I've waited a day to review because I want to be fair. I had read the mixed reviews and as I…read moreconsider reviews of myself and those I sat next to I definitely see why reviews are so mixed because even we received different experiences! So to start I must say that macadamia encrusted salmon was phenomenal and in it alone 5 stars easily! Absolutely delicious! I'm serious! INCREDIBLe in taste - portion - presentation! The bread appetizer is highly critiqued for being a purchased item at an Italian restaurant, but the dipping oils with garlic and roasted pepper never comes with free bread apps that I've seen so again easy five stars!!! I'll add pics - it's impressive! Then, what else to review - it's our 34th wedding anniversary and we're not high maintenance so when we book and we're asked about occasion, but never celebrated I'm ok with that, but why ask then? We don't typically order dessert, but 34 years seemed like we should so we got carrot cake and it was great. With the big portions they serve not necessary, but if you're a dessert person go for it! When we scheduled reservation the restaurant was full, so we booked bar seating and loved the vibe sitting next to locals watching Red Sox play. Everyone was friendly and gave great suggestions for us for remainder of our stay. All of that said I must give the place a five with all those low reviews, but in true transparency what wasn't a five: When we arrived on time for reservation the sweet hostess apologized it would be a little while. We were seated approx 15 min later at the bar that had about 9 seats open, and four bar workers in and out yet 15 minutes would go by before anyone acknowledged us. Yet, one bartender who seemingly was in charge of restaurant alcohol orders was bantering with a male patron and explained him across the way how the chef/owner is done and looking to sale if he can find right buyer. Eventually an Italian speaking bartender gave us menus and apologized she was behind. We eventually ordered drinks and much later lobster ravioli we had heard raves about (but now an hour in and told sold out) but drinks good and we pivoted to Marsala and salmon, but a party of four was brought in to the bar and seated with empty dishes and glasses from previous patrons which seemed odd. Another waitress came by from restaurant and extremely short almost chastising the hostess and another waitress gave me an apologetic look as we both recognized I didn't need to hear that. Food took awhile but we're on vacation and enjoyed the atmosphere. I have zero regrets eating here and loved loved loved my meal, the historic building, sweet bartender (who needed some support or busier as the bar filled fast), and vibe of that bar surrounded by locals, and I'm from Utah only here for a weekend so that says a lot.

Went to Villaggio tonight for our anniversary, and I must say(especially to some of you naysayers),…read morethat it was fabulous. The service, atmosphere, prices, and obviously the food, was excellent. For starters, we split the Caprese salad and French Onion soup; both great. For dinner, my wife got Cod Francese, while I chose an Italian classic- chicken parm. I know what some of you are thinking- - oh come on, it's chicken parm. Take it from an Italian(especially one who has gotten this dish from the last two "Italian" restaurants and has been very disappointed); this was great. The chicken was fried to perfection, the sauce was to die for, and the cheese was absolute perfection. The owner, Chef Jay, took time out from the kitchen to check on us; very nice. We will definitely return, and hopefully with guests. It was a pleasure to dine here

The Shanty is one of those places I don't go to nearly enough and I really need to change that…read more I was specifically craving hand-cut fries and theirs did NOT disappoint. I got the Big Ol' Burger and it was so good. Cooked perfectly, the special sauce was delicious and as you can probably tell from the photo, the fries were exactly what I was looking for. Everything tastes really fresh here. It has that farm-to-table quality, but in a relaxed, laid-back (but still really pretty) setting. We came for lunch and I loved that they had brunch options too. We didn't get any adult beverages but I was very tempted by the entire drink menu, so next time! Our service was also outstanding. Really everything was A+. Definitely a local spot that I need to remember to go to more often.

I found The Shanty on Yelp…read more The moment I opened the door I was greeted, by the owner, with the most upbeat personality and smile! She showed me to my table, brought a carafe of water, and welcomed me in. I was quickly welcomed by Sergio, my server, who shared the special and the soup of the day. Once I ordered my soda I took in the ambiance of the bar, new lights, and the rest of the restaurant. It's not a large building but they make every inch count. Now, the reason you're reading this review- THE FOOD. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The chicken (photo below) was perfectly cooked, topped with hot honey, slaw, pickles, and ranch then placed on a soft brioche bun. The meal was reasonably priced as well at $33 which included tip. I will absolutely be back to the Shanty next time I'm in town.

Went to Dyane's for the first time yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. Was looking for…read moresomething sweet to bring to an event and I found it. Dyane's has so many sweet treats and it's a great place to get the supplies if you want to make your own candy. They have a whole section of molds and melting candy. They also have a wide selection of candy embellishments for your cakes or creations. I purchased a several things and took pictures of more. Chocolate - I got a half lb for $10.00 and had well over 12 pieces to bring to my event. The chocolates were very good and well received. I recommend the white chocolate/ raspberry one. It was different and nice. Cupcakes- I ordered a lemonade cupcake and peach amaretto cupcake, just on a whim to taste their cakes. They use a heavy frosting that I didn't love and the cake was dry. It was the end of the day, so perhaps they had been sitting out all day but for a first time buyer, that's not good. I love cupcakes and have pretty high standards and I will not be ordering cupcakes from Dyane's. Candy - if you are looking for a place to get original homemade treats for an Easter Basket. Come to Dyane's. They have so many cute options and relevantly affordable. I even saw bunny cookies in a stick. So cute. Staff- the staff here is wonderful. Very personable and friendly. They asked if it was first time, they recommended favorites and they made the experience a pleasant one. That is actually why I am giving it 4 stars instead of 3.
