The one con to the space however is that there's a bunch of mosquitos inside. In the span of ten minutes, my friend and I were both bitten four times. If you're sensitive to mosquito bites, you'll definitely want to wear long pants and/or a jacket to keep the mosquitos at Bay. The beers here are fine. There wasn't a single beer that was amazing enough where I'd go out of my way to get it again. Although there's a wide variety of beers, most of them are on the lighter side. In term of food options, there was a single food truck parked outside on the day that we stopped by. That said, they do allow outside food. Overall, East Brother Beer Company was fine, but not a standout brewery experience for me.

My nephew said the pretzel was too salty but he is 5 and I do not trust him. I always love all the beers and appreciate that staff will make some good recommendations since there are so many to choose from. And I can't emphasize how grateful I am for lots of delicious non-alcoholic drink options. We ended up using a combination of bar tabs and table QR codes for ordering, and settling up was super easy at the end of the day. In my opinion the staff was above and beyond on such a busy day- they were super nice and fast and I know days like that are probably tiring.

Cons - No employee approached a male dog owner over his pit bull excessively howling / yelping over another dog. A couple yelps, fine. So, dogs are preferred over people, no one on staff to politely ask the man to control the dog immediately? One more thing: the barking was such a nuisance that I and another customer were looking back at the owner to see if he was taking care of it, the customer quipped about the dog going to be attacking him, if anything, I joked that I'd be fine, he then suddenly held up the numbered signage for his order ( w/ metal stand ) saying he was going to hit me with it. ( No light-hearted tone, moreso irritated and aggressive. ) And this is how suddenly bad things happen, how a customer spews out a verbal threat ( technically criminal assault ), linked to an out-of-control situation with a pet owner and his dog and a restaurant that won't do anything about it. Simple Solution: Train employees ( or remind them ) to assertively and cordially request owners to keep their dogs peaceful and quiet. Otherwise, it's sweeping a problem under the rug. Not smart nor respectful of other customers. Being Fair: If you like the energy of a loud restaurant, whether it's music and/or dogs barking, then you should be fine, drinks and all. If you love dogs, yet want them responsibly controlled in an environment where you seek to maintain an actual meaningful conversation, this establishment is a roll of the dice.

The taproom had a nice variety of Asian inspired beers on tap, including a masala chai amber lager and Vietmanese coffee lager. Compared to Dokkaebier, another brewery that specializes in Asian inspired beers, I find that the beers by Match Point are much bolder in their flavors. Simon -- the owner of the brewery, and the other staff member working that day were both very friendly and knowledgeable about all the beers. The space itself is perfect for large groups. It's a real shame the brewery will no longer be around. Albany is really losing out on an incredible business.

My favorite beers were definitely the Jasmine lager, Vietnamese coffee lager and hojicha cream ale. Sad they'll be closing on July 26, but glad there beers will be available at select locations in the area.

They usually let you sample before committing and the staff are friendly about helping you make a choice the fits your want. I've mainly gone when my wife's organization, Vets in Vans, has hosted events there. Apparently the owners of Gilman Brewing are veterinarians/former veterinarians so they continue to support a lot of causes including animal welfare causes.

I love how the East Bay/Bay holds so many large and somewhat isolated islands/communities (Mare Island, Treasure Island, Alameda Island..). Each region holds so much history and also, really cool businesses like Mare Island Brewing Co. There was a super cool weekend community event here recently organized by the local Vallejo fire department with art/food/music and more, and it was such a cool vibe. There's so much space out there for the kiddos to ride their bikes/scooters safely, and so many cool activities like learning all about the maritime culture out there, singing shantey songs aboard the C.A. Thayer, fresh brews and yummy food, and if going on a specific weekend, maybe a cool event to pop into. We were surprised by how many people were out there at the brewery ~ it was such a beautiful day with great weather and great service/atmosphere. Seems like the Mare Island Brewing staff have nailed doing events here, and all the components for a fun time out, since it's a drive for anyone coming from different directions. All in all, such a great time out. Would love to come back and try a beer flight (beer is made on-site and is so fresh and crisp), house-made cocktail, or even the burger which looked delish. If that had been made clear upfront, I never would've ordered it in the first place. Pretty frustrating to find out after the fact. The view is honestly great -- probably the best part of the whole experience -- but it didn't make up for the lack of communication.
