Had service for with Orkin 4 years. Spraying every other month. For the amount of money i have paid, I should not have spiders, ants & bugs, yet I do. Now that I cancelled their service, they tell me I must give them a 30 day notice and will have to pay next months service, even tho it's cancelled. DO NOT SIGN THEIR CONTRACT. Misleading instructions for cancelling service and never responded to numerous messages to get appointments cancelled. I hired Orkin to come out and handle a very large wasp nest that had infiltrated my soffit over the summer. Being it was 20' in the air and in the attic, I knew I could not handle this one myself. The call center took the information over the weekend and this outlet was prompt in scheduling a free visit to assess the situation. I was scheduled to have the nest treated a couple days later. The technician was proactive in contacting me for an earlier appointment opportunity that day - a big plus. The application was completed thoroughly and the field supervisor checked in to make sure I was happy. The nest was completely dead within three days. Pluses: - Friendly and attentive personnel from call center and branch. - Prompt and proactive communication. - Thorough with application and setting proper expectation for results. - Listened to my concerns and addressed them completely. Minuses: - I asked for the nest to be removed, but that is being left to me to complete Overall impression: Orkin was courteous, prompt and fair in pricing. I received the results that were promised from the application and they emphasized that I should call for free retreatment if there were any issues at all. I would use them again. So I signed up for a basic service where they come every other month to spray for insects and mice. After the first session I was asked by the technician if it was ok if he sent a "inspector" to check over his work, I said that was fine. When the "inspector" showed up all he was interested in was selling me additional services, I understand he probably gets commission so I understand. However he kept trying to push this mosquito service on me, after decline it several times he left. About a month later a guy shows up at my front door and says I'm here to do the mosquito service, I told him I never signed up for it and asked can you cancel this for me I don't want it, or do I have to call? He said no, no I'll take care of it and left. So you can imagine my surprise when 2 months later I receive a bill for $417.75 for mosquito service. When I called about it of course no one could help me with this. I will never use Orkin again or recommend it to my friends and family. Thought I would be "upgrading" by enlisting Orkin's help to manage wasps, bees, and other pests. Downgrade would be a better term. Over the span of one year - I have had 4-5 different "experts" come to my home , stating they are now the new representative for my home. Leads one to think they have a high turnover rate. Did not really feel comfortable with a new person walking through my home every other month when they had assured me only one expert would be dealing with my home. This "expert" would proceed to spend around 5-10 minutes maximum to spray the inside of my home - and maybe another 5-10 minutes more spraying the exterior. Considering the size of my house and their lack of knowledge of my home - since there was a new rep every month - this seemed quite inadequate. Furthermore, the quality of their spray was highly ineffective. Days following their treatment, I would see multiple bees/wasps flying around my home. So either they weren't finding the nest, or their spray wasn't equipped to handle these pests. Pest control companies I have used in the past would come out and spray again if their treatment was ineffective. Orkin would not even do this. They would just blame "Mother Nature." Overall, very unhappy with the money I have spent for pest control this year. Completely ineffective. Will be looking for a new company now. Suggestions welcome!! read more

Awful customer service. They tell you they are coming on a given day but never say when. Sometimes they don't show up at all. If you are not home, they "do the outside" and charge full price. The actual service person is great but the office is disorganized and not interested in responding to customer needs. read more

I get the same feeling I get dealing with Comcast, and sneaky used care salesman, when I called Orkin. Naturally, as intended, I had a pest problem and was in a panic about it, so I called the only advertised name I could remember. Orkin! My pest issue was not extensive. I had flies, and at times a lot of them, but not to the point I felt I needed to have monthly visits from the Orkin Man. They tried to scare me into thinking that I needed their monthly service contract, then their quarterly one, and finally the guy on the line told me they could do a single visit, but it would be almost $300, and he then told me that one visit wouldn't be enough to cure the problem. Their treatment of insects was not effective from the start. The biggest problem I have is silverfish. When their tech came out I described the problem and he told me he was going to treat the perimeter and inside the house and garage. When it was time to pay and schedule, I said I would call for the follow up appointment. He told me that if I got on their service plan it would lock the price in, if I did't, the price could be higher when I called back. So I did. For the entire time I was with them, the price went up twice, without any notification. They have your credit card number and send the receipt by email, all you do is sign the tech's phone with your finger. You do not see an invoice. Every time it went up, there was a statement in small print up in the corner saying the price went up, no pre notification of any kind. So much for locking in a price. As time went on, I noticed the tech (and any fill in techs that might have come) never walked around the house again. So I'm not sure how the perimeter was being treated. Every visit I repeated how the silverfish were a problem. The tech seemed surprised. When I was telling people of my problem and how I thought the silverfish were in the attic, and that I was going to get a new exterminator, they told me my tech should be doing this. They also said he should know that and should have been treating the attic from the time I mentioned it. So I called and made an appointment to have someone come out and treat the attic. In the meantime I got an email survey from Orkin. I wrote how I was disappointed I was in the overall service, or lack of, and the minimal success of pest control. I very soon got a call from the office and I got to go over the situation. A second appointment was made for two weeks after the first for an additional silverfish treatment. It was my tech who came and acted surprised he was going into the attic. He barely pumped and powder into the attic on the second visit, never went into the attic either time, and the attic is the entire length of the house. Not to my surprise, the silverfish were back a couple months later. On my next scheduled visit I asked for more of that powder to be sprayed. A new tech showed up and said I have a new tech, but he was sick, so he was filling in. He brought something to shoot the silverfish powder, but it was a fraction of the size of what was brought on previous visits. Didn't work, big surprise, they were never gone. It's sad when your dog doesn't even chase or sniff them anymore because she's used to them. read more
