I came to this restaurant based on a google search. I ordered the Pad Thai and I have to say it was the worst I've ever had. Here's a detail of what I got with only ordering Pad Thai; I got all of this included with my meal: Tea: Good Fried Noodles with sweet sauce: Good Wonton & Egg Drop Soup: Good Pad Thai: NOT GOOD- this dish had no taste whatsoever. I had to pour the sweet sauce from the fried noodle appetizer into it for a little flavor. The chicken was chewy, almost tasted like it was undercooked. Pad Thai is one of my favorite dishes, and this one was the worst I've ever had. Mango Sorbet: Bland, but refreshing after having the worst Pad Thai. The server was GREAT!!!! She consistently checked up on me to make sure everything was ok. She was VERY sweet and professional. The establishment charges $35 for a Pad Thai dish. Although it includes all of the extras, I feel they could reduce the price and make it more of à la carte offering. I would have only had the Pad Thai, not all the other options; you're forced to pay for things you don't necessarily want - a bit pricey for lunch. AND, the management was sitting at a table, right where you walk in, with laptops and paperwork having a meeting about menu options. I don't think this was appropriate. Any business dealings they need to conduct should be conducted in an office or other setting where customers don't see them. I have never taken the time to write a review like this, but II have also never had an experience like this one in any restaurant I've ever dined in. Kosher Chinese Steakhouse that works hard to keep diners happy. From the person who greeted and sat us to the waitress and others we were well taken care of. Big group and the food came to keep us happy. Tea was on the table. Crunchy Noodles for dipping. And the mountains of food we ordered ourselves. I couldn't resist the pastrami egg roll appetizer which was a fried pastrami egg roll sandwich. Two of them were a meal. Like most Kosher restaurants, you're going to be paying the Frum Tax for a Mashgiach sitting around the kitchen reading the Forverts (more on this later). That being said, I've eaten at many Kosher restaurants - mostly Middle Eastern/Israeli - and the food can be delicious. This is not the case here at OG. They were very busy, all tables filled with eager fressers, so the service was a little on the slow side. Got it, no problem. The issue was the quality of the food. In a word, bad. The broth of the WonTon soup reminded me of the over-salted, under-flavored powder you get with Manischewitz Matzoh Ball soup mix. I failed to detect any actual chicken flavor from an actual chicken. The wonton itself was under-spiced and over-wrapped. So, the soup was a big fail in all respects. I had ordered the Beef LoMein, thinking...how badly could they screw this up? The answer: badly. First of all, it was made with spaghetti, not LoMein noodles. Then the sauce was cloyingly sweet with none of the expected Chinese spices called for in this iconic and very basic dish. I left most of it on the plate. When I opened my fortune cookie I was not surprosed by the apt message: "You'll do better the next time." I hope so, but not here. read more

I went with a couple of friends last night. I ordered the Chinese steak. It was 47 dollars. The waiter told me that it was 14 ounces, but I'd be surprised if it were seven. Further, he auto filled himself a 20% tip. Maybe I would have looked the other way at an 18% tip, but 20% was pushing it. When I manually adjusted it to the standard 15% he slammed my receipt on the table and didn't even thank us. Screw him! A gratuity is voluntary, 15% is standard, and after the tiny portions that he served us, he's lucky that he got that. Overall, a very disappointing experience. read more

It takes a lot for me to be this angry and hurt !! I called to order and pick up at 5:55 . The young lady on the phone, obviously did not know the menu, and it took a few minutes for her to know what dumplings were. She told me to wait at least 20 minutes before picking up my order. The young lady, I spoke to came out and said oh yes, I did speak to her. She said the kitchen was backed up at first. After searching and looking, she said she did not hit Send, and it had nothing to do with the kitchen being backed up... Then she told me the computers had gone down, with the other gentleman said they had not. Since I had visitors staying from Israel and I live in Boynton Beach, we eat at this restaurant every time my family is in town from Israel. This was the first time we were taking out. She said I will give you 15% off. Then she told me she couldn't find the order in the system again. I asked to speak to the owner. A young man came out with a young girl with long blonde hair... Did not apologize for anything and tell me my order would be ready in six minutes. Did you ever have a great meal? Come out in six minutes other than McDonald's? It came out and he more or less threw it on the counter and said here's your food. I asked for an extra bag of noodles and the girl with the young blonde hair said that'll be a dollar. I looked at her in total disbelief and said you're 40 minutes late with my food, you're not apologetic and you were charging me an extra dollar for a bed and noodles? The gentleman at the table and the owner started laughing as I was walking out... Just imagine what that felt like and that type of customer service or lack there of. I turned around infuriated and I looked at them and I said you were laughing at me and he looked at me and he said yes we are... So I say to all of you there are other loco Chinese restaurants that are really good in the area. Hadn't been there in a few years. Just returned from eating a wonderful meal Had the Delmonico steak medium rare.................PERFECT! An exceptional piece of meat prepared the way, IMHO, a steak should be In a Salamander oven which allows the meat to be broiled at a much higher temperature than a traditional oven. The two owners, were handsome young men, and there were a few Chinese servers. we had a great time. the table next to us had four ladies that were rude and antagonistic...just looking for an argument. Take a night off and just order yourself some great Kosher Chinese food. I am a pro chef with a culinary degree and decades of experience. I order from here when I just want to take the night off for my own family. The food is consistently good, service is great. We have been able to have our "standard order" where we get the same things every time. When we have dined in, we always see ppl we know from the community in the restaurant. This is decent kosher Chinese food. Our server was efficient and professional. I had the early special and enjoyed cashew chicken with white rice. It was tasty and I would order it again. The hot and sour soup was to my taste inauthentic but decent. The vegetable egg roll was a bit bland, but also decent. My wife ordered the General Tso's Tofu and said it was delicious. First time back in several years but my daughters family go quite often and enjoy their meals. My main complaint is the service. To start off our server spilled an entire glass of water on the table , floor and a bit on me. You'd think they would at least comp a small item for this inconvenience but nothing even offered. My family are usually large tippers for quality service but beware since they add 18% gratuity to the total bill and fail to inform you of this upon handing you the check. We actually ended up double tipping and if not for my son it would have gone unnoticed. Naturally nobody said a word and we had to request this addtl $ be returned. I feel this to be quite shady. Diners beware of this practice and keep in mind you do not have to automatically accept %18 and can change more or less to your desire. My daughter will return but we shall not. read more

We have always done take-away from Orchid's Garden, I couldn't even tell you what the dining room looks like! I LOVE Chicken Chow Mein and that's what I always order for myself! It's always fresh and delicious! They don't usually over-salt their food perhaps due to the local demographics but how hard is t to sprinkle some on the food yourself?! My husband usually orders the General Tso's, Honey Garlic or Sesame Chicken dishes. He's happy with all three. The Chicken Fried Rice is delish too with lots of chicken and never greasy. Just came back here for dinner last night. Sure, I get it's wintertime and it was relatively early (right before 6 PM), but I could have sworn I'd just walked in to the senior center. This place definitely attracts an older crowd of snowbirds, so not that I have anything against the elderly (I don't!), but consider yourself informed before you go if you want to be seated within a decent amount of time. That said, I remain a fan of this place. Atmosphere is plain, but casual; the dining area is generally clean, and all of the staff are friendly. It seems to be a wholesome family-run business. They have a cash-only special until 6 PM with a separate/less expensive menu, which is actually a good value. The food is consistently delicious and served fresh. read more

Now lets talk about the food....I payed $101 dollars for under cooked General tso chicken, it was so under-cooked that when you bit into it, it felt rubbery. WE went in on Sunday October 14, 2018 for a nice relaxing early bird dinner. I asked the owner whats with the a/c and she acknowledged that it was hot. The place was sweltering hot. with no air conditioning. I tried to make due as we were hungry so we sat down ordered meal. After the soup was served, I was sitting in a puddle of sweat. I got up to leave the restaurant. funny thing, they wanted to charge me for the experience. I explained to the owner the reason why i felt i shouldn't have to pay for the soup, the owner knew the a/c was broken and did not forewarn before seating. Be aware when you enter. This is an update of my review of Orchids Garden and I've added a star. As others have observed, this is an old-fashioned "Chinese" restaurant that looks like an old-fashioned "Chinese" restaurant, complete with thick porcelain dishware, a pot of tea with small 4 oz. handle-less cups, and deep fried noodles with duck sauce and sharp Chinese mustard on table. Prices are extremely reasonable. Dinner for two, with tip, was fifty bucks. And they have a discounted "blue plate" special pricing scheme for early diners. The soup, as last time, was awful. This time we had hot and sour soup, which was neither, only marginally improved with a healthy dose of the mustard added. The fried rice, on the other hand, was actually really good. Nice balance of meat (we had veal) vegetables, egg and rice, well flavored. Surprisingly we ate the whole platter. The "Beef Nest" was thinly sliced velvetized beef with an assortment of stir-fried vegetables (some, like zucchini, not particularly associated with China) in a generic sauce, presented in a "nest" of deep-fried noodles. We asked for moderately spicy, and it was. Not great, but certainly edible. As I said when I began, I've awarded Orchids Garden a second star, and I would be willing to go back and try other menu items; the competition for Kosher Chinese in Boca is Asia, which, while considerably better, is quite expensive by comparison. read more

The only knowledge I had of this place until now was friends and word of mouth anecdotal horror stories and reviews on other sites/forums with complaints about getting sick there, cleanliness etc. I love Chinese food so after 6 years of living right nearby but taking everyone else's word for it and not even ever seeing the place I decided it was time. I need to go there at least once if only to get the Chinese sickness myself and check it off my list conclusively. Plus I was really craving Chinese. After stopping there Sunday afternoon only to get to the locked door with a sign showing opening hours at 3pm I came back a few nights later. I walked in and ordered pickup/takeout. I was expecting a much uglier place based on the hearsay. Only one table was occupied and the Chinese staff ladies were very helpful and friendly and filled my order quickly. General Tso and Sweet and Sour Chicken were very flavorful and delicious. As good if not better than some of my favorite Chinese places. Egg rolls were simple but good. And my wife even enjoyed the lame sounding steamed chicken and vegetables she ordered which is a tall order, to make that enjoyable. All The chicken tasted fresh with hardly any of those unchewable pieces that I have come to fear ordering Chinese from Kosher Chinese restaurants. (You know those pieces that result in never-ending chewing that eventually results in surrender and you have to spit it out?) I lived off the excessive amounts of food I had ordered in my Chinese craving state for approximately 3 total meals worth over the next 24 hours. Spicy cherry sauce and Sweet brown sauce on the side were both delicious and extra sauce on the side always makes me happy inside. I will definitely be ordering from there again and am more likely to try some things for myself before I just take the Boca hotshots word for everything. I went to Orchids Garden in Boca for a "going-away" dinner with about five friends. For appetizers, we were served hot wings (curry sauce) and egg rolls, which were excellent. Tea, water, and fried noodles were presented at the start of our meal. Various beef and chicken entrees were served, family style. Everything that we ordered was seemingly made fresh and in-house. I left feeling satisfied and definitely full. For those wanting American-style Chinese food done right, for a reasonable price, take yourselves to Orchids Garden in Boca Raton! read more

The food here was pretty good and the service wasn't too bad either. The ambiance of the restaurant leaves much to be desired as it does seem like you're eating in a senior center cafeteria - the walls are white, the layout is strange, it's loud, and you're served on a paper placemat. But, the food is much better than the other kosher "Asian" place in Boca. On price, I do think they're a bit expensive (each dinner entree is about $20) which might be normal, but I'd expect a bit more in terms of decor. read more
