The first LL Bean building we came upon is their Bicycle specialty shop. With all the renovations LLBean is doing to create a bigger better campus of their brand, it was cool to see the different type of services, tune ups, bicycles for entry or experienced riders as well as the new electronic bikes. Definitely out of my price range for a casual biker, but if we were to actually get serious about it i would definitely consider finding one thru them. The staff was nice, one gentleman upstairs gave us a pamphlet and gave us a visual tour of what each building of theirs housed and specialized in. Being the first time down there, that was very helpful. Bathrooms are also located on the second floor.

If you are in the area, I highly recommend stopping by here. There are four huge stores, each with a different specialty and different things to look at! It was pretty expensive, so if you want to shop, I would recommend you go to the outlet which is literally about a five minute walk. Very cool place to visit though!

I have bought LL Bean stuff for years but had never been to the main store in Maine. We were in that area and took advantage of it. the only negative is the parking... the place was slammed!! I had no idea that there would be several buildings to choose from... Home Items, Clothing, Toys, etc. We spent most of the time in the clothing area. There is so MUCH stuff in there and they had a wide variety of sizes... like tall options. The staff there were incredibly helpful... and there were a lot of them. Everyone wanted to help you find what you want. Bean stuff is expensive but I have coats and jackets that have lasted years and will last more as long as they are taken care of. I doubt I will be up that way again but if so i will try to have more time to look around.

Can't come to Maine and not go to Beans. You have to take a picture of yourself with the big boot. And everyone knows it. There was a line of people waiting there turn to take a picture. Huge selection of anything you can think of. School backpacks, jackets, camping gear, just so much to look at. Prices are high, but the quality is really good. I have winter jackets that are 10 years old, and look brand new. Of course I take care of my things too, but the quality helps stand the test of time and washes. Today they had s'mores out front with a fire pit where you could roast your own marshmallows. Always a fun time at L.L. Bean

I am blown away with the customer service at L.L.Bean. I made a purchase online and needed to return and exchange twice to get the right fit (my fault, not theirs) and the process was seamless. The return was complicated because I wanted to buy another size and compare both items before I returned one. I originally paid a sale price and I wanted to keep that price. The sale was over, so I needed some help. Tom, the gentleman who helped me was extremely pleasant and there was absolutely no "answering ridiculous questions." He asked only a couple of things to verify my call and had all the rest of the info at his fingertips. Exactly the way it is supposed to work but never does at other sellers! I did this twice and each time, Tom was so efficient and so nice. Everything you buy at L.L.Bean is guaranteed for a year. I'm a customer for life.

I don't know, maybe it's because I'm a Maine kid, but LL Bean is a brand we've always had in our lives, has always been reliable, and that we trust. I grew up only using their backpacks for school; and, now, I only use their hiking backpacks/poles for my adventures into the woods. Do I own a pair of Bean Boots? I sure do! They're mens, though, because they don't make womens shoes wide enough for my enormous flat feet (seriously). The service here is - and is known for being - both friendly and out-of-their-way helpful (we recently spent an hour with an employee who helped us find the perfect chelsea boot for my partner). Visiting the flagship store is an adventure, and that's what this review is actually focused on. Because you should definitely visit... but during their seasonal programs (which, even as a local, I get excited for)! If you're visiting January through June, ignore this. But, if you're visiting: 1. In the summer: they have a huge line-up of things to do on their campus in the summer including free concerts (with well known bands), yoga in the park, art in the park, storytime for kiddos, interactive demos of their products, movie nights, and more. 2. In October: they partner with Camp Sunshine for a Pumpkin Festival and have literally THOUSANDS of jack-o-lanterns on display, live music, a kid's costume parade, etc. The date changes, but it's usually mid-October! 3. At the holidays: oooooooh, we love the LL Bean campus in December! Their Northern Lights (which I think usually runs mid-November to January 1st) event features thousands and thousands of twinkling lights, reindeer, the opportunity to meet Santa, free hot cocoa (though I wish they'd have non-dairy/plant-based options!), a model train, and winter activities (sometimes "ice skating"). We go several times during the month and just sit on the warming benches, looking at all the lights. It's lovely. Thanks, LL Bean, for caring about/engaging with/treating your local community!

While visiting family, I saw the L.L. Bean catalog and being that the store was less than half an hour away, we stopped in the day before I left. The service was exceptional. They had a large selection of jeans in so many styles and sizes. Thankfully I was able to narrow it down to three and then pick one quickly. The quality of the pair of jeans was good but they were pricey.

After hauling all my friends from away here, I am pretty exhausted from doing the same thing over and over and waiting for my friends or family to look at freakin *everything* but, I think that's a testament to the majestic brilliance of the LL Bean store. They really do have almost everything. The hunting entrance is the best way to bring in guests, in my opinion. The 'Maine cabin' theme really does impress, with all the guns and mounted heads. Even though I sort of have to groan under my breath each time I bring people here, I do usually end up purchasing something. They really do make nice stuff, and obviously if you're an outdoors lover. Before I moved to Maine, I had maybe one item from LL Bean, but now I'm showing my 'current city' pride by amassing a bunch of clothes and accessories from them. Not just clothes, but they sell almost every hunting and camping accessory you can think of, and entire sections for men, women, and kids. On my recent visit, I brought my Danish friend who undoubtedly has viking genes, and was super excited to see how many items of clothing were available in "tall" Great store to check out. Freeport is definitely a tourist town, so I would say it is a "must visit" if you're on vacay, and if you're local... well, you know.

We're surprised to find some pretty negative reviews here since that hasn't been our experience…read more We've visited twice recently, and on both occasions we found some attractive sale items (shirts, blazer) and encountered friendly and knowledgeable help from the staff. They left us alone to browse, as we requested, but then showed up when we needed their advice. We've found the store clean, well-stocked and the sales genuine. Maybe not the largest BB outlet, but not sure what else we could expect, and sorry others have found unpleasant issues here.

My husband and I went to the Freeport, Maine Brooks Brothers Outlet yesterday- 8/17/2024. We are…read morelocal and have never received such poor service from an establishment in the area. We are frequent shoppers of Brooks Brothers (Main store, outlet, and online) from casual wear to full blown suits/ formal wear. We've spent a lot of money over the years and to be treated like a second class citizen was very uncomfortable. Upon arrival we were not greeted- fine, not a big deal. We picked out shirts and I watched as their staff (man and woman) went to each person on the floor to offer them assistance. We just received a glance, not even a smile. We have thick skin, maybe they were just having a bad day. We just moved along on our shopping mission and my husband tried on some clothes. We had a few shirts for my husband that we wanted to check out with. We went to the register counter where a gentleman was standing and whom we presumed was the manager, to check out. We had to ask for assistance at this point. "Hi! Are we able to check out here?!" The gentleman looked up avoiding eye contact and said it'll just be a minute, held up a finger and someone would help us. No big deal, figured he needed someone to ring us up on the register and wasn't capable at that moment. There was a female employee folding clothes on a off to the side of the checkout area, who did look up but continued doing was she was doing. So we stood there and watched the gentleman (using that term loosely) gesture over to an older couple and their young adult college aged child (who were farther away from where we were looking at items) asked them if they were ready to check out and had them come over in front of us. This employee made a judgement call on who he wanted to provide customer service to. I overhead their interaction and one of the first things the employee, manager stated to this family was "you look like someone who's shopped here before" when referencing an account in their system. That's the problem, this employee is making a call based off their own judgement. At this point the female employee comes over and asks if we're ready. I was firm with my reply in stating, "yes, we have been". After I was trying to make small talk with her she was dazed and not replying. It was uncomfortable awkwardness, didn't ask us if we found everything okay, and the real kicker... didn't even bother to ask if we were in the system. She states the total, I put my card into the point of sale machine and state "ya know... I am in the system and have an account here". All flustered, she cancels the transaction and goes "ohh ohh uhhh okay". I provide her with my info to which she replies that there is $25 on the account and asked if I would like to use it. I replied with "yes". This would have been a perfect opportunity for an apology and turn our experience around to make things right. That wasn't the case. I tried to go back to small talk but she ignored me and proceeded to chat with the male employee about how there were a few tuxedo sales that day. I looked at my husband in disbelief, I was fuming inside at this point. She handed us the bag, over the counter. I have shopped in this location enough to know that they usually walk it around the counter and hand it to you. There was no thank you on their end, no have a nice day. In fact nothing except the look of pure disgust on her face. I took the bag, looked at my husband, then back to her and reluctantly said "thank you". No response. So I said "I hope you have the day you deserve" as I walked toward the exit. Here's our advice for The Freeport, Maine Brooks Brothers Outlet team- DO BETTER and HAVE SOME CLASS! Maybe take a course on customer service, maybe wash away the judgmental attitude. I don't typically leave reviews based off of a negative experience as I understand everyone has an "off" day- however, the fact that they blatantly chose to be kind to some people and not others is baffling. You never know who a customer/ client may know in corporate and what information can be passed on with a quick phone call. So please ALWAYS treat your customers/clients with respect and kindness, regardless of who they are- kindness goes a long way! We hope you take the time to read this long review and make the necessary changes to ensure this doesn't happen to other customers/clients.

The real problem for me was despite the fact there were quite a few people working there on a not very busy weekday no one offered me one minute of salesmanship or assistance. No one said hello when I walked in. No one asked me if I needed help. A bunch of wanna be hipsters roamed lethargically about the store doing who knows what. Not much. I tried on a top. I liked it so went to to the register to purchase it. Nary a greeting was uttered by the lackluster guy at the register. And after paying more than I should have in retrospect for the top, this lamebrain took it from the tousled heap he had made of it on the counter and deposited said "heap" into the bag. Oh...he asked me first if I wanted a bag. I had a tiny purse with me and nothing else. Yes, I want a bag even though in your eyes you want to make me out as a wasteful person hence your question because in this day and age no one should want a bag...ever. I am not going to walk out of there with a shirt slung over my bare arm. "Just give me a freaking bag", I wanted to yell. My husband thought I should return the overpriced top after such crappy service but that meant I would have had to spend more time in this awful store. After the payment transaction and before leaving the counter, I took my too expensive top out of the bag and proceeded to fold it properly as should have been done to begin with. Wanna be hipster dude said: "I would have done that for you!" Well, dude, why didn't you? Don't bother with this store. Ugh.

The dog seemed to be having a "bark-off" with another large dog sitting by its owner. While I love dogs, I wasn't expecting to encounter such a noisy situation while shopping. I believe stores should maintain a peaceful environment for all customers, and I don't think dogs (unless they're service animals) should be allowed inside.
