It is a bit unusual, and wanted a larger size one, so I wasn't sure if they would be able to get what I wanted. Just 2 weeks later they called and said it was in and ready for pick up. The plants are exactly what I wanted. A few things to note: 1. They don't take plant orders, but they do take requests. I think this is because there is no guarantee they can get it. 2. You have to pay over the phone if you want them to hold on to for you. I couldn't pick it up for about 5 days so I paid over the phone and they held on to it for me. 3. They are a bit pricey, in general, their prices are a bit higher than other nurseries, but the quality is also very high. I'll definitely keep going here for my specialty plant needs.

Fifty dollars for a small perennial is exorbitant especially close to the end of the growing season . Simply too expensive. Broadway gardens in South Portland is more reasonable with prices clearly displayed. Case in point: for the same selection and number of perennials total was $280 at Estabrooks versus $124 at Broadway. A huge difference in pricing.

What we found was far more than expected! This nursery is a hidden gem with an incredible selection of plants, trees, and garden goods--all at extremely reasonable prices. We've now been back three times, and each visit has been better than the last. Today we had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Nancy and Ed, and they are wonderful. Incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Their entire team is just as friendly and helpful. They even had a fantastic Father's Day special--25% off fruit trees and fruit plants--which made our visit even sweeter. Thanks to them, we found the perfect additions for our garden, and this place has officially become part of our Sunday routine whenever we're in town. If you're anywhere near the Richmond area, Bushes Bushes is an absolute must-stop. Lovely smaller local Greenhouse with good perennials, annuals, herbs, veggies. They have a few…read moretrees. They have an indoor store with seeds, loose grass seed by the scoop, various fertilizers and pest control products. They feature their sales on Facebook page and usually have a weekly featured $1.00 perennial. This week was delphiniums...my fave! They have a lot of great perennials in 2 inch cups for $2.00 which can't be beat...included lupines, various sedums, lavender, rosemary, etc. Their lettuce looked picture perfect. Friendly staff. Seasonal store and usually opens again around Christmas and sells trees, and these cute greenery gnomes. We were staying in downtown Portland and drove out towards Freeport to check out a few things, which is when we swung by here. Primarily, because it was closer to me vs. the 1.5 I was driving....and the Staff! Sooo nice Here is what actually got me to stop, the LAWN SIGNS, a row of them telling me what they have. They had me at Baked Good :) Well, there was another thing that peaked my interest that even got me to pay attention to the lawn signs, the apples - I picked up a bag of their apples at Bow Street Market and was blown away by the quality and I had never tried Red Gravenstein before. It's a delicious snacking apple. This apple is just slightly tart and a medium tenderness, not too crisp or too soft. It is just the right size, that I have never throw away anything but the seeds and stem. I think they had a least a half dozen varieties of apples. The staff will happily recommend types to you as well, depending on what you want to do with them. They will also share their personal opinion if you ask. Not just apples...I didn't have time to look around too much, BUT, I did see....apple cider donuts, that were FRESH ....still warm! They were soft with a slightly crisp exterior. Soooo good. We bought 6! They also have a cooler with pub cheese! If you didn't know, cheese and apples actually are a tasty combo. There is also a table near the register that displays locally made whoopie pies - the traditional Maine variety. More YUMMY! I highly recommend this cute location.

It's not crowded or commercial--it's family-owned, relaxing, and has the kind of charm you don't find often anymore. Run by the…read moredelightful Lucy family (and staffed by two accomplished young men), the Orchard has the most amazing views, and, although moderately busy, there was plenty of parking and lots of great apples. I was happy that I could bring my well-behaved dog and appreciated the strategically placed hand sanitizer stations and collegiality of other masked pickers. Great place for an afternoon of fresh air and local Maine produce, in a beautiful setting... oh, and cider and pumpkins and PIES too!
