Oriental House is always my go-to Asian restaurant in the Upstate. Why? Their Mongolian beef is the best I've ever had- it's loaded with onions, has a sweet and savory sauce with minced garlic, the beef is tender, and the proportion is big. The fried rice always hits. The eggs rolls are also the best I've had- always crunchy, flavorful, and packed full. Best part though? The bottle of shrimp/yum yum sauce they put on the table so you can add your own. No more asking for more little cups like elsewhere! It tends to be busy, so plan accordingly or plan to wait. Always clean, friendly, and well worth the trip. read more

Went to Oriental House Friday March 20th to grab some good Chinese food and don't think I ever got the Honey Chicken before and was very pleased with my food. The sauce on the chicken was great, the chicken was crispy, and the fried rice was even superb! Service was pretty good too. Definitely would come back and get the Honey Chicken again. read more

The food was so terrible, it was almost comical. I ordered a vegetable lo-mein and a beef and broccoli with fried rice to my hotel room. I got a lo-mein with 3 pieces of broccoli and tiny handful of shredded carrots and maybe 5 green onions? Then i got brown rice instead of fried (i wish i were kidding. This was not fried rice at all. There were no vegetables in sight, simply pure brown rice. Or perhaps a horribly undercooked white rice with some kind of brown sauce? Lol). Then the beef and broccoli were DROWNING in a sticky sauce that I couldn't stomach nor could identify. You would need to chug a bottle of water after tasting this. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. God just thinking about the food makes me nauseous. read more

So for me the food was good but the service was basic. My downfall was there was a piece of metal from the cleaning brush in my daughters lo mein. This really scared her and worried me for future eats. The portions were really good along with the prices but I think for safety reasons I may steer away from this eatery. They did take it off so I didn't pay for it but still scary. read more

I ordered crab rangoon and the chicken, green beans, and onions. It was delivery, but it arrived hot and delicious. I have to say that I was really impressed with the taste of this food. I ordered the chicken because it came in a Cantonese style Brown sauce, which I think is hard to find sometimes. It was perfectly balanced, and there was a very generous amount of chicken with the beans and onions. This will definitely be my go-to place as I have zero complaints about the food. Not good, at all. Wish I had yelp'd before ordering from a 3rd party app for delivery. Ordered hibachi shrimp and rice, it was room temperature and dry. Sure, with delivery temperature is going to be tricky, but this looked and tasted like it had sat on a shelf for 24 hours. The Singapore noodles I also ordered were basically the same quality. Ordered out tonight...Shrimp Singapore noodles for me and Shrimp LoMein for my 11 year old. Noodles and veggies were perfect but the shrimp had been cooked waaaay earlier and in waaay too much Soy sauce. They were super salty tasting. The teriyaki sauce is super watery now. Ordered takeaway for 3 egg rolls, large sweet and sour chicken, side of fried rice, and a regular sesame chicken. The total was almost $50! The fried rice was really not good. It was pretty much just their steamed rice cooked on the griddle for a few seconds. The sweet and sour chicken didn't have any sauce with it nor was there any other sauces in the bag. What used to be a great Chinese restaurant has fallen victim to cost cutting and staff reductions. Their product and experience takes a major hit in this. Unfortunately the food is nothing more than mediocre Chinese served in to-go boxes but sold at the price point of a decent dining restaurant. I was unimpressed with the general tso and rice. Stopped in for our first time last night and it definitely will not be our last. The place was packed but we were seated quickly and the service was top notch. This is one of best Chinese cuisine that I have eaten at. The service is exceptional, it is accurate and speedy, I have ordered more "to go" meals than I have eaten in house. I have not waited more than 20 minutes for my meal ever. The restaurant itself gives the impression that one is eating at a Chinese restaurant, the ambience or decor is oriental. Along with the pictures. The only thing that gives the impression that the place is not Chinese is the soft drink dispenser. A coke dispenser. This a great find, with quality food and good service. Very extensive menu, I think you'll find something you like. I had Kung Pao Shrimp with fried rice, a spring roll... it was excellent. They have a window in the lobby where you can watch the chef at work, it's cool. The place was busy, but everything was on point. Looks like a new place, not sure. Long story short: Do NOT eat here. My Large Wok General Tsu Chicken was expired, and disgusting. I told the cashier and she simply asked for the receipt. I didn't get a choice of how it should've been handled. She proceeded to refund $9.50 to the card but the meal was $14 and didn't offer to remake it. This was my first and last time here. read more

Highly recommend this place , service is always great , and the food is delicious which means you may be waiting for a table if your timing is wrong . We showed up for lunch on a Tuesday so maybe that's a good day as we got seated right away. I had the shrimp bowl and I have to say it was incredible. read more

Sorry to say, the quality has really gone down here, and this is no longer the trusted favorite it was for several years. The food quality has slipped a lot, so much so that nothing I order ever tastes very good. I call this food tolerable at best; it is not something I would seek out. The service quality has also gone down. I used to get reliable, speedy service from the same team, visit after visit. That team is all gone now, and the service is lackluster. Considering all the old faces are gone, I wonder if they sold the place. A posting noting an application to sell alcohol (which they used to be able to sell) also suggests they've sold it, and maybe the new owners have to reapply for this. One positive thing I can say is that the portions are large. Other than that, there's nothing I really like here anymore, so I doubt I'll be back. read more

Our go to take out Chinese food place especially when going home from the hospital. Oriental House is definitely an Americanized Chinese and Japanese place, but it's so many steps up from the typical Chinese take out. Their fried rice and chow mein is quite good, not just rice or noodles drenched in soy sauce pretending to be legit. My usual is the chicken and broccoli which is always good. My fiancé the big carnivore always orders the triple delight with shrimp, chicken and beef. The portions are generous and can definitely last a few meals! read more

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Worst food ever. Overly priced. They don't care about their customers. You come I , pay, and sit there forever waiting for your food. We waited 30 min or more for our food. This place needs to close or stop letting people come in to sit down and eat. You order, they call you up for your food that is prepped to go. You have to get your own drinks. No customer service what so ever. I'll NEVER GO BACK!!! A wasted meal, waste of time and especially money. read more

The Pad Thai is the best I have ever had. It is just the best I have ever had, period! Every bite is a good as the first. Fresh, light, lemony, the proteins are cooked separately with care as to not over cook any one ingredient. I had the house Pad Thai with steak, chicken and shrimp. Nothing was overcooked or under cooked and everything tasted like, well it should. It was simply the best Pad Thai this 66 year old man has every had. And that includes a tour in Korea where I visited Thailand on a regular basis and enjoyed every version you can imagine. So from Asia to the states, this is hands down the best I've ever had, anywhere, ever! You should really try the Pad Thai! Btw, this is the perfect leftover to have the next day for lunch because unless this is your only meal for the day, you're not going to finish a whole portion in one sitting. I'm a big guy and I can only put away half to 60% so it's the perfect lunch portion as well. The best part is it's almost just as good the next day, just don't hammer it in the microwave and add a few peanuts and it will be a tasty reminder of the the previous evening or whenever you first had the best Pad Thai you've ever tasted. Just went yesterday for there for the first time in a while and since Covid. I got the orange peel chicken with lo mein and 2 chicken egg rolls. The chicken was yummy and little spicy and the lo mein was awesome. Could have eaten way more lo mein. The eggs were not as good as I remembered for some reason but it could've been an off day. I'll definitely be back. Also, since Covid they take your order up front when you come in and then you sit. No waitresses and real plates and utensils. It's like ordering to go and eating it their and making your own drinks. Fine by me. read more

Have been getting take out from Oriental House for years. Lately, the food quality has gone downhill. Tonight, I ordered Eight Treasure Chicken, but only received "six treasures"...no peanuts or cashews. This is the 2nd time in the past few months they've left out ingredients. The peppers and chicken were also overcooked. The front desk staff is very friendly...the folks in the kitchen need to step up to their level. read more

My husband & I went here for a few years, food was always great quality in both taste & appearance. Never minded that we pay more there, it's quality food that is worth it. Moved back home to Florida for last 3 yrs, we're back here in greenville now and we came here and the food was not good nor appetizing to the eye. The general Tso breading looked GROSS, like some cheap stuff from the frozen food section in grocery store.. seriously...chicken was extremely stringy, not normal looking at all.. One thing I can most definitely say is SOMETHING HAS CHANGED. And not in a good way. Not the same food quality, taste, appearance. Maybe new owners serving sub par food? Or same owners cutting costs starting with their food quality? We would've felt better eating Mcdonalds, and paid less. Sad cuz this was a 5 star spot in our opinion. On a good note, their crab Rangoon was great. Oh n I never have been one to take time to do a review, but this was a MUST, it was so blatantly awful. Never going back, loyal customers lost. Gave them 1 star only cuz a 0-star is not available don't waste your $$$ read more

I'm really sad that the old Oriental House vibe is no more. OH is now counter service, and all the food is served in to-go containers, and there is no wait staff. More expensive, smaller portions, plastic utensils. Was $28 plus tip for two lunch combos, and half the serving size it used to be. read more

The best Asian food in town! My favorite place! The portion sizes are huge enough for two. My favorite dish is Beef lo mein noodles. I also get the vegetable roll. My daughter loves their sesame chicken she gets it without the onions and peepers and they always accommodate. The service is top notch. Pricing is good. I was surprised how crowded this place was for lunch during the week; although, they never disappoint. Service was wonderful. Although, not your typical "affordable lunch". I always LOVE getting their fried dumplings and crab rangoon for the table! Today, we shared a hibachi bowl and at $10-12 it's way to much food for lunch. Get the hot Jasmine tea with honey, it's delish! Also, they have the BEST fortune cookies you will EVER taste! Yes, I said fortune cookies that are REALLY tasty and I don't even eat sugar. YUMMY!! P.S. Also, I learned today that they do not use MSG in any of there food. read more

I have worked many long hours over the years in an effort to provide our customers with healthy dishes made from the freshest ingredients. My kitchen makes every dish to order. This allows our customer the opportunity to receive their order exactly the way they want it. I eat healthy, my family eats healthy and I don't think we should have to compromise quality consumption for convenience. We come in early and stay late everyday rolling eggrolls, spring rolls, rangoon, slicing fresh meats and chopping fresh vegetables. I wish I could remember her name because she was the only good in the restaurant-her and the drinks! The food was very bland and totally lacked any flavor. Even the runny sauces were tasteless. The chefs kept passing food from one grill to another which, in my opinion, was not very sanitary. In addition to being bland and tasteless, it was expensive! Our bull was over $150 for three entrees and 2 drinks. I don't mind paying for a good meal. So paying for a bland tasteless meal, really bothered me. I would not recommend this restaurant at all. Try Miyabi's, Konnichiwa, or any where else!

I felt bad because I was there almost at closing but they seemed unbothered and still provided their friendly service that I've experienced several times. The food was wonderful, just as expected. The carrots always hit the spot. I don't even like carrots like that but the way they make them with whatever magic they put on them is phenomenal! They are also doggy approved ... Sophia goes bananas over them! It's the most consistent hibachi spot I've ever visited. (Based on my own personal experience) The portions are large.
