We've been coming here for years. This is the last time. The only reason we put up with the 30+ minute wait, loud atmosphere and the very loud clanking coming from the kitchen is because of their signature omelette. My husband loves it. The last time we were here they didn't put any cheese in it and barely any fillings so this time we made sure to let the waitress know so it wouldn't happen again. After waiting another 20 minutes for the omelette no cheese! Had to waive down the waitress whose resolve was to bring us a plate with two slices of cheese on it. I guess after realizing how stupid that was she took it back and they rebaked it. I requested the owner who offered to make a new one. Another 20 minutes? We went to The Original Pancake House with a party of 6. One of us ordered a Greek omelette with feta cheese. We started to eat the toast, then took a bite of the omelette. The feta cheese was rancid. They took the omelette back and charged us for the toast. It was so petty, they sent over the owner and he said, you ate the toast so we are charging you. To get out of the mall where we had just picked up our new iPhones, we decided to stay close and stopped at the Original Pancake House, which we hadn't eaten at in at least five years. I ordered the dish I almost always order there, which is the Eggs Michael, which is their benedict with a mushroom sherry sauce. I recall it having a fresher flavor to the sauce than what came out which had canned mushrooms. Also, I asked the server for the potato pancakes because I remember this dish coming with them in the first place -- but apparently, they no longer do. She nodded and said OK, you can have those. When the food came out, she brought regular pancakes. She apologized because she said she didn't hear me correctly, but I didn't want to wait another 10 minutes for pancakes to come out, so I took these instead of the regular ones. I didn't really like them. They were starchy, which I guess is what a pancake is supposed to taste like, but I didn't love these. Rachel got some chicken crepe thing, it looked nasty, like a bad 70s Chicken A La King thing you'd seen in a vintage women's magazine made with Campbell's Soup. The lunch menu is actually more constrained than what I thought they would have. They don't even have burgers here. They seem to have regular sandwiches like turkey club sandwiches, BLTs, etc. I didn't see anything that looked like it could be a roast beef or anything like that, so I ordered breakfast. This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. The food is always served with a smile, and is consistently prepared perfectly. This has become one of our favorite places to lunch. Nothing fancy, just good food done right. Now, during the holiday season, they also do custom pies. I never heard of Bumbleberry pie. In season, they are very busy on the weekends. We ordered two eggs and hashbrowns and biscuits and gravy. Took about 20 minutes for food to come out. The biscuits and gravy were barely warm. Sent it back. By the time it came back out, a crust had form on top of the gravy from sitting for too long. Also, food was tasteless. Also expensive! Stay away! read more

My fiancé add an eggs Benedict, which cost approximately $11, and we paid as much as 15 in other places We ordered a side of pancakes and a side of toast. I had to extraordinary, which included three pancakes and two eggs with hashbrowns. The hashbrowns were crispy and hot; the eggs were cooked to perfection, as were the pancakes our very fluffy. The coffee was delicious, and I'm not a coffee drinker, we were introduced to the phenomenal strawberry syrup, and I recommend anybody going there to eat to try it. The eggs Benedict was delicious according to my fiancé, the service was remarkable; they were practicing social distancing as there was a wait outside to get in. This place was my mom's favorite to come for an omelette. They are soooooo fluffy I do not know how they do it. They take longer to make so don't order if you are in a hurry. Their pancakes and Apple Betty are very good. I've ordered the huevos rancheros the last 2 visits and they came out different as you can see in my pictures(I'm not talking about the eggs!). This is the Boca Raton Glades Road restaurant and it's my first visit to this particular location. We had a particularly on the ball server who anticipated our needs in advance and was really pleasant and fast. I had an omelette, not pictured...and my mom had steak and eggs Benedict. She said that her steak was cooked perfectly and I must say that my omelette was great as well. So I have been here quite a few times. When I first started going it was soo yummy! They give such big portions. Really fresh tasting and impossible to leave hungry. I very much enjoyed it here. Then..I don't know what happened but they really went downhill. Last time I was here, was with a medium size group, several of whom warned me it was not what it once was. I ignored all warnings because I could not imagine this place not being good. It was once my favorite breakfast place around here. But alas I should have heeded the advice. They were pretty bad. It was not just the food. It was the service and the atmosphere. It seemed like an entirely different place. So we all ordered and though I cannot remember what everyone had, I know I got pancakes and one person got their Potato Pancakes and we basically all got breakfast. Nobody was happy with their food. Nothing tasted that good. I remember in particular the potato pancakes were really not good. And the service..I really was bewildered by how DIFFERENT everything was. It used to have a sunny atmosphere with huge crowds of people and looked nice too. The food also used to be great. They had this one special..the apple pancake platter though I think it was called something else. Most gigantic breakfast platter of anything I have ever sen anywhere, beautiful presentation and darned yummy too. But during this visit everything was very different. This time it didn't seem all that clean and the servers were mostly kids and they seemed disinterested. It was hard to get their attention and one or two people had to send their food back. I am honestly not sure if any of us finished everything. It was kind of a dismal experience all around. The food here is amazing, best in town. The coffee however is like drinking mud. But the worst about this restaurant is the way I get treated. If I go to Bagel Works around the corner the waitresses greet me with hugs, hellos and go out of their way to make my breakfast fantastic. Here at OPH they make faces at me, never come to see if I am ok or need anything else, never give me a check and never greet me with the exception of two waitresses. I come out feeling like crap. I have been coming to this restaurant for years back when it was Wilt Chamberlains. I have memories of my now deceased mom here. I love the food and it is local. They don't treat everyone like they do me. I am polite and always say thank you. I am friendly and give the only tip I can afford. Original pancake House has amazing breakfast. My favorite thing on the menu is their Swedish pancakes which are very thin. Crêpe like pancakes served with lingonberries. They are light and airy with crispy edges and oh so delicious smothered in butter. It's pretty much my go to there, but haven't eaten at both the Boca and Coral Springs locations for many years. I have tried quite a few of the menu items. Their eggs Benedict is great, and they have a wonderful selection of omelettes and waffles/pancakes. I also enjoyed their blintzes and fresh squeezed orange juice. My husband always gets the sausage gravy, and biscuits which are good but not the best we've ever had, but hey, this is a pancake house not a biscuit and gravy house. Everything else is always fresh, hot and delicious. Their coffee is good too. I have not had lunch there but they do have a really nice looking lunch menu as well. I've been a fan of the Original Pancake House for as long as I can remember and have certain expectations as I go to each of their restaurants. On entering this location, I realize it is a little older than some and has more of the diner feel. The decor is basic booths and very functional. There was a group of very young employees at the host counter and it felt that they were new and uncertain of how to function. An older man was present and I assumed he was the manager, guiding them how to seat me. Once seated, it did take a few minutes for the waitress to appear. The service was very functional but nothing above and beyond the necessary. She was immediately ready for my order with minimal greeting and no discussion. As I walked in knowing what I was having, this worked... today. The restaurant was very quiet at the time so it did feel like the food took a while. I will admit, the food is made to order so with this in mind, it may have been my stomach talking... feed me! When my apple baby (a favorite) arrived, it was streaming hot and covered in the delicious gooey, sugary topping. As always, the taste was sinfully delicious with the fluffy, eggy base, perfectly cooked apples along with the previously mentioned topping. I know this is called the Apple Baby (little brother to the Apple Pancake) but it is plenty. As a matter of fact, it's really two meals for me. Mmmmm, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. After finishing, I needed a box for the remaining to go home for breakfast and it took a few minutes for someone to notice me and my server. Again, service was functional but... OPH is my spot for a blissful breakfast--a pecan Belgian waffle loaded with the nuts, two eggs over easy, bacon, coffee, and fresh orange juice. There's plenty more and plenty of it. There are crowds on the weekend but none during the week, especially if you go before 10 or so. Our server was friendly but flaky and it took a while to flag him down when we were ready to order (although he did put in the order for one of my companion's Dutch Baby when he took the drink order because we requested it start cooking - that thing can take 30 minutes!) But once we ordered, the food came out quickly. The kitchen got our easier meals out with my friend's Dutch Baby and everything was hot and fresh. The bacon was perfectly cooked and the banana brown sugar french toast was pretty good, as was the citrus sauce they provided with it. I do have a grip about the french toast. The center was all bread - no egg. The smaller better cooked pieces of home fries were really good but the larger pieces were too gooey and bland. Overall, good local breakfast choice. read more
