We hired Allison Concrete to build a retaining wall behind our barn in 2022. It was next to impossible to get a company out to our property at that time to build the wall, with different companies giving me a variety of excuses. And, then, I called Allison Concrete. Sergio came out and gave me a very reasonable bid and started the work in a timely fashion. We didn't have to wait 3 - 6 months as was the case with more than one company. This year, we had an immediate, and very urgent need, to have a rock retaining wall built due to a failure in the fall by another company. We, again, thought of Allison Concrete in hopes that they could correct the failed wall and my wife's broken heart! Sergio came out "same day" to assess the disaster and see if he could remedy the situation out front. We received Sergio's extremely reasonable bid within 48 hours and quickly hired him to get the job done. Much to our surprise, Sergio put us on his schedule the following week. Within 2 days, Sergio and a helper created the most beautiful wall to the point that we could hardly remember the muddy disaster that we had to look at all winter through our kitchen window!! Correcting the failed wall and building a new wall was a big job and took a large backhoe as well as artistic skills to construct, as some of the large rocks/boulders weighed about 2000 pounds. We are looking at hiring Allison Construction for another job that just came up; concrete footings for a gazebo that will be built above our hot tub. Not only is Sergio the epitome of a true professional, he has a heart of gold and has a sincere desire to see his customers satisfied and happy! My wife is extremely happy with her new retaining wall! Sergio is always on time, cleans up his work space at the end of each day and works hard with no breaks that we saw! In a world of questionable contractors, Allison has never let us down or ever leaves us with any questions, doubts or concerns. If you're looking to hire the best, then Sergio is who you need for your next job!

Terrible finished product, at twice the bidded price…read more Upon calling Joe for a bid, he requested the address so he could come out and look at the site before bidding it. (The work site was accessible from the alley so we we didn't need to be home for him to review it). A week later, I texted and asked if he'd been by, and if he had any questions. He sent a bid, which was lower than others and we booked him for the work. On the day of, Joe announced that he was charging us twice as much because he didn't know there was any demo/paver removal involved- which he would know if he'd looked at the site before bidding the project. We were frustrated but agreed because the timing was critical for the next phase of our project. The bid was for 8" deep, with rebar. I came out when he was 1/3 of the way into the pour to discover Joe was pouring 2"-6" deep, with no rebar. When I questioned him, he flatly lied and said it was 8" depth until I offered to get a measuring tape, at which point he admitted it wasn't. He then tried to pour using our uneven pavers as the form. When confronted he noted he'd use an even edge- we afterward discovered he used lumber from our property for framing the pour. There are so many more issues, I wont outline them all. The end result cost twice as much as originally bid, and may need to be jackhammered out so that it can be poured correctly.

The old driveway was removed on Friday. On Monday the forms and rebar was installed. Then the cement truck arrived and the concrete was spread evenly 6 inches deep. The surface was smoothed out evenly. Then, Coca-Cola was sprayed over the surface which prevented the top layer of cement to harden. Later in the day, Joe returned and washed the top layer of concrete away exposing the aggregate. The finished product looked exactly as Joe said it would.

Be aware: Your estimate may be nowhere near your final cost…read more We purchased a house that had a shop with squirrel burrows under it. I called TerraFirma and a couple other companies to get quotes. RJ arrived and I explained the issue. He took about 45 minutes to inspect and gave me an estimate for under $4,000. I was happy with that, signed the agreement, and cancelled the other companies' visits. A date was scheduled for a month later (just before Christmas). The technician Jeremy arrived on time and prepared. He was easy to get along with. A few hours after he informed me that he finished about 1/3 of the shop and that was all the foam in the estimate. He told me that he could stop or continue, but there is an extra cost. I felt like I really had no other option but continue. Jeremy seemed to empathize with the situation I was in and did what he could to keep the cost down. After all was set and done, my $4,000 estimate had turned into almost $10,000. I was unable to get in touch with RJ to talk about it at the time. He left a voicemail stating he was on vacation, but would elevate it with the team. After the new year I left voicemails with Victoria, the project manager, several times over a week and a half with no return call, even though being told she was in the office. I finally explained my issue with the person who answered the company's main line and that I had left several messages with no response. She advised that she would send an urgent note to Victoria and her boss. The next day I received an email from Victoria simply stating the technician had already given me a break and that I signed the authorization for additional work. I understand overages and that estimates are just a best guess, but my final cost was way over twice the original estimate, my calls were ignored, and the company does not seem to be concerned that my project was $6,000 over the estimate. Needless to say, I will not be doing business with them again.

Living in a 30-year-old home for the past two decades we've had several phases of upgrades, but one…read morething has always been absent from a 10x10 slab on our back porch: a hot tub. So, this summer, we decided to move forward with the plan to be "soakin' for the holidays" three months away. The only thing standing in the way of that dream: the slab and its neighbor had sunk a few extra degrees, roughly three inches, at the far edge. We were going to need to shore up and permanently stabilize this slab if our hopes of the (3-ton when filled) tub were going to materialize. I made a quick call to Terra Firma and they had an estimator out within a few days. The pricing was reasonable and had the standard 50% up front 50% when complete-type contract. Casey arrived spot-on at 8:00am yesterday morning and began doing his magic (the process involves boring 1/2" holes through the slab, then using high pressure and heat to inject a molten expanding foam under the slab.) The foam is rated to support about 5 tons (10,000 pounds) per pound of foam material, and....100 pounds later that whole slab is back to following the prescribed slope perfectly, raising almost three inches on the sunken side. He did a great job and was a great rep for the company, explaining what little was left to explain. He kept me up on the status of the (4-hour) job as he went along--because our slabs had previously cracked, he had to gently lift it up in small sections so as to not have the sections separate further. Perfect job. 24 hours later and the patched holes have dried to almost-invisible (see photos). Unless you know what you're looking for, you can't even really see that repairs were made. Now I just need to fill in the pre-existing cracks with concrete patching caulk and we're ready to schedule the hot tub delivery! Yippee! Thanks Terra Firma!
