However the ultrasound doctor strongly advised to give birth at a hospital. At the time we didn't understand why or the urge to sway us away from the birthing center. When we told the midwive she immediately tried getting rid of me as a patient. I had to call around different doctor offices trying to be seen at 39 weeks which was impossible to get an appointment. My husband finally bugged the midwife enough for her to tell me to "go to a hospital, lie about having contractions" that she would make a call and have some random doctor that I've never met claim me as his patient for me to be admitted. We were left with no doctor, no help, no answers, told to lie to medical staff. It was completely stressful. No medical facility should ever treat someone like this ! Especially someone who is pregnant . It turns out that OUR midwive was responsible for the death of a baby during labor. 3 months prior to my delivery. Along with a list of previous medical misconduct. In the end we lucked out with a healthy baby, but literally shame on all of you. (One particular comment I will never forget. She said my baby's "mouth was too small" since she was born so early and I would probably have to bottle feed for awhile. I could go on for days). Doris came to my home and got right to business. She wasn't cold and pushy, but calm and to the point. It was just what I needed when I my nerves were high. I'll never forget what Doris said to me either, "There's nothing wrong with this baby except she's confused." (Suck? Why suck on a breast when life is so easy with the fast flow nipples the hospital kindly provided?). She got us breast feeding in about 30 minutes. Being a first time mom, I felt unsure about what is normal and what is not. I thought maybe it was me and that I was not producing so I sought out an LC and found Michaela. Immediately she could tell that he had a tongue and lip tie. She was efficient in her evaluations and practices. More than anything she showed so much care. She would ask for follow up between visits and gave advice and reassurance when I reached out. She worked with me when I had certain issues that would pop up because she wanted to make sure my little man was ok and gaining weight. It was definitely bitter sweet the last visit we had and she said my son was doing great and didn't need to come back. I would recommend her to anyone having lactation concerns.

We discussed positioning and not only did my baby feed for a good long while instead of usual short bursts but he was VERY happy and satisfied afterwards! No tummy aches, just happy coos. We may have also discovered the reason for his snoring before his ENT appointment on the 19th! We will see if it's confirmed at that appointment. I am excited to apply the things I learned today. Her guidance was gentle, encouraging, and easy to understand, which made all the difference. Not too long into our journey as first time parents did we realize we were not enjoying a single second with our newborn, and instead we were pacing the house for endless hours with a screaming/crying baby. I knew something had to be done because my husband and I were at the brink of insanity (not sleeping for two weeks will do that to you). After much research, I found Desiree, and I have never looked back. I have told Desiree countless times she is worth her weight in cool. Prior to hiring Desiree, we had a baby that would not sleep in her bassinet, would only nap if someone was holding her, and wouldn't really eat. I quite literally coined our baby as the "gassiest, most fussy baby," and I remember Desiree telling me, "No you don't, don't worry I got you." She explained her training program and how things would be done and we fully trusted her and her expertise. Within a few days, we already noticed a difference. Our baby was now napping in her bassinet, was eating, smiling, and RARELY crying. Fast forward a few weeks, our baby is fully sleeping through the night, from 7 pm to 7 am. My husband and I can actually have time together to have dinner and watch a show after she goes down, and it has been the best thing for our marriage. At every corner we turned, Desiree was there. Any time I needed her or expressed any sort of concern, she was there to talk me through it and guide us on what worked best for our baby. She is an absolutely incredible human being and we already know we will use her for our next baby. Since we had such a good experience, we decided to hire Desiree for a year so she can be there throughout the different milestones and guide us on what needs to be done.
