China star is a great hole in the wall Chinese place. I said this because they are so hidden away from public that I never would have know they were there if I didn't visit the local convenient store across the street from there. I've been treated very nicely here and my food is always freshly cooked to order. The owner is very nice and the restaurant is clean. It is local and convenient to the local people here so that's good. I've had the teriyaki chicken & shrimp w pork fried rice and the white sauce they sell is amazing! It was piping hot fresh and delicious! The chicken wings are so good & im always down for cream cheese crab wontons & egg rolls are yummy! I recommend this Chinese restaurant to locals and it is inexpensive as well! I'm always greeted and I'm always told thank you when I leave and that means a lot in customer service. I'll definitely return but I pray for them a better space to run this business because the parking lot is run down and I wouldn't call this upscale. It's just a local Chinese place for locals here in the berea area. It's never really that busy so your wait won't be long at all. The food is good and the people are nice and the establishment is clean so I keep returning and just wanted to thank them for their great service! Everything we have had has been excellent. This isn't a place that will drown your food in some mystery sauce. The food is fresh, authentic and flavorful. It's like one of the good Chinese restaurant from days gone by. The portions are large and the menu has everything you could ever want. The have both dine in and carry out and the service has been great. Try the app if you are ordering online, it's super intuitive. I almost hate to tell everyone about this place because I am sure once everybody discovers it I will have to wait in line to get in. The plaza it is in is older and sparsely rented but the inside is large and new and clean. This is a real hidden gem! read more

The food was really good, definitely could tell it was fresh. Restaurant was clean and the person who served me was very kind. Would have given 5 stars except I ordered steamed dumplings on my phone order; When I got there it wasn't on my order so I asked if they could make some and was told no. I was willing to wait-and of course pay so I didn't see the issue. Maybe she didn't understand what I meant, but because they weren't willing to whip something up she said would take 7 mins, I've deducted a star. Would eat here again. read more

This is our go-to Chinese restaurant. Everything's always fresh and the staff is great. We especially love their General Tso's, Sesame Chicken, and Shrimp and Broccoli. The shrimp are large and the broccoli is perfectly cooked with a little crunch, not mushy and overcooked like some. I like how they do Lo Mein noodles and rice in their Combo plates - it always hits the spot! read more

I remember when this place was called Rice Bowl and at that time it was the closet Chinese take out near and the food was great. Than u found out it Rice Bowl was gone and it had become China Star with new owners. Didn't order from there for awhile until one day the family wanted Chinese food so we decided to try it out and let me say right now that I'm glad we did. The food is so good and delicious. I haven't had anything bad from their yet. The item we get a lot is the Honey Chicken which is I would have to say the best Honey Chicken I've had. Just today I decided to try something different and had the Chicken with Black Bean sauce and it was so good. China Star is a little pricey but its worth it no doubt. I would suggest this place to anyone who wants to try a new takeout spot. read more

Wow. I've been coming to this place for a while, but the young guy who answered the phone today was extremely rude. I actually heard him say, under his breath, as I asked for their soup selections, "you're waisting my time." The food here is really good, but not worth it. No customer should be spoken to like that. I contacted the owner and she didn't have much to say about it. She said he was not talking to me, but another customer. That didn't make me feel any better. The former owners of the Wok Inn have been sorely missed by the Paris Mountain/Furman community since they sold the restaurant about 3 years ago. My family was thrilled to learn that they had opened a new restaurant, China Star. Tonight was the first visit to the new restaurant and it did not disappoint. The superior food and service was just as before. This is the best Chinese food in the Upstate. And the owners are some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. read more
