Once found , we were very pleased to see parking - rare in Edinburgh. The rooms were well appointed , a little small, and at first extremely noisy. We were on the first floor and could hear the clomping of guests on the exposed wood stairs. The breakfast room was also very near our door and I was thinking there was to be no sleeping - but I was wrong. Somehow , magically , the noise didn't wake us - I am a very light sleeper too. Whatever the sound dynamic was in the place - I slept very comfortably and quietly. If we were going to be spending time in our rooms , I would have found the space restrictive but for a good nights rest , it was great. The only other thing I felt was a head scratcher was the bathroom mirror. Very space age, 3-D type design that completely did not go with the decor. The breakfast room was lovely and the food was very good. The hosts are happy to accommodate your every need. They had umbrellas for the rain and a very nifty call button that summoned a cab in under 10 minutes ! It's location is walkable to some things but since you could have your car on property , it's easy to drive anywhere you want to go within a few minutes. Come and stay and enjoy this cozy gem in the midst of busting Edinburgh.

Breakfast is large gourmet and cooked to order including eggs poached, grilled, or scrambled, black pudding, haggis, sausage, potato scone, bacon, beans, ham and far more options. Specials are prepared on the weekends. This meal is so hardy you won't need lunch. Bedrooms are comfortable, clean, and beautifully appointed. The beds are as comfortable as any top tier hotel. The rooms can be blacked out for a very quiet deep long sleep. I slept better here then I have in months anywhere else. Good free high speed internet that is fast enough to stream video. Ross and Kathleen have created a charming experience that we will return to with every visit to Edinburgh.

They had no problem with us checking in a bit earlier than expected. The location is a stone's throw away from the main attractions and has a nice choice of pubs and restaurants quite close (I personally recommend The Dogs, The Queens Arms and Eteaket). The bedroom was also lovely, the bed was comfortable and the boiler with tea and coffee to brew in the bedroom was a nice touch to warm our bones from the nice Edinburgh weather. There's a common living room with books and DVDs. You can take the DVDs to your room, where you have a DVD player. The breakfast was served at the next-door restaurant: Rick's, and while the food was good, the service on one of the days was a bit shabby. We had to wait a lot for our order and half of it was forgotten, the staff seemed like they were having a collective bad day. It's not the best choice if you want to grab something quickly and be on your way to explore the city. Anyway, I'd totally recommend this place and I'll definitely stay here again when going back to Edinburgh. It's very good value for money and a pleasant experience. I was there during summer and was able to use the deck area out in the back yard that over looks the river. Having that extra space outside the room was an added advantage. Jean did a great job of introducing me to the other guests at breakfast - which I appreciated - and the food was excellent and enjoying it in the sun room was a great start to the day. They also offered a Haggis tasting option at breakfast, which I really enjoyed!! As a business traveller I appreciated the strength of their WIFI all over their home. I will stay here again.

The house is beautiful, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the metro stop is just a short walk from the front door, and the owners, Marion and Frank are some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet...it was the perfect place to spend our 2 nights in Glasgow. There is so much to do within walking distance from Ashton, it is the perfect place for those looking to explore Glasgow. The breakfast offerings were coffee or tea, cereals and yogurt, freshly cut fruit, toast, and croissants...no eggs or other hot offerings but sometimes you just can't have everything! Our room was on the small side and Marion offered to let us switch rooms on the second night but for us it was just fine as we really weren't in it much anyways! We shared a bathroom with the room next door which can be a bit awkward at times but everyone staying was very polite and we made it work. Marion even let us park our rental car around back for our stay which we were very grateful for. One notable downside is that they don't offer wi-fi at all which, for us, was a bit of a bummer...but we made do on our phones. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Ashton Glasgow, the location and the hospitality would be very difficult to beat!

A new conservatory was added that serves as the breakfast room. The views over their gardens and the Highland Perthshire are astounding. But the most amazing aspect is the welcome we received. Louise and Struan clearly love being innkeepers and are exceptionally good at it. A cup of tea and shortbreads were immediately offered. Advice on what to visit and where to eat was comprehensive, along with maps and other aids. They seem to always have time to stop and chat and move on to handle the next task without giving you the feeling that you've been dumped. But the breakfasts! Oh my, the breakfasts! Scrambled eggs with haggis. Porridge with cream and a wee dram of Scotch. Fresh local ingredients, their own home-smoked salmon, smoothie starters with fresh fruit and a bit of porridge as a thickener. Everything was absolutely delightful. To top it off, they have a liquor license and sell two kinds of local beers and 32 different single malts. Although ranked number two in Pitlochry on Trip Advisor, there is nothing second place about this B&B. Highly recommended.
