is a very solid hibachi place. Not Many places like this around the Hamlin area. There is a full bar with all top shelf liquor. If you want to be spontaneous try their fish bowl. It has about 10 different varieties of liquor and it's a huge drink for 2 people. The food is pretty good as well. Going there for dinner tonight. read more

Came here with a friend for lunch after finding out that Blu Wasabi (in Scranton) is not open. Kabuki is located in a highly obscure row of businesses (including a Planet Fitness) and so it was a little hard to find at first. Once we were there, it was surprisingly busy for a Friday afternoon - lots of hibachi diners, for some reason. The decor is quite nice and it looks a lot bigger inside than from the outside. However, it is really, really dark in there. In fact, we had to pull their blinds open, just to read the menu. Kabuki has a semi-extensive lunch menu that includes items like 2 sushi rolls for $9.50 or a hibachi lunch meal that includes grilled meat/fish/seafood + grilled veggies + soup or salad for $9.50. The prices aren't incredibly bad, but I'd like to point out that these prices are even more expensive than some good Japanese restaurants in New Jersey. Anyway, I ordered a hibachi calamari meal, and two ala carte inari sushi (tofu skin). The sushi was so-so; for some reason, the rice did not taste very "fresh". The hibachi calamari though, was delicious, although the meal was cold by the time they served it. Our waitress was friendly, yet a bit disengaged - she only checked in on us when we flagged her down. My friend had the yellowtail sushi, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and the two roll sushi lunch special, which she thought was somewhat lackluster. Overall, it was an OK experience at Kabuki. I doubt that we will return there though. read more

Kabuki is the BEST. I love their hibachi food so much. It is so fresh and packed with flavor. I've been dining at Kabuki for years and it is always a great experience. Their takeout is equally as good as dining in. Their Covid safety measures are impressive and I will continue getting takeout from them. read more

I have eaten here twice. Just recently the other night and it was fine. I ordered the vegetable hibachi dinner. The noodles and rice were very well done. The vegetables also. The best part is that I got 3 meals out of it so it was a great deal. They always give you free fruit after your meal so you get your sweetness-fix. The patrons are a bit much as they were all very loud with their obnoxious stories! I learned so much about two older ladies than I needed to and then a woman in a couple that came in was going overboard with spilling her story! The waitress was kind and sweet. read more

Great food! It was ready very quickly. Sushi was amazing! Service was great but that could be because we were the only customers there. Will definitely go again, hopefully it's as good as the first! read more

I've eaten here a few times. Food is great but the atmosphere is loud and you kind of feel very rushed. There's no in between. Not a very relaxed atmosphere by any means. Kobe is more spread out and very quiet n relaxing. Kyoto the same too. It was just convenient from where we were the other night. read more

The food was amazing ... the atmosphere was very friendly our chef had the best personality will be going back soon

Best Japanese place in the area! This was the hot spot all throughout school and it never disappoints. The lunch special is such a good deal and comes with an abundance of food! The service is always quick and friendly. If you haven't been here yet I would check it out! read more

I'm a big hibachi person. I've been coming here for hibachi since I was a teenager. Unfortunately, it's just been getting less and less about the show and the fun interactions between the cook and the guests and more of just cook and get it over with. But aside from that, the hibachi has never been a disappointment. Everything cooked on the grill tastes incredible, by far my favorite hibachi place in the area. The interior is lovely and quiet. read more

The sushi was very good. The Udon was definitely not. The yaki udon was the most flavorless dish I've ever had. It had none of the veggies it listed in the description in the noodles. 2 super thin slices of pepper on the side of the dish doesn't warrant inclusion as a dish description, same for the non existent mushrooms onions, etc. The Nabekudon had a very strong chicken soup base flavor (which I didn't like, not fresh tasting at all) but not much else. Stick to the sushi if you go here. read more

I love this place for sushi but not any other dishes. Hibachi isn't my favorite (but theirs is good) however their Pad Thai was weird, too sweet, and artificial-tasting. Try the Dragon Eye or Valentine sushi rolls. The sushi is awesome every time I go and that's quite often. read more

This was a fun time. We really enjoyed this place. Oh sure it's the same show that they all put on banging the forks and spatula on the grill, squirting wine into your mouth. Throwing the food up in the air. It's just fun no matter how many times you've seen it. Our food was fresh, and delicious. It was family friendly, and not too expensive. We're coming back. read more

First they did not have our reservation when we got there on a busy Saturday night. Finally we got a hibachi table but the chef was rushed and did not interact with my family at all. No throwing food, saki, or conversation. You pay for the experience and it was completely not worth it. Hibachi food was good and sushi was great. Otherwise the customer service was terrible and we will think twice before going back. read more

Coming from Brooklyn, NY, I've been to several different hibachi joints. Kabuki is right on par for the most part. The restaurant itself was lacking in the decor department, but it wasn't horrible. The wait staff was adequate, not superb, just adequate. The chef didn't speak much English, but he was pretty good at his job. He was cooking, making balloon animals for the kiddies and squirting sake in the adults mouths!!!! Simultaneously! The food was ok and pretty much what we'd expect from a hibachi joint. A bit too salty, overly sauced and huge portions. One complaint of the food is that the seafood is usually overcooked....across the board, no exceptions. Over all, we were satisfied and had a good time. Considering the location, it definitely hit the spot. read more

Food was good, service wasn't that bad, forgot some of my order. Use to order from here all the time when they first opened & it was great, now it's just ok-good. Will come back but only if I'm in the neighborhood. read more

Consistency is very important in a good restaurant. My trip to the Kabuki last night was very disappointing and I blame it on the new sauces they are using. The food was sweeter than usual and the new sauce to dip you food in was more of a dressing than a sauce. and the Ginger dressing on the salad was good, but it seemed watered down and looked different. It reminded me of the food at the Kyoto in Clarks Summit, only not as good. Not that I've ever been a fan of the Kyoto. I guess I will have to hope the Osaka in Scranton hasn't made the same changes. Overall, I was very disappointed with everything from the noodles to the chicken. Even the vegetables they served were different. The shrimp was probably the best thing in the meal. If anyone from the Kabuki is reading this, change it back and let me know here when you do or at least why so many changes. read more

OUR FAVORITE JAPANEASE RESTAURANT We decided to have dinner Sunday night Hibachi style. The restaurant was not busy, we were seated immediately. The chef was friendly & very entertaining. Because both the service and the food were good, we had a very relaxing dinner in a warm atmosphere. My wife & I both had the Hibachi Chicken for $17.00. Our dinners came with vegetables, hibachi grill style noodles, two shrimp, soup & salad. Next time we will ask the chef to cut back on the onions, they overpowered the vegetables. Overall, we had a great meal and we will return. read more

I typically get sushi at Kabuki, but yesterday I opted for a new item on the lunch menu: Curry Yaki Udon. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I was expecting. I have hoping for a spicy red curry-like dish. This dish had a sweeter flavor with added spice. There wasn't an initial kick, but as you continued to eat it, you could feel the mild heat. The Udon noodles were nice and chewy, but the sauce didn't do it for me. I enjoy Kabuki for their sushi and hibachi. I don't think I'll deviate from my typical menu choices next time. read more

Don't do it. Have standards. These people were physically and mentally unable to process simple tasks and instructions. The chef squirted sake in the mouths of consenting and semi-consenting people, and in the drinks of the non-consenting. Ruined my alcoholic beverage and my faith in humanity. Never again. read more
