We moved away, from the Cape 5 years ago and we have missed Lamberts more than we realized. Bagels and coffee in the morning. Delicious soups and sandwiches for lunch, and amazing offerings for dinner! The staff is always friendly and we appreciate them all. Hopefully we won't take so long to get back to the Cape. I've been here a few times. Breakfast sandwich is ok..it's priced right at least! ($3). There is a deli too, but I haven't eaten there. Today I got a scoop of homemade Mac n cheese which was reminiscent of Kraft Dinner, only better! That's to say I enjoyed it! I also had a lemon blueberry cookie (2 for $4) and it was delectable! Wow this place packs a punch and makes the most of a smaller space for prepared food and market food in a small space. Probably a dozen or soup options, prepared sandwiches, salad bar and hot food options so massive that you will have left overs for days or need to share with a family of four. Between the deli counter, salad bar, soups, hot food buffet, and fresh produce, Lambert's has something to offer for everyone. It also looks like a great spot to do some daily shopping. The store was immaculately clean and the presentation of their products was inviting. We found the sandwich prices to be rather pricey but hearty. Every time I eat from the prepared food bar, I get food poisoning. It's happened about five times over the past two years. The chicken has always dry and chewy and old or undercooked. Either way it is not well preserved/heated. read more

I used to go often and then started to notice the decline in quality and cleanliness. My experience today will be the last time I go. I tried to overlook the cleanliness issue beca use I was in a hurry and just needed a few things. I bought chocolate covered ice cream bars. got home and opened one. it had long ago melted into the bottom of the wrap and then been refrozen. Very inconsistent. I've gone here quite a few times and I just don't know if I'm going to be disappointed or not. Last time I got an Italian sandwich it was full of meat, this time, just one slice of each "supreme" meat even with its higher price tag. They also need some sort of freshness to the bread please you're selling $15 sandwiches, even if you use rolls out of the bag, mine was al least 3-4 days old, . I also got the Mac and cheese because the last time it was gooey and delicious and this time it was just watery runny cheese noodles that poured across the rest of the meal. A lot of locals I work with are bummed "that place used to be way better" . The staff are really nice and it's a clean store and fairly priced for Cape Cod. The whole reason I wrote this review is because I want this place to be good so badly because it can be, it's just disappointing to spend money on food for the next day or two at work and it not be what you expected. I spent $42 on the meal and sandwich. The short ribs are very good. My co worker said the chicken Cesar wrap was good as well. Heard all about lamberts and now it's kind like they have a "that'll work" mentality and are caring about margins instead of the original quality products. read more

I LUV LUV LUV this little Fruit & Veggie Stand, Deli, & Grocery store. It's a great location off W Main Street behind 7-11. It's wonderfully charming. The exterior resembles a big old Barn. They sell beer & wine & a great selection of fresh fruit, herbs, & veggies. They also have wonderful baked goods & desserts, a huge selection of prepared meals, a large varied salad bar & 7+ delicious homemade soups everyday. It's open 7 days a week but closes around 7 pm ish. I stop at this place regularly for fabulous made to order sandwiches at the Deli, their soups, & their prepared meals. During the different Seasons, you can buy pumpkins, & Christmas trees which is a big bonus! This place can't be beat! A BIG shout out to Bert at the Deli!!! He is a bonafide Star there! He is *Absolutely FANTASTIC*: Funny, charming, helpful, friendly, & kind. Just love him! The rest of the staff is equally as lovely. A BIG THUMBS UP! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

Today I stopped to get a sandwich a Lamberts, while I know they are way over priced they usually have good food. NOT TODAY. I purchased a $12 tuna sandwich and they mad the sandwich with the butt (end piece) of the loaf of white bread. Seriously if you charge $12 for a sandwich don't make it with the dry end piece you wouldn't even feed a stray dog. Nothing worse than getting to work with lunch and finding out it sucks. I'm out on Lamberts: prices have skyrocketed since late July 2021 & quality is gone!! I'd rather spend a bit more $$ on take out from a good local restaurant and get quality. The $11 Italian sub is now $14 and they use a seeded fluffy soft crust roll, no longer the lightly crusty & chewy sub roll. Since there was no way I was going to pay $14 for an Italian sub, no matter the quality of the cold cuts when compared to Subway. Had a turkey with Vermont cheddar, onion, guac and tomato sub today and with the new soft crust sub roll. It was 80% bread with one slice of cheese, two slices of turkey, thin shmear of guac you can barely taste + onions for $11. Tourists will pay the outrageous prices now and the owners will regret it come November when their local customers are gone. This place is a ripoff. Even the prepared hot food is not the same quality as it was six months ago and is higher priced. Sad. read more

I would say to my surprise Lamberts Rainbow Fruit Italian sub is by far one of the best in the state , made and prepared fresh right in front of you , I believe they beat the chain jersey mikes with slicing their meat fresh to order. Fresh rolls and plenty of different kinds to choose from , veggies sliced and not just a thrown on relish of different veggies, which I prefer my veggies sliced . Just amazing flavor and I had them made it on a fresh French roll. Service is slow but it's ok seem to me like a very laid back store. The rest of the store is great though tons of fresh prepared foods from chicken to meatballs, meatloafs , oven roasted potatoes, just tons of food . If you didn't want to wait for a fresh prepared sandwich they have those premade too. Bottom line I'm a Italian sub guy and they have one of, if not the best sub in the state of Massachusetts I have had will always stop if driving by ! read more

As a local here for 20+ years, trust me when I say everything is AMAZING. The hot foods, the subs, the salad bar, the produce, the seasonal items (Christmas trees, flowers etc). No better place to get an Italian sub. SERIOUSLY! I also really enjoy their hot foods. The grilled chicken breast comes in handy and the cauliflower is super tasty. They have a nice selection of wines too which is always nice. For produce they are definitely a little pricy but always good quality. As an out of towner married to a native, I'm so grateful for a place like Lambert's being SO close to my in-laws! The premise here is great and I'm sure this place is a gold mine. When I say premise it's basically a produce market but they have a very nice salad bar, a soup bar with like 8 or 9 choices, deli with board head subs, and a ton of other prepared foods as well as baked goods. All of that sounds great but there are some major flaws. So the salad bar is great but I have a suspicion that the spinach and greens and lettuce aren't thoroughly washed. Admittedly I have that fear about a lot of places but with a high volume salad bar it's more of an apparent issue. Also they weigh the salad to determine price so be careful or you could be paying $15 for a salad for lunch if you add to many heavy ingredients. Doesn't make a lot of sense because weight of food doesn't translate into value necessarily. Also just the idea of a salad bar sitting there all day long, I feel like if I'm not in there by 1-2 pm forget it. Of course the price drops after 4 because it's been sitting out all day, I wonder if the leftovers are then put out the next day. The deli is decent, it's boars head, but let me tell you the girls working the deli are rude as hell at least one chunky brunette anyways. Overall service at lamberts is very poor and disorganized. Don't expect well trained restaurant service, it's just a produce market and the employees treat it as such. The best person is the older Asian woman who might actually own the joint, she is on the ball for sure. Hey I know it's hard to find good help but it must be said. So after 4 they drop the prices of sandwiches but it's mainly because the pre cut cold cuts have been sitting around all day and they wanna get rid of it. Ok fair enough, I get that part but it seems the workers also put less effort in at that point. Like hey it's less money now so I don't give a crap. The soup is ok, very pricey, and seems to be made of leftovers from unsold food. That's my hunch. I'm all for not wasting food but to then pass it off as fresh and sell it at high prices is disingenuous. I think their kale soup is really good but overall their soups lack flavor, so add a bit of hot sauce and a touch of salt & pepper to bring out some flavor. Visiting the Cape on vacation, we like to stop here to stock up on lunch foods. They generally have good prepared food, produce and specialty products. We were very disappointed in the service on this visit. We went fairly early in the morning (10:00 ish) and the employee behind the counter was more focused on his holiday plans with another employee and messed up our order three times. I grew up near Lambert's in Centerville, and go there almost every time I'm back in town. It's got a great fruit selection for sure, and I'm a fan of the meatball subs. It falls a little short of that fifth star, though. The place is pretty small, and had specialty items - higher end snack/hors d'oevres stuff, and some decent cheeses, but I'm not wild about the breads and the selection is a little thin. For example, I didn't find any crackers that turned me on to go with the cheese. I am in love with the fresh hermits at the check-out counter, and the there's a serviceable beverage selection (no alcohol, this is Massachusetts, after all!). So bottom line, it's the best place around for sure, but it could be a little bit better. I'm a fan, but not without reservation. read more

Wow! Honestly wow. We stopped in at this store to grab a few green peppers for dinner and after shopping here I forsee myself coming back a lot. The produce in the store is well stocked, fresh and tantalizing. The best part wasn't the amazing fruits and vegetables, but the prepared foods that they had all throughout the store. This store didn't just have a small selection of hot prepared foods, but a wall! If I wasn't in a hurry to get home I would have probably spent a good half hour staring at the selection. I have been to LAMBERTS probably a dozen times and EVERY time I leave I say that will be the last visit. This is a great market product wise, but the front end is a joke. My latest visit found me waiting in a line of five people for several minutes when the guy who was near the register we were waiting at (white hair and beard) just walked away. NO ONE told us the register was closed. We all just stood there looking at each other. We get in the second line which is now about fifteen deep and a large guy walks by and yells into the back "jeez you're gonna have TA open again!" And just walks off. So the second cashier opens up, people fumble into lines. I stay with the original, and she's about the worst cashier I've ever seen. She counted out the change twice. Took each and every coin from her drawer like she was Mister Magoo and then spent about three minutes trying to open a coin roll of pennies. I honestly expected an MTV camera crew to pop out and surprise us that we were on some wacky Candid Camera show. The service was THAT bad. So quality or not, it's not worth it. Fancys Market is open in nearby Osterville and WHOLE FOODS is now in Hyannis so I'll never visit this mess again. read more
