I would not recommend this Orthopedic. I was scheduled to get an injection showed up as instructed put in a room and was not seen. I never met the Dr who was to do injection. This office overbooks and fails to follow up as needed. I will seek care somewhere else. read more

Well I just had my first bad experience with this practice. In 2018, I had surgery with Dr Galland and for the most part saw his nurse practitioner Carolyn who was fantastic! He was good too. This week...a bit of a different experience. I was diagnosed with a break in the top of my fibula bone in which the ER doc said I needed casting. I went in to be seen Monday to urgent care bc I was told to go ASAP. I saw Dr. Ryan Tarr. Assessment wise he did ok and explained a couple things. I left with no brace or immobilizer for my leg. He said if he put the cast on me, I'd hate him bc it'd be from ankle to groin. Again I left only on crutches and having a lot of pain as I broke my leg 6 days before I saw him (and didn't know it) and had been limping and grunting and breathing as if I was giving birth those 6 days. I explained I could not take NSAIDS due to past ulcer surgeries. He gave me 3 days of pain Med. On Friday I called in bc I thought I needed a second opinion on my game plan, not having an immobilizer, my family wasnt happy with my care so I talked to a clinical manager. She helped and said she'd ask him about a boot. I also reminded her that I couldn't take Aleeve or Motrin due to perfirated ulcers and could she ask him if I could have enough meds to get me thru the weekend. Side note: my family has to drive 2.5 hours Sunday, pack up our car and drive 2.5 hours back the same day. Did I mention the condo we are cleaning out is up 3 flights of stairs with no elevator? Listen, I know there is an opioid crisis. But 2-3 tops extra days on top of the 3 days he gave me Monday wouldn't make anyone dependent. I told my mom he was very young and I'm sure he was taught to be conservative in school. But no patient is cookie cutter. He told me to just take Tylenol. Really? Did I mention that I've been a nurse for 25 years and as an ICU nurse, once my patients were hemodynamically stable, I made sure they were comfortable bc they had a drain or tube and numerous IV's coming out from everywhere. "They say" what goes around, comes around. I lean more to the Bible's version of "You reap what you sew" Perhaps one day Dr Ryan Tarr will be in need. Who knows. Or perhaps he starts listening to his patients better after reading this review. read more

Run... don't walk away from this place. Terrible, unprofessional &$$ motivated doctors. Did not go over my very expensive mri and xrays with me. I did not get to see the images until calling practice manager and going back again - 3 visits later. Was told i need partial knee replacement with a full replacement in my future. I saw a supervising doctor who just complained about my original doctor and still did not have my images. He provided me brochures for very expensive knee braces and suggested injections. Wait, what? I thought I needed replacement surgery. I immediately asked for my file so I could go to another doctor. ZERO confidence in these guys. If you dare to ask how much longer it may be, expect a disgusted look and irritation from staff who seem to unanimously agree their time is more valuable than yours. I saw Dr. Ashana. He came in the room, didn't introduce himself or greet me, was there 4 minutes! 5 months of sciatica and he didn't do any exam, go into the history, etc. Rather abrupt. I told him I had been going to therapy with great results and could walk a mile without pain now but he wasn't listening - talking about an epidural. I think this clinic is a $$ factory assembly line place - saw people go in and out very fast. I asked about the MRI report's findings and he blew it off saying at my age spines always had abnormalities. I was an ICU nurse and wanted to know what it meant but he obviously didnt want to bother. I see others had problems with the front office - I found them to be courteous and helpful. read more

Avoid their pain clinic as they do not care about the patient and only want to throw a few pills at you and get you out the door in under 5 minutes. They spend more time counting pills in the 5 feet by 5 feet room than dealing with the patient. It is more about money than your care. read more

I've made the mistake of coming to this location twice; once for an injury and once for a sports physical. We won't be back. Post-appointment we couldn't get anyone to return our calls or emails, or follow up with the orthopedist regarding xrays. When we went for the physical, the waiting room was empty and we waited for well over an hour as people came and went and no one even addressed us until I asked-TWICE. Would not recommend. read more

Medically I would come back here in a heartbeat. Unfortunately dealing w/ the front desk isn't worth the time, stress and aggravation. The 1st visit was fine, after that they treated me like an ATM. They refused to let me see the doctor w/o paying 1st, my plan insurance pays 1st and then I pay what's left- no copay. I went to the car and cried while trying to understand, I did not bring my receipt with me. Here the payment made 2 wks prior still hadn't posted, no apology, just call scheduling to make another appt. The people working here are rude, inept and act like they are doing you a favor. Every visit was the same shit but I took all my receipts and EOBs. Now that I'm done dealing with them a HUGE weight has been lifted off of me. If I go back, it will be through the VA so I won't be hassled every visit. If you have a copay and that's it you'll probably be fine because that's all they know. read more

I'm reading these bad reviews and thinking, "Wow. My experience was great. I should say something." I came here in a great deal of pain from arthritis and scoliosis that has compressed a disc in my back. It buckles my knees when it shocks me with pain--which is any time I get up from a chair, roll over, or lie down for any length of time. It's pretty awful, and I needed help. They saw this and said so. I was taken back quickly--within 10 minutes. My doctor was attentive and kind. So was the Physician's Assistant. They listened well, and I left with a prescription, a resolve to do more physical therapy, and instructions to take the steroid injections only once a year. I don't know what these bad reviewers think is this office's fault. If you don't find out from your insurance company EXACTLY what you'll be paying for surgery, that's on you. If you have to wait 45 minutes, maybe there was a child with a broken leg and everyone was stressed. And if the staff were not overly kind and polite, maybe you weren't either. read more

So I have had the unfortunate blessing of bad knees. Quick history on it is I've torn my Right knee ACL and meniscus a few years back. I had my surgery done with another office. They were great but I moved away from them and I went to OSNC for my new knee problems. My Doctor, Dr.Galland, has been the best doctor I've ever had! He has been upfront, professional, and informal on everything that he thinks may be wrong and what he wants to do. I unfortunately had to have ACL Revision, and Dr. Galland did an amazing job with my surgeries. I recently tore my left ACL and Meniscus and will be having surgery with him again. It sounds weird but I'm excited for him to be fixing my knee. In all, if you want a great surgeon, friendly and helpful staff, and want to get back to activities go see OSNC and book with Dr. Galland! You won't be disappointed! read more

I really liked Dr. Garland and his PA. They were both very helpful & competent. Dr. Watson's PA on the other hand is completely useless! She never has an answer for any of my questions. Her typical responses are "I don't know" & "we don't do that." She never offers any help or other suggestions! She just doesn't come across as competent or professional & considering that I basically only saw her, that doesn't reflect well on the doctor. read more

I have been under pain management with Dr. Stephens for over a year now, and very time I go in, the process of seeing him is more complicated and more frustrating. I am a patient who follows medication instructions, and very careful to manage my doses. Over the last couple months, I have expressed that I would need to discuss how we could manage my medication, since I have a 2 1/2 month trip to the other side of the country to help my daughter with her new baby, and do would not be able to get back to the office at the two month mark, so was there something way to manage this. He had indicated that his personal policy was to not 'give in' to such unreasonable patient requests. I've done extensive research on how I might somehow see a doctor there with support from him here (which he said he would not do, and no pain management clinic takes walk ins without some sort of original doctor intervention), or some way that we could manage this. He shot down every one, and often acted as though my questions on how to manage the medication I have been being prescribed for pain each month makes me a drug seeking addict. It's humiliating. His response has been, 'I cannot provide you with medication to get you back here, you will need to cut your trip short, or fly home to see us to get new prescriptions'. From across the country. Today, after discovering last night that my daughter is having complications, and now I must leave earlier to help her, I had an appointment and I explained this and asked how we could manage the gap between now and when the medication (that is the only thing keeping me walking right now) will run out, his response was 'I feel like you are pressuring me' and when I said no, I'm trying to figure out how to make this work, he walked out. He.walked.out. I'm sorry to say that the stress of this and my daughters' pregnancy danger got the better of me,and I cried while checking out, and expressed my frustration through my tears. I have seen a specific Orthopedist at this office since for about six months for hip pain and have gotten to the point of posting this negative review, some that never occurred to me. I've seen him before for other things and had no problem but this time I feel like he hasn't really listened to me, and the only thing he did was get an MRI, and refer me to a PT, which helped but I'm still having trouble sitting and laying in one side. He was supposed to refer me to another doctor to get an injection after another doctor I am seeing for other issues approved it. When I told his assistant it was ok, she said she was going to contact that doctor's staff. That was weeks ago and I've never heard back from anyone. Get ready for a long wait and not so friendly front desk staff. I have been here two times. Once for my son which resulted in a 45 minute wait in the lobby before our scheduled appointment. The second time was about a 40 minute wait in the lobby before my scheduled appointment. Dr Correa was in a hurry and he hardly had time to answer any questions even though he was proposing surgery. Even his nurse was a bit rude when she rolled her eyes and asked why I needed shoes for the short walk down the hall to the x-ray room. I explained that it was very painful to walk with a bone spur in my heel. When the doctor came back to talk about the x-ray, but didn't bother to even bring it. When I kept asking questions about how something looked he finally said 'well I guess I might as well show it to you.' For some reason I thought when you had an x-ray, you would look at it with the doctor so you could understand the diagnosis. I was turned over to his assistant to set up an appointment for PRP therapy. This was the other recommendation by Dr. Correa. I wasn't fully confortable with him but was feeling desperate for pain relief. This is not typically covered by insurance so his assistant was looking into this to obtain an estimate for me. This took two months and I never received an estimate so I canceled the procedure. She acted like it was no big deal and still offered to dig up a price. ?? I did end up having an MRI and when Dr. Correa called to give me his interpretation, his most memorable consolation words to my untreatable condition was 'it is what it is'. He then told me he would have another doctor call me for a different treatment but I never received a phone call. This is truly the most convoluted, unprofessional experience with any doctor I have ever had in my entire life. read more

The PAs that tended to my son were amazing. After Xrays showed a broken wrist that needed to be set, they talked through different options both in the office and at the ER. We opted to let them try to set it, and they were very patient and did a great job. One star deducted as they couldn't give my little guy any meds for pain or nerves (not even Tylenol). They even called AND texted me at 10pm at night to let us know the doctor's approval of the reset wrist bones. So glad we didn't go to the ER. read more

BEWARE - following numerous attempts to schedule an appointment and messages to Dr Edgar X Correa DPM that went unanswered regarding the post surgical difficulties I am experiencing, I sought two separate opinions. An MRI was ordered and the results showed that the surgery Correa performed had failed completely after a few months. The results were forwarded to Correa and NC Ortho months ago and still no response. Now, I need a second surgery that will not correct the failure of the first procedure. A second more drastic procedure is required to reduce the chronic pain the first surgery left me with and another 8 months of rehab. AVOID Correa. read more

Great Ortho specialists and they offer a reasonable fee for PRP injections. I would have rated 5-star except for two reasons: 1) the office is extremely busy - especially the receptionist area and I can never reach the person who schedules surgery directly; I always leave a message and It may be 24 hrs b4 a call back. 2) the PRP injections are only on Mon. AM, which isn't necessarily convenient for the patient. There should be some flexibility since the process is done in-office. read more

I have been a patient for two years. Dr. Wheeless worked with me for over a year to get me healthy enough for knee replacements. He and his team are concerned about my total health not just the one body part they are working on. I have had three surgeries now and the follow up care after each was so much more thorough than what my husband had with his surgeons. After knee replacements I saw the doctor weekly for a month, then every other week for a month. My surgeries were staged every two months so I am about to experience the rest of the follow up. My best advice is to do what you are told. If you don't do the PT and all of the follow up you will not get the same result. All of my pre-lab testing and something encountered during the surgery revealed some additional health concerns. Dr. Wheeless referred me appropriate specialists to deal with those issues As the year has gone on and I have had more visits, the scheduling has improved greatly. I used to sit forever in the waiting room but now I rarely wait more than 10-15 minutes. They pay attention to reviews and work to improve. Communication and return calls have improved vastly as well. The staff while they have always been nice, they are now better trained and not so over worked so things run more smoothly. After each of my surgeries, Dr. Wheeless asked me, "What could we have done to make this better for you?" He cares passionately. read more

Honestly, I would give this location 5 stars simply based on the Excellent medical service we received from Dr. Zuber. However, his medical assistant/Nurse Denise is very unprofessional and negligent. My child was seen in this Wake Forest location. The Doctor advised strict medical restrictions. We left 4 voicemail messages requesting that this woman call us back regarding the Doctor's note that we needed for my child's medical condition. The initial note she had given us in office had my child's private HIPAA information disclosed on the document (we didn't realize this until we were home). I left very clear, consise directions on each voicemail about what we needed. We even said it would be fine to give us a general, fill-in-the-blank type of note that most Doctors issue. We received one from another of their locations so we don't understand why she couldn't accomodate this. The Doctor's note was for my child's school and was critical. She finally called us back after we asked an appointment scheduler to message her for us. I wasn't able to speak with Denise when she called back but she left us a voicemail stating she never received any of our previous voicemail messages (lie) AND that she didn't know how to help us. I would NOT recommend this Wake Forest location at all due to the incompetent work behaviors of Denise. In fact, I am looking for another Specialist today. read more

If you need radial wrist surgery, I recommend to see a hand surgeon and NOT Dr. Mark Galland at Orthopedic Specialists of NC. His inexperience with wrist surgery caused my index finger tendon to rupture and need a second surgery to fix the tendon. After breaking my wrist from rollerblading with my kids, he performed surgery on my wrist that involved adding a plate and screws to fix the breaks. After a few months, it seemed there was constant swelling on the top of my hand. I finally got tired of dealing with it and went back in to see Dr. Galland about why this was happening. He said it was a cyst and drained it the same day. About a month later, I started getting a lot of soreness in my wrist after brief sudden pain. I went back to see the PA, and after reviewing the x-rays and not seeing anything wrong with the hardware, she instructed me to put my palm down toward my wrist and massage the tendon on and around my wrist to see if that helped the soreness. A week later, the tendon in my index finger ruptured, and I could not hold my index finger in line with the others. I was referred to a hand surgeon to fix the ruptured tendon. The hand surgeon had an x-ray taken where my fingers were pointed down toward my wrist and immediately saw the screw sticking up above the bone that caused the tendon to rupture. He said he would have cut the screws a little shorter if he had done the surgery because he has seen this sort of thing happen many times. And if I had reported soreness in my wrist at some point after surgery, he would have taken the hardware out immediately. If Orthopedic Specialists of NC had done this extra x-ray during surgery or at the very least, when I reported soreness in my wrist, they would have seen the screw extending above the bone, and I would not have to deal with a ruptured tendon. And when I asked them if they could help pay for the second surgery, they said making the screw too long and telling me to massage the tendon until the screw ruptured the tendon was a "complication", not anything they did wrong. I hope they have changed their standard procedures for situations like this so this does not happen to anyone else. read more

We had a terrible experience here. We were seen in the urgent care department in Knightdale by Ms. McArthur. The intake nurse/X-ray tech obviously did not like children. She was very blatant about that. The PA took a few x-rays of my daughter's arm and eventually gave us the explanation that my daughter was acting like she was in pain and seeking attention because nothing was broken. 4 days later her arm is swollen and she is in terrible pain. Went to Raleigh Orthopedics. Her arm is broken and needs emergency surgery. Ms. McArthur with Ortho NC completely missed that her arm was broken. We will never use them again. Terribly disappointing experience here and furthermore their incompetency could have lead to further complications for my child. read more

The first time we used this practice we felt a bit rush and ill informed but we figured it was possibly just the doctor. We decided to use them again for our eldest son that was injured since it was close to our home and he was in excruciating pain. BIG MISTAKE! Even though it was a different doctor apparently it wasn't just the first doctor we used but seems to be the way they treat patients at this practice! The doctor came in after having us wait for over an hour, like a tornado. He was rambling and pushing us to do some treatment that is not FDA approved for our son. When we asked questions about it he couldn't answer any of them except it wasn't guaranteed. We informed him we weren't comfortable with using our son as a guinea pig. We asked for an MRI to see the extent of his injury so they could figure out the best course of action, the doctor kept mentioning about the cost. I couldn't understand why when we would be the ones in charge of any costs if any. We told him fortunately cost wasn't our priority. We insisted we wanted the best care for our son and if an MRI would help access the situation to help treat him we wanted it. He told us it would be at least a week before he got one and then another few weeks until he'd be able to see our son again and then another several weeks to get into PT. He then got up and said his assistant would get us the information for the MRI and walked out. After speaking to the front desk manager and explaining our displeasure with the rushed feeling and then her going over our insurance and realizing our plan didn't require a pre-approval, we were able to get the MRI that afternoon. We then scheduled the follow up that next day. We ended up waiting again for about an hour until he came in. It was a repeat of the previous day. A world-wind of rambling info and rude and obnoxious replies. He was talking to us and saying "last week when I saw you I told you that he was torn but you still wanted the MRI and of course it showed exactly what I told you." My husband told him we didn't see him last week that it was the previous day. The doctor said "yes, exactly." I was very concerned with his seemingly double talking. We tried to get more information on how to treat the injury. My exact words, "Can you please explain more like how often he needs to ice, for how long, when he should use heat, when he should stop using the crutches?" He cut me off and got agitated and raised his voice "You want some magic bullet and I don't have that. I don't normally give information out for people to treat things on their own." There was obviously something off about the interaction with him. My husband and son were just as confused as I was with his reaction. We didn't know where it came from. Not sure if this doctor was confusing us with someone else or he was burned out/over worked. Either way, it was not very comforting to have our son's care entrusted to someone like him! My husband told him we weren't asking for anything like what he was saying. We wanted more detailed info than just, "you can ice it and put some heat too if you want, take 2 aleve twice a day and talk to the PT at school to work on you so you can have treatment and it will be free" why this doctor was so insistent on 'free' things and the cost of things when we have great medical coverage. Even after we were very clear we weren't concerned about cost. We left that office confused, upset and concerned. The most helpful person was the woman that helped get the MRI that same day. She seemed genuinely concerned and saddened about our 'rushed' 'assembly line' experience with the office. read more

Just talk about not paying attention. I went in on the weekend after getting hurt but come on spend a little more then 2 minutes of time with the patient looking for the cause. Thought I hurt my hamstring so that is what was looked at but after seeing my hamstring did not hurt at all and had full strength in it, I just got sent on my way with crutches. Good thing I went somewhere else that actually looked at my leg. Could of done so much more damage to myself with the completely torn ACL I actually had and needed surgery for repair. Front desk and nurses were helpful but just does not help enough with the poor experience I had at the Raleigh/Wake Forest location. read more

I have gotten excellent care from this practice in the past and their PT dept. is second to none. After tearing all my rotator cuff tendons a few years back, the surgeon and the PT folks did an amazing job. When I went back recently for serious back pain it was like it was a different practice. From the first visit, Dr. Suh seemed to be in a hurry. I was told that it was likely muscle or ligament but the pain was so sharp I was sure it was nerve related. I was then referred to the PT dept. I was not getting much relief so I went back to see if the doctor would order an MRI. After my insurance company had denied the request, I was told, almost in passing that I could pay out of pocket and it would only be $124. This would have been helpful to know a week or two earlier as I had not had a decent nights sleep in over two weeks! I also saw a PA who prescribed me Tramadol. This was in addition to the meds Dr. Suh had already prescribed. I was told that it was not a narcotic and it would not be unsafe to drive. When I read the medication info, the first line clearly says that its an opioid narcotic and that you should not drive or operate machinery! When I mentioned this to Dr. Suh on my LAST visit, he seemed offended that I brought it up. I sensed no desire on his part to help me or get to the bottom of my problem and my last 3 questions were asked with his hand on the door knob. Absolutely horrible. The PT section rehabbed my knee for months for the wrong diagnosis, so after practically begging for an MRI due to extreme pain, I found out that I had been walking around for weeks with a torn meniscus. The surgeons and PAs hardly have any appointment times available, so I had to wait over a month to get surgery. Even now (4 months later) I am still experiencing issues and cannot get an appointment with a PA for over 2 weeks. And then when I actually get an appointment time, I wait in the waiting room for at least 30 minutes (one time I actually waited 1 hour and 15 min for MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT). Once I am in my appointment, everything feels very rushed and the providers seem like they would rather be anywhere else (however one of my PAs is very informative and takes the time to discuss). Staff and PAs/nurses have terrible communication and many of the young PAs/nurses are not well trained and very unprofessional. read more
