The lo mien had a funny taste to me but that could have just been the water in the area. The lady stocking the bars understood rotation, she pulled each pan out, put the new one in and poured what was left on top. My only complaint was that they had a kid (10 or 11) on the cash register. He did not know what an itemized receipt is and had to get help. If that was the only problem, we had a good day.

Not in the mood for pizza (again), so what else is there in little old Auburn, Indiana? That is a…read moregood question! We decided perhaps Chinese food would be a good choice. We had three places to choose from (Oriental Gourmet and Peking Buffet) being the other two. No good reason originally for choosing China Buffet other than I saw it first while driving around town. When we called the number to order ahead I was greeted with a "Hello?" and that was it. No "Hello, this is China Buffet" so I said "oops wrong number" and hung up. Both the phone book and their carryout menu list the number I called. Once I arrived there I believe it was the young girl (middle school age?) who answered that one. So be on guard if you want to call in your order. The place is easy to get to right off Seventh St. in a little strip mall area. Plenty of parking. Make sure to enter the strip mall to find the door to China Buffet. Inside it's your typical Chinese restaurant decor. They do have a fish tank, which I've never seen in a Chinese place before. Unfortunately it's right near the cash register and there's no seating there if you were hoping to entertain little ones with fish-watching. Place looked clean and nice. I was pleased to hear Chinese being spoken. I thought that was a good omen. The woman and her daughter were polite, kind, and easy to communicate with (which as we know isn't always the case when getting Chinese food, let's be honest). At this point we're at a 4 star rating. Easy to get to, nice employees, clean, food came in a reasonable time, etc. The woman even threw in an extra egg roll on my way out. I ordered the Orange Chicken with white rice and my husband had the combination General Tso's. The Orange Chicken was supposed to be spicy. It wasn't. Either they forgot to put the rice in my order or they don't actually put more than a grain or two in it. Not sure which, just know there was no rice. My husband kept saying "it lacks flavor." I would agree. I had enough left over for the next day, but opted to throw it out instead of eat it. Very disappointed. Given that we choose a restaurant based on their food quality/taste and not on their service or lovely fish tank, we won't be going back. Just drive a little further West on State Rd. 7 and head into Garrett to have much better Chinese food at Chef Peng's.

Vegetables and Tofu $14, Chicken $16, Beef $17, and Shrimp $18 We had the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Pad See-Ew. The Pad Thai had the best flavor, and then the Pad See-Ew, and I really can't recommend the Drunken Noodles. We got the Drunken Noodles medium spicy and the other two mild, but I couldn't taste any spice in them. I really wouldn't recommend getting the noodles here, but if you had to pick one, get the Pad Thai. Now for the good part, the sushi! Now, I was planning on trying everything and just making a giant list of what's so good, but I apologize, there's so many good ones that I just forgot my nit picking on certain rolls. You really can't go wrong with any of the rolls. I haven't had a bad one yet. I'm going to list all the rolls I've had, but really, just pick your favorite fish and I'm sure it'll be good. We stuff ourselves with so much sushi that we don't leave room for dessert, but I really should get that cheesecake again. Go here!

Not too hard to find with plenty of parking. The place is moderately large and can accommodate a group of 6-8 pretty well. The inside is decorated nicely to fit the Thai flair. Things were clean, orderly and food repairable for a small shop. Don't be alarmed if dishes sit on tables unbused for a while. It appears that they only have one waitress/host/bus person. Things sat a long while on this busy visit. The menu is fairly large and has many of your standard Thai dishes. The prices were reasonable. You feel like you got a good value as the portion sizes were decent and most things came with soup. The soup was your standard. Not much to distinguish the taste. It was pleasant, warm and tasty. I started with the Tod Mon Goon - which is basically a mashed shrimp patty that is fried. The shrimp tasted fresh and had a nice consistency for smashed shrimp. It was moist. The beading was nice and thick and fried to a perfect crisp. Just enough crisp to know that it was fried. But it did have a slightly heavy oily taste. The breading was thick enough to hold the shrimp together. The white sauce was very tasty. I thought it would be a tropical-coconut flavor. It seemed to be a Mayo tule sauce with a slight fruity flavor. You really couldn't distinguish the flavors. It had a thick consistency and nicely accented the dried shrimp! My entree was the Tom Yum seafood bowl. The bowl was large and contained a decent amount of shrimp, crab pieces, calamari and a couple mussels. All were gently cooked as they were boiled in the broth. The broth started out mild and got progressively hotter in spice taste. The broth was tasty enough to spoon up or pour onto the small rice dish provided. The tomatoes, mushrooms and lemon grass were nice accents to the seafood. Together they all made an enjoyable taste! In general the atmosphere here is very relaxed. We were comfortable in the booths. The waitress let us talk as long as we wanted. Overall a pretty good dining experience.

The bar area is very attractive if that is your hang out. The chips are nice and crisp with only a slight taste of grease. The salsa will on the spicy side of mild with a fine-chopped texture. Both make great starters. I tried the enchiladas supremes. I really liked the cheese and bean enchiladas. Very smooth, easy to cut and nice traditional flavors. The ground meat was okay.
