It comes with 2 courses or 3 courses set lunch. The main is either salad or sandwiches. We ordered a grilled chicken avocado salad, and one grilled chicken sandwiches. One set with cream of mushroom soup, while the other set with mango cheesecake. Let's briefly talk about the service, it is not great because not too many waitresses. Even we have a bit problem to ask them over for ordering. The preparation time for the food is also very long time compared to other hotel restaurants. The good side is the portion and taste. Portion is huge, and taste is good. They also didn't remind us for complimentary tea or coffee. By the time we finished, there were lots of people for afternoon tea or drinks. Follow up with the complaint on the service and the preparation food time, the manager invited us back to the Lobby Lounge for afternoon tea. This time by far way better than yesterday lunch experience. The table was set up properly with 6 seats. The manager also serves us personally during the whole time. We feel welcome this time. The tea set comes with fusion Korean style savouries and sweet. The tea set is creative and taste is good as well. Definitely worth a try!

We worked through lunch hour and decided to have the high tea here. I like the Shangri La high tea, it is bountiful with trimmed finger sandwiches, scones and petit fours. Just right if you missed lunch! Good choice of teas, I like the strong tie kwanyin. And service is excellent, attentive but not intrusive. Best part is the view out to the harbor or in to the people. That day the Hong Kong Tourist Bureau junk sailed across and back. Shangri La and the other hotel at the end of the promenade have the best and most frequent views of this ubiquitous junk. Our school was situated near Morrison Hill and we were about a ten minutes' walk from Times Square. Needless to say, our dining options were pretty endless. Even so, there were days when we were just tired, hungry and didn't want to go far. And on days like this, we went to Derby. Literally about a minute's walk (or less, if you run) from our school, Derby was a very popular option among students in our school. They had very affordable lunch sets in the form of ABCD that changed often. Usually, they were things like beef steak and pork chop, and you could choose to have it accompanied with either rice, spaghetti or potato wedges with vegetables. I usually went with potato wedges, and I would opt for rice on occasions that I felt particularly hungry. Side note - their rice is a pretty large portion, so when I get that I usually ask for less so that I'm not wasting half of it. The food here is nothing super spectacular, but it's not bad. The waiters here are friendly and when you're there pretty much every day a week, they began to recognize us as the students from the school over there and were always very nice to us. Service is quick - food is always served to you within ten minutes. You get a choice of drink with your meal and I usually opt for iced milk tea. I'm more of an iced lemon tea person normally, but there's something about the milk tea here that is just so good! There was this once though that when I was going to the restaurant through the back door (the back door is closer to our school), there was a cockroach crawling on the door! Needless to say, we never used the back door again! I haven't back to Derby in a while, but thinking back on the good ole school days and our countless lunchtimes there, I won't hesitate going back again (this time maybe for a drink - Derby is a sports bar, after all!) if I'm in the area!

Also, the thin crust cheese pizza delighted and surprised: it was actually pretty good for an unassuming casual beach bar! It's the perfect spot for a beer or some food before or after a day at Deepwater Bay, or as a reward for the pleasant walk down to Repulse Bay and back. The food is a standard snacky menu, which matches the atmosphere. The pizza is thin crust and tasty, cut into small slices and great for sharing (a personal favorite). Fries and other items fit the bill for a beachside joint. They have a quality beer selection for a small bar, from the standard Tsing Tao and San Miguels to Sapporo on draft, while other more interesting beers are also available in the beer coolers. A full bar is also available, though I haven't tried their drinks. Perhaps most importantly (for me, anyway), it is extremely dog-friendly and is a frequent endpoint for us on walks or hikes with our dogs. The staff is really kind to the dogs and is always right there with a bowl of water for them (hey, they just finished a hike and deserve a cold one, too!). This is really appreciated, as not everywhere in HK is so accommodating to dogs, especially near the beaches. The only downside is that the prices for beer have shot up recently -- from about $25 to $50 in the span of a year. I'm not sure if it's a seasonal spike for the summer or if their rent went up, but it's a noticeable difference. However, the extra money is a small price to pay for such a laid-back spot, and we will no doubt continue to visit regularly.

As to be expected, the bar serves a pretty standard range of beers, wines and spirits, which is no more or less than anywhere else in this area. However, it does come up trumps with the food. Look, it's not going to be the best gourmet cooking in the world, this is British pub food that we are talking about after all. It is mainly beige foods that have been baked or fried, but there is a very large selection of dishes that will make you pine for England's green and pleasant lands, including; proper steak and kidney pudding, fish and chips, bangers and mash, cottage pie, and a selection of true British delights like pasta and chicken parmigiana - ahem, err yeah! The meals a-la-carte will set you back about HKD150, but the portions are generous. For the best value, come here for lunch, where a main meal with soup or salad starter, will set you back around HKD70. Again, it's not the best you will have, but for a tasty quick bite, it is perfectly good. Be warned, with such a good value meal deal, the HK office workers come here in their droves, so you should book for lunch. My only gripe about this place is the serious lack of English speaking staff. Try asking for a lager shandy, and the spotty 12 year old kid will look at you blankly as though you have just ask for the secret to The Masons. Try and get the nice Filipino manageress to serve you. She at least knows the difference between the steak and kidney pudding , and the steak and kidney pie. Last note, they have quiz nights on Tuesdays, which are always a good laugh, and loads of sports on the TVs. They sometimes project games onto the wall of the neighbouring building.

They politely asked us to come back at midnight and we were amazed to find ourselves actually still out then (which says something for Hong Kong) so we headed over there again. The private party was still happening but we were welcomed to a standing table and ordered drinks. They were good but not as great as the tiki bar in Beijing. The place was spacious and great for dancing but the decor wasn't as tiki as it could be. Service was very nice and very good- they kindly filled up my drink with soda water when I hadn't mixed it properly and was left with straight liquor (it was supposed to be different colors so no fault of theirs for it not being mixed). Getting an Uber or taxi from this place is atrocious late at night. We ended up not going out late the second night we were there because of that experience.

The bar is beautifully designed, appropriately dim, and the nights we were there it was either medium full (late on a Friday) or medium empty (on a Monday), and a pleasant place to sit. The bartender was great, and while he seemed a little hesitant to make something off-menu, the two drinks he made from the menu were good. One was green and had peas in it, and it was a little overpowered by apple juice but still very good. The other was rum and ginger goodness. Ingredients seemed fresh and prepped in-house, the cocktails looked and felt super fancy, the preparation elaborate and careful, etc. Thumbs up. We liked it enough that we decided to come back for the prix-fixe menu, which promises a five-course drinks menu paired with food, with the drinks being the centerpieces of each course. It seemed really, really appealing, but was in the end disappointing. The drinks were fancy and innovative, and beautiful to see prepared and then to look at, but they weren't so great to drink. And the food similarly was beautiful and interesting, but it didn't really pair with the drinks as promised, and overall wasn't so delicious that I'd go out of my way to have it again. Note the prix-fixe menu changes monthly, so it could be a hit-and-miss experience, and given the care that went into it, I could see it being very good some months. But when I was here (May 2015) it seemed like they were striving for wow-factor and presentation over all else. So we got a lot of style but not much substance. As far as style, though, there were highlights. Every single drink and dish looked great, but at one point the bartender lit whiskey on fire and, with the lights dimmed, "rolled" it, pouring it from one cup into another, with the cups about two feet apart, so that it looked like blue fire cutting through the dark, over and over. It wasn't worth the price of the menu, but it was awesome. Note, this place is pricey, but you get a lot of care, style, and theatricality for the price.

Maybe not the most comfortable set up but I'm sure your buttocks will not feel much after a good amount of alcohol. Place is pretty clean, great for a chill night just to sit and hang around with your friends. It's not the same vibe as the ones down the block towards LKF where music's blasting. They've got some pretty interesting drinks such as the Tom Yum shooter and the Purple Yam Rum. Yeah, it's a bit weird to taste tom yum, a spicy and sour soup taste in a chilled drink. The drink barely smells like it either, but definitely tastes like one. My favorite that night was the purple yam rum. I've eaten plenty of purple yam as a kid, that drink has a hint of sweetness and load of childhood memories (if it was a virgin drink). If you're a dark liquor lover, you would enjoy the purple yam rum. The sweetness of yam doesn't mask the alcohol as much as the other drinks. The rich purple color is just gorgeous. Actually most of their drinks have great presentation. I gave their Butternut Rye a try, just that it looked better than it tasted. The drinks here do not get you drunk or tipsy, unfortunately (or fortunately for some). It's not heavy on the alcohol for the most part. The drinks taste good and go down well, it's very easy to add up in cost. 3-4 cocktails and a few shooters could easily add up. I think the shooters are about $100-120, and cocktails are about $130-150.
