Most theaters opened up again in New York State September/October 2020 for Theatre never reopened, except for a few pop-ups done by upstate films. But then they did get a grant from New York State and did a beautiful renovation. It's now a non-for-profit theater. The people running it are really very dedicated caring people. They really love film and theaters like this that were built and located in downtown all across the United States in the 1920s 1930s 1940s 1950s Is it a fantastic job with the renovation in the lobby. All around the theater Downstairs the main theater has 500 seat seats and a nice big curtain used when the movie begins. It opens up, closes when the movie ends the credits. Upstairs has 150 seat seats Both theaters the seats are quite comfortable, even though they are the old style smaller seats compare compared purchase theaters that have large or more modern seats The projection in each theater is clear and crisp for the sound very good too They show a mix of first run films. Classic films, foreign and more art house type movies. Also that are very good that you can't see at the Multiplex theaters They have different levels of membership that you can. Choose to purchase. Tuesday is bargain night $5 So if you live in Catskill or any of the towns surrounding Catskill. Even if you're 20 or 30 minutes away, definitely come to Catskill. Browse around at the shops like the bookstore Records store other shops could eat in a restaurant before or after the movie. The community theater is a real GEM. It needs your support as an independent nonprofit Theatre.

We speedily & efficiently bought our reasonably priced tickets and headed that way. What a delight! It was comfy and they offered your typical munchies of popcorn, candies, sodas and even canned beer. I thought the seats were comfy too and I was just so thrilled that we have a movie theatre so close! I highly recommend that people go! Support this business so it can keep its doors open!!! I visited Millerton a very nice little town in Dutchess County New York. Several times over the…read moreyears. But I was always there during the weekday around lunchtime or early on a Saturday when there weren't any screenings at the Theatre. The building was actually built as a Grange hall in 1905. Where they showed Movies in the upstairs section. In 1927 wad known as the Millerton theatre There's a very nice lounge with a café and art gallery upstairs It was converted into four screens. Screen one has 154 seats. Screen two has 142 seats screen three has 136 seats and the screening room has 38 seats. When you walk in the front doors, the concession stand is up in front of you. To the left and right our poster cases with current movies on the left side and classic films on the right side The young lady behind the concession stand. Was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a large popcorn and green iced tea. I was coming for a screening of the movie Network . On September 24. That exact date is mentioned in the movie. I went up the very staircase steps to the second floor, where the movie was playing in theater 3. There is an elevator so you don't have to navigate those steep steps going up or down The lounge area was very nice looking, retro. I looked into the little screening room across from the bar down a little hallway. It had a pretty good size screen and comfortable seat seats. I picked a seat in the middle section of the theater. Which has a nice ambience. The screen is a very good size as well. The projection of crisp and clear. Very good sound system as well. I'm a big supporter of these independent historic downtown theaters. The look and feel of this theater was different from other theaters. like the Orpheum theater in Saugerties or Upstate Films/Rhinebeck/Saugerties . I would say it felt more luxurious. The café area had a couch that looks like it came from the 1950s One can buy a membership to support the Theatre. As it's a nonprofit Theatre now. This Theatre is a GEM in the downtown of Millerton. They have special screenings like network. As well as when the director of an independent film will come on a Saturday afternoon to do a question and answer session. Stop at one of the restaurants in town before or after a movie. The Moviehouse will definitely be a destination that I will be going back to several times a year.

Sure enough, upon googling, there it was! I promptly bought tickets. The outside makes it stand out, the inside was kind of open and had a couple posters advertising upcoming shows, then you go through this small door into a small theater - there isn't a bad seat in the house!! Not sure if they were trying to compensate for it being pretty cold outside, but it was very warm in the theater (and I'm ALWAYS cold!) I thought my husband was going to melt! There isn't a private parking lot that I could find, and being that it's on the main drag in Tannersville, you can park on the street or the small lots. We didn't have trouble parking, but if ski season was in full swing - 7 on a Friday night?! I imagine it would be more difficult. I will definitely be checking back for more shows and events.

I recently caught "Imagining Madoff" here, and I was impressed by not only the writing and the acting, but also by the genuine community that supports these productions. I went in with low expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised. But I couldn't help but notice...perhaps it's because we caught the opening night show and only theater patrons were present, but the crowd here at Stageworks is...not young. At 107 years of age, my father was the youngest man in the crowd. My mother was one of several people that fell asleep during the performance, but I suppose that's what happens when you don't have an intermission, and everyone in the audience has been on the same sleep schedule since before electricity. They should've taken advantage of the coffee available pre-show for a $1 donation.* The theater WAS kept at around 55 degrees, probably to try and keep people awake/prevent them from decomposing. The Artistic Director's autistic nephew also lives in the building and gets violent whenever he gets angry. While I was working there, he came out of his room, tried to hit me, and also grabbed me. I was terrified because he's a 6'4" 23 year old man who can easily hurt you if he wanted to. Because he's autistic, he doesn't understand his actions and can go after anyone. I strongly encourage anybody thinking about going there not to if you don't want to take the chance of getting hurt.
