DO NOT CALL ORKIN. They lied to me. They told me it was $60 every OTHER month then charged me $60 EVERY month. The techs were nice, but they might have as not shown up at all. I paid ~450 for the initial service and had to call them for visits 3x in a month. Their 10m sprays don't solve the problem. Still see ants. Still have new spider webs popping up on new furniture. I rarely write reviews, but this service, or lack there of, is a scam and I don't want others to be ripped off. read more

This company is bad. They told us we were infested with bats and mice and then the crew came to clear it all and the crew said we had no bats or mice droppings. They charged us so much money to insulate our workshop. The tech said they had never insulated before. The insulation was not done correct. They cancel every appointment and we will no longer use them. We will go with a local exterminator in our area. read more

I'm not usually one to leave bad reviews where I try to give everyone benefit of the doubt. However, this was just too frustrating not to post... Maybe I can save someone else the hassle. I talked with two Orkin representatives about coming to treat my home. They were professional and friendly over the phone. I felt very confident. We secured a time and date. I spoke with two representatives that week to double check. Welp, the day came, and I waited an hour and fifteen minutes. No one showed. So, I called the Orkin representative near me, and she said it was never scheduled. I told them it was, and I talked to two different representatives prior. She continued to state it was not. Needless to say, they never showed and never offered any further assistance. It was such a let down, where I was really depending on their help. I would never recommend this service to anyone, nor will I ever try to use them again. I hope I save the next person the hassle that I went through. I do not recommend them at all. read more

We live between a marsh and a small homestead and there has recently been lots of road construction. For the first time since the purchase of the house over 10 yrs. ago there started to be a bit of a rodent problem. So we called Orkin pest services. The advertisement states they will visit same day by noon and the price seemed right! My husband called Orkin on 7/1 to schedule an appointment, contract was emailed to us, pmt was made and appointment was scheduled for 7/3. We were happy!! Then my husband got a call from the tech stating he could be here on 7/2!! Wow that's even better right? We thought so too. Cameron showed up was polite, answered questions sprayed put down traps and left. We were told if we saw any more rodents before next scheduled visit to call and they will come back. We saw more activity so my husband called on 7/16 and scheduled another visit for 7/19. He immediately received a text stating he would receive a text the day before the scheduled date with a 2 hr service window. On 7/18 at 1:14 he received the text. Will be here next day between 12 and 2. Then again on 7/18 another text at 5:03 pm stating he would be here between 8am and 6 pm. On July 19th the waiting begins....in the meantime we were not contacted to have the monthly appointment scheduled. So my husband called to schedule for the monthly maintenance. Immediately after scheduling the monthly appt. He received another text stating they would be here on 7/19 between 4-6 pm. My husband is an elderly retired veteran. He had a medical appointment that he rescheduled in order to be home and wait for this paid for Orkin service to show up or communicate otherwise. Neither happened. So the day dragged on, my husband became more anxious, frustrated and depressed. This is what prompted him to call and schedule the monthly visit. It took several calls before anyone answered in the Portland branch then he was met with rudeness. And another text regarding this day's visit with new Information regarding a time. Its now Sunday. Still no word from anyone. No call no show!!! Seems to me that is a number one job requirement for any job. We paid for a professional service and no call no show from anyone in the organization is far from professional. We are currently on a mission to find a dependable service! read more

I can not believe the experience we have had with this company paid $400 for initial visit he set up a few mouse traps told us he couldn't spray for ants or mosquitoes because it was too windy. Notified us that the mice are getting in through hole in siding said he would have someone come give us an estimate to fix it but haven't heard anything else about that. He came back to check traps we asked about referral for hole he tells us again he'll send someone and again can't spray for ants or mosquitoes cause it's too windy. We've tried several times to call and find out why we paid when they haven't done anything but can never get anyone to answer their phone... never again and I don't recommend this company at all read more

We have had a horrible experience dealing with Orkin in Portland, Maine. After bat removal in a new home I purchased, I never heard from anyone about scheduling a recheck and needed to call myself to request it, then was told by manager (Gary) that he would call me back to schedule a time - and he never called me back. After I managed to track him down weeks later, I requested a recheck and was told the wildlife department would schedule with me directly. They finally called and scheduled a re-check appointment (a 4-hour window where I left work to be there for the appointment) and the wildlife department (Kevin) never showed or called, and when I called to inquire, they (Michelle) claimed that they had confirmed us for a different date which was simply not true. When the wildlife people finally arrived (20 minutes late) on our scheduled date, Kevin insisted that he had "attempted to come by to do the recheck" which is simply not true. I have no record of a single phone call from his cell, any phone calls from Orkin's office, and not a single email requesting that they come to the home. In short, I highly recommend you look elsewhere for help ridding your home of pests. The communication at Orkin is TERRIBLE. They never took responsibility for their lack of communication or their "no show" and continue to insist that the 3 month time period between treatment/removal and re-check is somehow MY fault - which is simply not the case. As a business owner myself who works directly with other business owners, I've never experienced such a lack of professionalism and I would never hire Orkin again. I paid $894 for an annual contract and I just spent 6 hours cleaning up 47 corners of spider droppings and killing about 70 spiders and 20 water bugs, mostly alive. I have live spiders in most corners of my ceiling and the orkin guy who came over said he didn't need to come inside the house because spraying outside will do the job. This is absolutely ridiculous and I would expect orkin to extend my contract so they can show that they can actually do the job correctly. It's disgusting and wasting my time which is why I contracted with them in the first place. if I could leave zero Stars, I would because this has not helped me at all and has caused me to lose money. read more

If I could give Orkin no stars I would. Been a customer of Orkin for almost 17 years. This location has been so frustrating to say the least. No shows on appointments, no call back from supervisors on issues, techs not performing their duties correctly, changing appointments on a regular basis and tech with an attitude. Too bad too because it's a pretty cut and dry job where a service can take 15-20 minutes and they can be on there way.....unless they leave traps that have animals in them and we have to call them back to complete the job! Need better management to teach service and empathy for their clients. read more

I would never recommend them. They were supposed to do an extermination for an elderly friend of mine and the started the job but never finished it an took her$1200. 00 for an incomplete job. She tried numerous times to call and find out when they were coming to finish the job and they never called her back. One person said that they would have the manager call and it never happened. I find this company to be very rude and inconsiderate towards our elderly people. And ripping an elderly person off that is on a fixed income is not right. read more

This review pertains to the uber smooth, say anything to get a commission , salesman named Kenneth Roberts out of the call center in Atlanta, Georgia ( NOT the actual Orkin company and NOT in our state of residence, which is Maine). It's now apparent that the company promotes a culture of having their salespeople lie to customers to get them to sign up NOW NOW NOW! Because he wanted his commission, and the Orkin company wanted a new customer, Kenneth lied to us as he blithely pretended he had the authority to set up the first meet and greet with the technician, who would then complete the first service THE VERY NEXT DAY. Thus my husband and I waited around most of a whole day for our technician to arrive.... Finally, Debbie Silva (a lovely lady from our actual state of residence) called to schedule the actual first appointment....for 4 days later. If Debbie had not been so calming and professional we would look elsewhere for our needs. In reality, Debbie is the person who actually does the scheduling, not the lying liar who just wants his commission or the company who just wants a customer. I don't appreciate being jerked around and wasting whole days because Orkin promotes a culture of dishonesty. I certainly hope the local branch can eradicate this first impression! read more

Do not use this business. In fact I am not even sure it is open anymore. They do not answer their phones and do not reply to voice mails that you are requested to leave because nobody is ever there. I sent my check for services to the office in early January. They have not cashed the check and now I receive constant harassment from Orkin that I have not paid. I have called the 800 number multiple times and even they can't get a response from the Portland office. I wonder if they are even applying the treatments to my house. Go elsewhere read more

Do not use Orkin especially in Portland, Maine. I have had a terrible experience just trying to get an appointment convenient for me. They don't answer their phones, voicemails, or emails. I had a regional manager schedule an appointment convenient for me and 1/2 before they were to show up they cancelled. They texted another date that was not convenient for me so I called and I have spoken several times explaining my concerns about booking an appointment and still no luck. I ultimately cancelled their service and went with someone else and yet they still keep texting me that they are coming on a date that I never agreed to. They showed up yesterday after I told them I wanted to cancel their service and was not going to be there. I have never been so frustrated. I spoke to a supervisor yesterday who apologized and said he would delete my account and credit card and then today I get another text stating they are coming next week. Tried to set up service for our new house. First appointment was a no show. They give a two hour window, I waited and called to be told the technician "forgot". They gave me a small discount and rescheduled. The technicans that came out were kind and knowledgeable. 1 month later we have an ant problem. Call to set up service they confirm twice for Saturday 12pm-2pm. Wait around on a gorgeous day for them...they don't show up again. Because it's Saturday their offices are closed (why are technicians working if offices are closed). Call the corporate customer service line and they have no way to get in touch just can leave a message. Not worth the money, they don't value customer's time. Will be calling to cancel and get a refund once their offices reopen. Would not recommend. read more

Now 3 days later, I still have not had a return call AND can not get through their phone line to speak to customer service. We had a flea breakout in our house and had to move into my parent's place until the little bastards were killed. I called Orkin and was told that they would be out the next day. I live on an island so I was very happy to hear this, though I did know that they service where we live. The next day, no one showed up. I called and was told that they weren't coming for two and a half weeks! They never called me to say this! In the end, I called Sterling Insect Control and they were happy to make things happen. I should have called them first I guess! The fact is that I never once received a call from Orkin saying that "No, after all, they can't come" They just dropped the ball and let me think that they were still on their way. I will never use them and will let everyone know how we were treated. read more

First the national call center (although I dialed the local number) apparently doesn't have access to the local schedules, but they don't tell you that, they schedule anyway. So the local office had to call me and tell me I could not have the appt I was given but instead would be five days out. Fine. Then the appointment comes and goes and no one calls or shows. I call and am told that the technician said he called me and no one answered (complete lie) and he rang the bell and no one answered (another complete lie). They fail to apologize for the inconvenience and unprofessionalism, and instead tell me that they can have someone out a week from today. That is totally unacceptable, I say, and she says they are short-staffed and are scheduling their technicians for 15-16 appointments a day. No wonder my guy lied and skipped my appointment. I will NEVER do business with Orkin and suggest you do the same. read more

This is not the first negative review I have been compelled to write. I have been a customer for a good twenty years and have had many unsatisfactory experiences. I have four accounts, with four different dwellings. I received a demand letter for payment which I thought I had paid. Turned out the payment was credited to the incorrect account. Not a big deal. I asked to have the payment posted to the correct account . The person I spoke to and who sent me the letter was Michelle Mckenzie.. Michelle said she would check with her boss and call me back on Monday. It was Friday when I called. Today is Wednesday and I have not heard a word. I started calling the office at 9 a.m. Left several voice mails, waited on hold for over an hour, called the corporate office 3 times. Corporate said they would "send a message" and have someone call me right away. Never happen. This is the kind of service I have experienced over the years. Calls not returned, Incorrect billing, tecks going to wrong locations. I cannot recommend their services. read more

Had an appointment schedule almost a month out and the day of service no one shows. When I called I was told they would have to reschedule me for another 3 weeks out because they are busy. If this review was based on the killing of our ants it would be 5 stars. The gentlemen that have come to our house have always been helpful and friendly. My complaint is about their complaint resolution process. We have been receiving treatment for carpenter ants, but the bill says bed bugs. Do they both cost the same? Can't even get anyone to say. What if I went to sell and had to prove treatment? My husband requested that the bill be updated. One quarter later it still wasn't done so I called. I asked for a manager but the very helpful lady wasn't able to make that happen but at least told me why my bill was wrong. She said she would have someone call me back to discuss and fix because she couldn't. Crickets. So I called again several days later and reexplained. I was told that the new manager was at a training or something and no one knew she or he was gone. Seriously? There's no manager for these people to go to for days on end? She was to have a manager call me. Well the weekend went by and all of Monday. No call. Nothing. Mind you I lodged a formal complaint during the first call. I called back tonight and was given to the 'retention department' to talk me out of canceling my service. Knowing there's a department devoted to that certainly didn't help change my mind. Clearly they need it because they don't believe in complaint resolution. Abysmal customer service. I hope that new manager reads this so they know what they are up against!! read more

We have been getting every-other month service for around 4 years, and they lost our business, as the quality has plummeted in recent months. I had a service tech come out and not finish the work, so I called the office and asked for someone to come out and finish it. They have been giving me the runaround for 2 weeks and counting. I called to cancel my account and they were indifferent. There are other things that have been sources of irritation over the years including that there is no direct line to contact the office, their answering machine is often broken, they do not notify clients before canceling service, and they took 3 years to correct my phone number on the account, which meant for that amount of time I never got notice that they were coming to my residence, and often missed them. read more

If I could find another company to do summer treatments only I would change in a heartbeat. I got an email from Orkin saying they would be here today, but when I called to ask what time, I had to hold for about 10 minutes, and then a man told me he had no record of my appointment. I called another number, the Orkin HQ in Atlanta, although I did not know I was calling Atlanta, because it was a Maine number, and I was given the phone number for Bangor, which is the office where most of our techs come from, and I called Bangor, and Portland picked up and disconnected me. This is a very unprofessional outfit. Some of the techs are good, but the organization and policies are horrible! So now I have no idea of when I can get an appointment, and no way of contacting anyone without a disconnect, AND THE SERVICE COSTS ALMOST $90.00 PER MONTH! read more

We had Justin do the initial inspection. He was very professional. We then had Brian Rogers do the initial treatment. He gave up his Sunday, because I never received a call that he was coming. He was professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable about Orkin. He did the inspection yesterday, and all was good. Now we can return the house to normal. Great company to work with, the office was very professional and tried their best to accommodate us. Thank you, Brian and Orkin, for a job well done. read more

He has never returned a call and due to that and the seemingly ever changing tech coming to my home, I am so done with Orkin. Isaac T is the best bug guy out there. He's friendly and smart, obviously knows what he's doing, he gets the job done. And he's cute. I'd give him my number but that would be unprofessional of me. Really really cute though. 10/10. And he's funny. His girlfriend must feel super lucky. It's like when you order a pizza and you don't expect anything out of the ordinary and then you open the door and the pizza guy is so cute he makes you stutter and look like an idiot bc you're just blown away. Isaac is the cute pizza guy. Not only is he cute but he does his job so well, probably should mention that more so than being cute. That's just a bonus really. Anyways back to the important stuff, I had lil beetles in my kitchen and dining room, and he took care of them in no time, plus preventative stuff for the springtime, so I know I'm set. Next time I see even a single bug I'm calling and asking specifically for Isaac, NOT because I want to hit on him, DEFINITELY because he is the best bug guy. read more
