8 Pieces Fried Crab Meat Wonton

Family has been coming here for quite some time now and everything is still the same. The food is as comforting as I remember it to be. The restaurant has changed inside a little bit and the whole plaza as well. The service is quick and efficient. Definitely a staple in the community! :)

Cute place with a heartwarming backstory. Nice and busy for brunch on a Saturday morning!…read more I got the scrambled eggs with chorizo and onions and it was DELISH. Also came with a biscuit and jam, which were average - the biscuit tasted like it might have been from a box or mix rather than scratch? But not sure. My friend got the Oliver's breakfast which was a large portion, and she also got a blueberry pancake, which was packed full of blueberries and had a nice crispy edge. She also ordered hot tea and got to choose her tea bag from a lovely box, which was a cute touch. The only thing I might say is that the owner was a bit brusque/gruff. I understand being businesslike and I know customers can be a pain in the food industry, but his attitude was just not very welcoming I suppose. Still a good experience overall though! Glad to see Oliver's is doing well!

We…read morearrived at 1:30 PM and were told they stop accepting customers at 1:30, even though their advertised closing time is 2:00 PM. If you stop serving customers at 1:30, then that should be reflected in your business hours. We could have saved ourselves the time and gas driving there. What made it even more frustrating was being told that breakfast was already cut off because they had "sold too much" that day. That was honestly confusing considering this restaurant is known for breakfast, operates during brunch hours, and advertises that it is open until 2:00 PM. We also weren't the only customers being turned away. It was extremely disappointing and felt very unprofessional. If customers arrive during your advertised business hours, they should be able to expect service. We arrived with plenty of time to order, eat, and be finished by closing.

In my experience, beef chow fun at other restaurants often suffers from soggy rice noodles, uneven flavoring, and noodles that stick together. Most notably, other places often use excessive oil that pools at the bottom of the plate. As you can see in the attached pictures, the flavor here was very even, and the texture was firm without being chewy. Each noodle was clearly separated, and there was almost no oil pooling at the bottom. Having eaten Chinese and Vietnamese food my entire life, I strongly recommend this place.

Mrs and I were invited to a birthday lunch there. The host ordered a variety of Chinese and…read moreVietnamese dishes for sharing, family style. The appetizers were grilled beef spring rolls, shrimp spring rolls and egg rolls. All the rolls were fresh and tasted really good. The fish sauce was not watered down. For the main courses, the host went with one Vietnamese dish, Shaking Beef and three Chinese dishes - General Tso Chicken, House fried rice, Snow Pea leaves in Garlic sauce, and Bird Nest crispy noodles. The only good tasting dish was the Shaking Beef from the Vietnamese menu. It was savory and tender. The other dishes were from the Chinese menu, a horror show except for the fried rice. The General Tso Chicken had no spicy taste at all. It tasted like sweet and sour chicken. House fried rice was fine, no one can mess up fried rice. The garlic taste of the Snow leaves was MIA. Also, the leaves were tough and chewy. The noodles of the Bird Nest Crispy noodles were oily. There was barely any sauce to cover the noodles. So we ended out eating oily and dry noodles. The table service was lacking even though the restaurant was not busy. The host made it clear to the waiter that the foods were to be served family style, since multiple servings of the same dish was ordered. With the serving of the appetizers, no individual small plates were given, we had to ask for them. The entre servis was no better. Again we had to ask for dinner plates and there were no serving spoon with any of the dishes. We waited 5 minutes to get spoon and plates. At least the busboy kept our water glasses full. My wife and I definitely will not return

When you pickup your food, the sit down area is dark, and there isn't much of a waiting area. It looks to be run by two folks, the cook and the cashier. It is probably best to order over the app, as the one cashier is busy packing the food in the fancy packaging and dealing with the money transactions. Since it is only two people, it can be slow to get your food when it is busy. I waited an additional 20 mins from the projected time it was suppose to be done. As for the food, the miso ramen was packed in this fancy box. The box contained the soup separated from the noodles with a few side dishes. I believe this is the only vegi ramen they offer. It is nothing special. The broth is basically miso soup with soy sauce. (2 out of 5) The cold sesame noodles was better. It had more flavor. (4 out of 5) The Salt & Pepper Chicken was good (4.5 out of 5). I couldn't help eating it while in the car, as it smelled so good. The Braised Pork over rice was decent. It was cut up thick pork belly, braised in an Asian brown sauce. The flavoring was a little one sided. (3 out of 5). I'm giving this place an overall 3 stars because the food isn't something to rave about. Packaging and presentation were great, but tastes was more important to me.

While they seat and serve even large parties (I've visited with up to 12 people on a regular basis) with impressive speed, the quality of their food simply is not what it used to be. On this most recent visit I ordered a Pork Bahn Mi. The pork had absolute zero char, which I believe is integral to the sweet and savory char-grilled flavor promised in the menu description. As a result, the meat tasted as if it were stewed in an overcrowded pan leading to a rubbery texture. At a previous visit my baguette was also soaked and soggy, as if the pickled vegetables hadn't been drained before being added to the sandwich, then left to sit before service. I used to regularly order their pho, but have moved away from doing so as it tastes very average. On one hand their broth is consistent and does the job, especially if you are in a rush, but on the other hand is has no notable characteristics to speak of. Its aromatic blend doesn't particularly stand out and the broth doesn't have the deep flavor I would expect from Southern-style pho. The staff is always helpful and accommodating to the large parties I visit with. They always look busy, though not in a way that bothers me, and it's easy to see why when you consider the rapid speed that they serve food and clear tables. Overall, Pho Ben does the job for a quick bite of Vietnamese food. Even with larger parties, I've never had to wait longer than ~15 minutes for a table, and once seated, food typically arrives in ~10 minutes. However, due to its declining quality, it has fallen off my list of go-to spots in Sugar Land.
