TLDR: Oregon Dermatology head of billing department does not train their receptionists and thus they have incorrectly billed me for 3/3 of my visits, love getting an extra 110 dollar bill 2 weeks after thinking I paid in full!!!!! I had to go in three times, I paid independently and always in full. Every time they have had issues with billing and a few weeks later I would get a bill in the mail. The first time this happened, I had my follow up appointment the next week. So after paying for that visit, I took the bill out and asked the receptionist about it. She told me that it's an error happening to everyone and that some old guy came in 10 minutes before they closed yesterday about it. She then told me not to worry about. A few weeks later I get another bill in the mail, this one was for my second visit. I called them and on the voicemail they left me, they admitted that is an error on their part where the receptionist simply do not hit the button saying the funds have been allocated. After my last visit, the same thing happened. I called them about this bill and now they are saying this bill is valid and it is because the receptionist did not bill me correctly while in the office. The doctor that assisted me was great and very knowledgeable, but this whole ordeal with the billing department has been ridiculous and I will not be using their services again. read more

I used to be extremely happy with this dermatologist when they were Willamette Valley Dermatology. Their services have significantly declined since the change. It is really hard to reach the receptionist by phone to make an appointment and they often don't respond to messages. They are also rude when interacting with them in person. Additionally, there are long wait times get an appointment and long wait times when arrive on time for your appointment. I will be changing providers ASAP. read more

I've seen Dr Balin a few times over the last couple of years and always found him and the staff he works with to be exceptionally professional, kind and attentive. As an elder woman with Roseacea I feel vulnerable when talking about my skin issues. I appreciate how Dr Balin listened patiently to my concerns and made suggestions and prescribed medication for care. I felt listened to as a patient and as a person. read more

Over the last 10 months both of our young daughters have been to Dr. Richey's clinic. We have excellent health insurance, and they have billed the insurance and invoiced us for any co-pays, etc. I've written several checks to them to cover these charges, always responding within 2 weeks of receiving an invoice. Today 10/10/20202 I received a FINAL NOTICE! Past due for 120 days+, with a large balance. Included was a letter dated 9/24/2020 letting me know that if I didn't pay in full by 10/24/2020 my bill would be turned over to collections. Further, it stated that due my bill being delinquent from this point forward I would have to pay in full at the time of service. I was very surprised by this letter and bill, because I had always paid each invoice I received in my next bills payable cycle, no more than 14 days later. I went back through my checking account and identified each check written to Dr. Richey over the last 10 months. Strangely, every check written was for one of my daughters and none for the other. This prompted me to examine this latest letter closely. How was it that I received this letter and apparently none of the other bills sent for my second daughter's account. A close examination of the letter revealed that for my second daughter they had been using a mailing address that included only the first 3 digits of our address. Thus, 12345 Dutch Elm Street became 123 Dutch Elm Street, and the 3 digit address simply does not exist. It would be roughly 1200 blocks from our location. Apparently, the only reason I actually received this letter was that the postal worker finally guessed correctly which mailbox to put it in. The really ironic thing is that they included a photocopy of the original intake sheet for my daughter, listing our correct address. So it becomes quite apparent that the mistake was on their part. I'm amazed that they never questioned why they received payment for one daughter's account and not the other, and never bothered to pick up the phone and call me. So here we are 4 months later and they are treating me as a deadbeat due to THEIR incompetence. Their bill is now paid in full and we will find another doctor. It appears from reading other reviews that the office staff is a continuing problem that remains unaddressed. If I could give them a ZERO I would. read more

I was very pleased with my initial visit at this office. The front office staff was very friendly and I liked that the initial intake forms were electronic. I saw Dr. Richey and he listened to all my concerns and did the treatments I requested. Other dermatology offices in the area have been reluctant to take care of moles and other minor skin issues with a simple request. So refreshing and I will return! Trish L. read more

The woman who makes appointments is reason enough not to make an appointment here. We returned for a check-up one year out from finding my husband had cancer. When we arrived for our 3:10 appointment 5 minutes late we were turned away and scolded for not being 10 minutes early. When you're dealing with the elderly facing life and death conditions you should have a little flexibility. We've certainly waited our share for our turn in your waiting room. It will be six weeks before we can see the doctor now. read more

I'm trying to be reasonable with this review. I was extremely pleased with my first appointment, which was in the fall of 2020, and would have offered a 5-star rating at that time. Scheduling was prompt, staff were lovely, and I felt confident and comfortable with Dr. Balin. About a year later and I'm due for a follow up and annual skin check as an established patient. Scheduling on November 17th, 2021 and the earliest availability is February 23rd, 2022. More than 3 months out. I inquired with scheduler (very politely) whether this was for a new patient or established - she assured me it was for previously established care. I then asked if they were short providers because I was shocked at the 3+ month wait (this was absolutely not the case last year). At this point she started getting what I would describe as huffy and rude. She curtly stated it was perfectly normal. I asked to take that first available appointment, please be added to the cancellation list, and that I would explore other options in the area or in Portland in the meantime. This was apparently offensive because she nearly ended the call without even telling me the appointment time and all customer service was out the window. I will definitely be looking at other options for a dermatologist if this is the new norm. read more

I am very surprised to read of the scheduling problems other clients had. It seems front office functioning is the big failure point of many medical providers. My experience on the other hand was perfect. I got in quick on a cancellation. The front office people i dealt with were pleasant. The biopsy procedure doctor was reassuring, acceded to my want for a biopsy and i got a good explanatory callback. I live on the coast and it's a 2.5 hour drive. I have dealt with a closer clinics but i feel the 2.5 hour drive was well worth it. I never got the feeling i was just part of a cattle drive. The long drive made it an all-day deal, but if if God forbid i need attention again, this clinic will be my choice. read more

I went in to see Dr. Fix for a simple procedure of removing some possible skin cancer on my ear. The staff was pleasant and I was extremely comfortable during the procedure. Dr. Fix has created a safe, relaxed, and enjoyable atmosphere for her patients and that was evident today. I definitely recommend coming here for all your skin care needs! read more

The only reason I am giving Willamette Valley Dermatology two stars instead of one is because they have been the only doctor/dermatologist that has finally agreed to give me the proper treatment I need for my psoriasis. HOWEVER....this visit was almost a month ago and I still have not received treatment. I have been calling the office repeatedly and playing phone tag. Originally when I went in on Oct 11 I was told that they would contact my insurance to ensure that it would be covered. I was told I would hear from them by that next Monday at the latest. Well...I heard nothing. Called them on Tuesday the 17 and they told me they had not heard from insurance. Ok, I get that. Insurance sometimes takes a while with correspondence. But I would expect at least a courtesy call to update me on the situation. Another week goes by and I still haven't heard from them. Around the 24th I call AGAIN, and I am informed that Insurance has requested more information as to why I should be given the treatment. Troy's assistant I believe, told me that she had the request right in front of her and she would send it in that day. She told me that insurance would be in correspondence within 24 hours. And....again, nothing. I called monday Oct 30 and was told Troy's assistant was not in and that she would give me a call on Tuesday oct 31 Can you guess what happened next? Yep that's right...it is now 11/2 and I still haven't heard anything from insurance or Troy's office. I understand that sometimes correspondence is slow and things are busy but it doesn't take much to extend a courtesy call and update me on situations. I should not have to keep chasing people down to get my treatment, with three weeks of waiting. Also, there is not even a contact form or email contact on the website so I have to continue to play phone tag. Very disappointed read more

I have only gone once and I have no interest in going back. The waiting room was awkward and crowded, with each line representing a different doctor in the clinic and no obvious sign stating that, so if you wait in one line that is not your doctor, you have to go to the other line and wait in that one as well. When I was seen by the dermatologist, she did not ask more than 5 questions, poked at my face for less than 30 seconds, and kept leaning and facing her body towards the door when I was trying to ask further questions about skincare. Instead of being interested, she simply stated a type of acne medication she thinks I should use that is around $60 for a three month supply, however, looking into the medication, Clindamycin, the cheapest place that carries it runs $98. Why was the only information I got from this woman incorrect and yet I'm trying to be seen and deal with a branch of a medical field? Disappointed to say the least and as I said above, no interest of going back, I will find someone else to deal with my dermatology issues. read more
