Wow! Honestly wow. We stopped in at this store to grab a few green peppers for dinner and after shopping here I forsee myself coming back a lot. The produce in the store is well stocked, fresh and tantalizing. The best part wasn't the amazing fruits and vegetables, but the prepared foods that they had all throughout the store. This store didn't just have a small selection of hot prepared foods, but a wall! If I wasn't in a hurry to get home I would have probably spent a good half hour staring at the selection. I have been to LAMBERTS probably a dozen times and EVERY time I leave I say that will be the last visit. This is a great market product wise, but the front end is a joke. My latest visit found me waiting in a line of five people for several minutes when the guy who was near the register we were waiting at (white hair and beard) just walked away. NO ONE told us the register was closed. We all just stood there looking at each other. We get in the second line which is now about fifteen deep and a large guy walks by and yells into the back "jeez you're gonna have TA open again!" And just walks off. So the second cashier opens up, people fumble into lines. I stay with the original, and she's about the worst cashier I've ever seen. She counted out the change twice. Took each and every coin from her drawer like she was Mister Magoo and then spent about three minutes trying to open a coin roll of pennies. I honestly expected an MTV camera crew to pop out and surprise us that we were on some wacky Candid Camera show. The service was THAT bad. So quality or not, it's not worth it. Fancys Market is open in nearby Osterville and WHOLE FOODS is now in Hyannis so I'll never visit this mess again. read more

These people have a heck of a nerve charging $11 for an Italian sub....and it's worth it. They stuff it with fresh-cut, high quality cold cuts and fresh veggies. Also, I think their sub roles come from the Golden Triangle via Air America because, hands down, it's the best sub role I have ever had. Crusty, but really soft and gooey in the middle. Absolutely great. If you don't mind paying a little extra, this place is phenomenal. read more

Copied and pasted here are two wildly different responses to the review I posted earlier this month. I'm guessing there must have been at least two customer complaints, because the angrier response has statements in it that are not accurate to our experience. We stand by what we said. "Owner Matthew L. Owner 1/22/2020 The interaction that happened at our store was with a woman, so I'm not sure who Mike H is. The tall man you mention is the owner, not the female manager you spoke to. If you are a regular I'm not sure how you wouldn't know that. I'm there 7 days a week. Our salad bar is priced less then Stop & Shop and Whole Foods, with a much larger selection. The hot foods are offered with many pricing options so you can spend as little or as much as you want. We also have been using the same cookie recipe since we started serving them years ago. We have not changed the ingredients or the size. As for the interaction with my employee that you mentioned, this happened in the employee area and you said yourself to the manager that you spoke to that you did not hear what was said. You just didn't like the look I gave the employee. You pulled a manager aside during our busiest part of the day to loudly complain about the way an employee was being treated. It was you who caused a scene and embarrassed the employee. The discussion between the employee and myself was private and you wanted to make it public, even though you had no idea what the conversation was about. Had a Gobbler Sandwich on Friday. Roll was fresh, Turkey, Cranberry sauce and stuffing was just great. Perfect Gobbler. Will be back!!!!

the best Salad bar on the Cape. At times there are 10 different soups. The Chili is the best I have ever had. Award winning for sure. Popular with subs and sandwiches which are generously filled. There is a huge section of prepared foods. Even 2 typed of lasagne and 2 types of meatballs. homemade pies. large brownies all kinds if salads and sides. Good wine. The vegetables and fruit are non gmo and pesticide free. There are picnic tables for you to sit outside. The people are friendly. This place is awesome. read more

This place USED TO be my fav lunch spot daily! Bought food the other day, many of which were dated improperly. When I got home there were multi spores of white & green MOLD... not just a few spores either... it just continued as I opened up the product more. I love this place. The salad bar and the brownies are enough reason to come to Lambert's. If you are heading to the beach, this place is a wonderful alternative to Whole Foods. More affordable and wonderfully local, Lambert's is a great stop for grocery staples and grab and go. read more

This place looks impressive when you walk in but the prepared foods in the back weren't edible. We bought two different chicken dishes that looked delicious but we ended up throwing them both away because the chicken was dipped in a flavorless egg batter and the chicken itself was extremely tough. Just awful! Thank God we bought coffee ice-cream to save the day. We won't be back. There's nothing worse than food that looks good but tastes awful and you know they know but they don't care. read more

Went here today for the salad bar and loved it! Everything was fresh and it was only 4.99lb which may have been a special but still made me happy! Also picked up some cute Christmas tree cookies for the kids which they loved. Walked by the hot food section and it looked amazing I'll definitely have to try it sometime and update my review :) read more

Everyone who works there seems disinterested. I had a piece of fish in the car and it took 20 mins for the guy at the take out food to get to me and while the line behind me grew to 6 more customers, NO ONE called for help. And the guy saw them but didn't hurry any faster. At the register, the high school kid was telling the lady all about his classes. It took me 40 minutes to get back to the car with my head of broccoli. I have also been there at 9 am looking for lunch and NOTHING was ready to go. Place is barely open. How can anyone run a business like that? It has So much potential. read more

This is one of my favorite lunch break hangouts! The salad bar is always well stocked with all sorts of things. Also if you are sick or have a cold their soup always makes you feel better. I really enjoy going on my lunch break and heading here with a friend for a quick salad or sandwich or even soup. All are amazing and well priced. Their tables outside are convenient and a nice place to eat. I only wish they had a better energy drink selection like whole foods. but that's just nit picking. read more

I would give Lambert's five stars but they really need to work on their customer service. I go here about three times a week. It baffles me that the people at the registers barely say hello to you. I always say hello when I walk up and the workers just seem like they'd rather be anywhere else but there. Never seen a smile on any of their faces. The salad bar is phenomenal, always fresh. Soups are great. My husband likes the sandwiches. Not too impressed with the prepared foods, had lasagna once and it lacked flavor so I haven't tried a lot of other things. read more

As another customer said, every time I go in I say I'll never be back. They have a gigantic fly problem. In any market you expect some critters to get in, and I am anything but squeamish. But every peice of fruit is covered in dozens of fruit flies and house flies. Each. It's disconcerting. I shop there on occasion to grab the odd veg i forgot at the store but only for the family I work for. I won't eat anything there. Oh, and I bought rolls today when I stopped in, they expired yesterday. read more

This store has TONS of premade food and everything looks so good! Its a really cute store and reasonable prices. Soups and dinners. Even a salad bar. I was a bit grossed out when i was in the middle of making my salad and noticed that the ceiling was leaking EVERYWHERE all over the salad bar. Not sure how they kept it open with that condition. We did just get snow but seems unsanitary. read more

I've been shopping at Lamberts for years and the Centerville location is by FAR the WORST. Customer service is horrible. My most recent trip I spent over $30. I had purchased 2 cannolis that were spoiled. The filling tasted like like sour milk, I nearly vomited. I called the store to let them know. I didn't ask for my money back or scream and yell. I simply explained that they were bad and to check the rest in the case so others didn't buy them. The response was "yea, whatever" followed by hanging up on me. I will not be shopping here. I will be spending my money at places like Fancy's or Peterson's. Where the quality is good and the customer service never falters. read more

The store has quality products and the BEST salad bar on the Cape but they do not TARE out the container weight (remove) at the prepared food counter - that is illegal. I spoke with the Owner (Matt) and was told that he was aware of the situation but was having a hard time getting his staff to "tare out" (remove) the container weight. That's a ridiculous excuse as every supermarket does it for every transaction. Also, they have a scale that isn't in view of the customer and that's another illegal issue. I was willing to give Matt the benefit of the doubt as I tried to get this corrected and nothing was done; shame on him. At $11.99/lb. or more, container weight not only adds up for each customer but it becomes a huge windfall for Lamberts by the end of the year - it's not only WRONG but it's also ILLEGAL. I usually LOVE this place! They have the best salad bar in the area by far. But recently I went in during their busy lunch hour. I made a salad and realized the olive oil was empty. I walked to the deli and asked for more. The son of the owner told me to go wait in the check out line (about 6 people deep) and ask the check out guy for the olive oil. You cant get it for me why??? My father ordered a meatball sub from the hot bar and it was cold in the middle, and had a couple pieces of chicken in it. It made me question the cleanliness of the kitchen if different meats are being accidentally mixed together. Yuck. I think I will look for a new lunch time spot. It's not a good time for Lambert's to start slacking when whole foods just opened around the corner. read more

I used to be a regular and still drive by daily to/from work. I have seen probably more than some other customers because I used to go there so often. I just got so tired of the drama. Re: some concerns in other reviews I can tell you that I miss the soups, the chowders (clam and corn) are great and the ONLY soups not made in-house. They do not use leftover anything in the soups. As for the salad bar, it is refridgerated and I never saw any issues with employees handling it. The only problem is the same problem every salad bar has - customers with bad manners and gross habits. I can't comment on poor quality items reviewers have had but I can say that you haven't experienced the real Lambert's ambiance until you've been there when the owners are verbally abusing staff, accusing them of stealing, having the nerve to ask for a bathroom break, or the two of them arguing and shouting at each other, all in front of customers. That's why I can't go there anymore. Those two shouldn't be anywhere near customers, as someone already pointed out. There is good news: the Lamberts in Sandwich is owned by Matt Lambert's brother and, when I was last there, continued to be everything we wished the Centerville market could be. read more

Some of the produce and groceries are a bit overpriced but the Sandwiches are outstanding and reasonably priced. I reccomend the Turkey Gobbler if you like Thanksgiving type Sandwiches. They use good deli meats and cheeses and a nice chewy roll. The soups are pretty good too. I would never do any grocery shopping here but I do stop in for a Sandwich once in a while. read more

I was in on March 17th and witnessed an employee grouping bunches of scallions while holding the twisty tie in his mouth. He then used the twisty tie from his mouth to tie around the bunch. He then placed the scallions down with all of the others. Yuck. I think the staff need a refresher on proper food handling! Otherwise, I love the presentation of food and varieties offered. However, I'm a bit hesitant to revisit. read more

** FOOD HANDLER FAIL ** Used to like it ok, prefer the Dorchester location. Not a great salad bar, compared to Dorch. Today I was gonna try the salad bar, as they were just loading in freshly boiled eggs. But then I lost my appetite: I witnessed staff [standing right next to me] replenishing the self-serve salad bar. Dude with raggy long ponytail and NO gloves on, grabbed a handful of sprouts from the packaging and placed them by bare hand into the salad bar container. Then he took the tongs for the sliced onions and placed them with the sprouts. But wait, there's more. Picked up - with his bare hands - a loose cherry tomato that had rolled out of its container onto the bar, and put it back with the other cherry tomatoes. I alerted the manager, walked him over and showed him exactly what went down, and ID'd the perp. Manager said "He knows better" And I said "Really? I don't think so. That's gross, its Food Handling 101. I won't be using your salad bar anymore". Customer at the salad bar witnessed our exchange and nodded her head in support. Manager said "I apologize" but no offer to pay for my lunch from the hot bar. read more
