I came in here to have my old nails removed and to get a new set. The lady who was removing my nails used a fake nail tip to pull off my old nails without soaking them or filing them which was painful and not something i've had done before. As she was removing my thumb nail I realized my thumb was bleeding and the tip of my nail was ripped off. She told me to wash my hands and when i came back she tried to continue doing my nails but I explained that my thumb hurt pretty bad and I didn't want to put a nail on top of it so i was just going to leave. She continued to try to do my nails until i explained again that I was not going to get them done. I left and was still charged 15$ for the nail removal. read more

Had I not been in a time pinch I would have found another place. The service was awful. Absolutely flabbergasted after yesterday's experience with Jenny and really the lack of leadership/customer service the other employees possess. I hope Ben cares enough to do something minimally listens. I will be calling. However, consumers should be aware. Yesterday 7 of us went to get a pedicure. Understandable not everyone can be serviced at the same time. We all went to sit as they invited us over. My mom was the last to be serviced. While she waited the water they put in her tub was scolding hot!!! Very hot! To the point she yelled/yelped because it was so hot and complained about the temperature. She literally had to pull her feet right out. Someone did try to add some cold but it was way too hot. She was also not offered a drink when everyone else was. Common sense you are helping all the others offering others drinks ...why not ask her!? She was sitting in the middle of all of us. No excuse. I had to ask my nail tech to find a stopping point and get my mother a drink. The fact that my mom is our queen and it was a mother daughter spa day and she is the one being treated poorly left a bad taste in my mouth. Finally Jenny comes over and my mom is still complaining about the water and Jenny brushes off the comment and begins removing the polish. My mom is I'm pain as she likely received 1st degree burns. My mom ask her to file one of her nails with the e file which Jenny states she they cannot do. My mom has had this done in the past. So I'm like she's gotten it before and now you're saying she can't? Finally she obliged and walked over to her station, station #3. She begrudgingly did what my mom asked. As she began the filing she as began talking shit about my mom and the situation to the girl next to her. To which i questioned my nail tech. He only put his head down and played dumb. I asked him if he understood spanish to which he replied yes. I said okay well i don't understand whatever they are speaking and they are making her uncomfortable. Literally she asked her for a specific service and she said no, now finally said yes but now is talking shit. He was adamant he had only been there a week. And refused to give us her name. As she was working on her feet again my mom complained of pain and skin sensitivity. Jenny proceeded to tell my mom she should go to another salon and began recommending another salon to the point she began spelling it out. Seriously, she was sending business elsewhere. Which we questioned. Everyone of us was in disbelief. Honestly we should have all left with unfinished pedicures etc. Because this was disgusting and even more so because I can't believe they'd treat my mother this way. My mom told them "if I go to another salon they're all coming with me." No one made an effort to rectify the situation. Multiple times in the beginning she said she should receive a discount. She was ignored. Her legs and feet were scolded, she was forgotten about and not offered a drink, she initially was declined a service she's received in the past, and ultimately recommended to goto another salon. Seriously! All this why!? Because she got regular polish and when we first got there she requested to let her feet dry under the drying table vs. Sitting in a pedicure chair for 45mins. Like the previous time. They push for ppl to get gel and let me just say they charge for everything. Gel is not 5 dollars or 10 dollars more. They charge $22 dollars extra for gel!!! What? The same service I pay for in Austin, TX I paid 12 dollars more for the same service here! Callous remover is $5 extra. (None of the pedicures include it. And basic pedi is $32. It was obvious they only cared about money hence why they weren't worried about my mom's pedicure...though she was going to get a lemon drop pedi but after being burned and the terrible service she changed it. All this to say, save some money and take Jenny's advice and go else. So many other salons with better treatment and prices. Orchid Nail Spa/Ben pick one: either be expensive but have outstanding service OR be more affordable and keep your crappy service. Needless to say none of us will be returning. (This is not the first time I've been around and saw the poor service she received as this has been her since December.) No one said sorry or tried to rectify the situation. No discount or apology was given and all of then worked at avoiding/dealing with the situation. None of those people are capable of running that place without the owner. Go Elsewhere!!! I would give this place a rating of 1 if that was possible. Customer service was not friendly. Manger or owner (not sure who he was) was rude as soon as I walked in. Once I was serviced my nails were lumpy, uneven, and horribly shaped. When I provided the nail technician on instructions to fix my nails she ignored my request. Placed a top coat on my nails. This was the first time I've been to this salon and I won't be returning. This is the picture I showed them, and this is what I got. The white part is so much thicker than the photo, and the guy forgot to put the hearts on both fingers. The hearts he did do are deformed and one is bigger than the other. In town for the day and stopped in for a mani/pedi. They were busy for the Christmas holiday but they greeted me very warmly and quickly got me to a chair for my services. They offered a drink and had a great selection of colors to pick from. They are polite and it is very clean and he took his time making sure to give me my money's worth. If your looking for someone to visit with you go to a full service salon or day spa. These places they don't speak English well and it's hard for them to talk with you beyond what they need to say to wait on you. I'm ok with that but I noticed some reviews said something about that . I was extremely disappointed by this experience at this nail salon. I'm from Houston so I have been in the market for a good nail salon. For all the salons in Lubbock this one is probably the worst. I entered the salon at 7:15 and was greeted by no one. One of the nail techs yelled at me to take a seat. No one even asked what I wanted to get done. I take a seat and wait for someone to help me. I help myself to the color palletes on the table and after about 20 min I stood up to take a look at the shellac bottles because I was looking for a specific opi color. I wasn't even touching at bottles just reading the names. The same nail tech yells at me to sit down and not touch the polishes for they are for the techs only. I told him I was just looking and sit back down. I wait another 20 min and around 8 pm I'm finally asked how I can be helped. The lady who did my pedicure was very sweet and that's the only reason why I give this place 1 star. After we get started the guy who was supposed to start at my hand comes and insists that instead of doing the usual thing that I do which is acrylic refill with shellac color change I should get dip powder. He insisted about 5 min until I have in. After I agreed he began to peel the acrylics I had. I insisted 5-7 times that he use a drill or soak because it was hurting but he continued and said there's no time and that he is the "master as removing acrylics" After the painful removal experience, he filed my nails way too short. I told him this and he again said it was too late to fix. He then proceeds to do the dip only for me to see that my nails are all lumpy and bumpy. I told him this but he presumed to ignore me. He then charges me 80 dollars. I wasn't surprised or angry, but the quality of service I got I could have gotten a much better experience for a way cheaper experience. The place was clean and nice, the pedicurist was sweet, but everything else was a joke. I'm so disappointed at this place and will make sure I never come back. I have photos posted on how lumpy the nails look. So so so upset. read more

The wait is so long, and everything is overpriced. I waited here for an hour today with no service. I was there 15 minutes before another girl, and they took her first while I continued to wait. They take advantage of you if you are a younger girl. They mislead you and say they can get you done, but they really don't have anyone ready. So they put you in the pedicure chair and let you soak for an hour knowing it's hard for you to get up and leave. Then they get to you when they actually have time. Very misleading. DO NOT GO HERE!!! first we were told on the phone that it would be $30 for a color powder FULL set and $25 for a pedicure so of course i went. i get there and i am handed the pedicure menu and it's $35 but i didn't care because all the prices were labeled and whatever. I am then told they do not do color powder and only do dip which i only agreed to because i really needed my nails done. I find out later that they do do colored powder but my lady just doesn't like to do it... she kept cutting me you can see in the pictures below where it has bled/scabbed. the powder doesn't cover any of the sides, they are lumpy, deformed, and NONE of them are the same length (even though i kept telling her to fix it). acrylic nails are supposed to be smooth and mine are the farthest thing from it. i will not be going back- not to mention it ended up being $85 for nails that i am embarrassed to have. save your time and your money and go somewhere else. not to mention the lady that i had kept getting annoyed when i said ouch, yet she was making me bleed. read more

Decided to try this nail salon out as it is closer to my new locale. Upon entry, super clean facility with no wait this visit. I got my nails dipped, polish change on my toes & an eyebrow wax. The selection of colors is vast but, they do not carry the color change dip. My technician spent an extensive amount of time on my nails & toes making sure the length, shape & polish was precise & perfect! He was very nice, polite & smiled a lot. They have large TV's to keep you abreast of the latest media updates. Nails turned out beautifully & the thickness was perfect which can sometimes be an issue with dip nails. The eyebrow wax was quick yet produced a great result! Mind you, I had not had them groomed in 3 months so, they did a phenomenal job! This technician tweezed after the wax & I will definitely need to get her name as eyebrows are atop the windows to your soul!!! Here is my only complaint which makes me deduct a star... The price seemed inflated to me; I have been having dip and toes done religiously every two weeks forever & this was significantly higher than the other establishment I frequent across town. Today was my first time here. I debated getting the $35 lavender pedicure and the $45 milk and honey pedicure and decided in the latter because of the callous removal. It was a long, relaxing pedicure, and I was preoccupied with my mom and sisters as well as my phone so I didn't realize until after it was over and I had already paid that I didn't get the callous removal (cheese grater) treatment: the only reason I chose the pricier pedi! Partially, it was my fault for not calling them on it but I'm disappointed they left it out. In addition, she didn't get full coverage on my big toe, which I didn't realize until later. Came to get my nails done and honestly I was quite disappointed and upset. 1. The wait was STUPID long 2. The first nail tech switched me to another nail tech, who didn't even give him the color I picked or anything. Then the nail tech I had was pretty amateur and did not care at all! He proceeded to do what he did and even started painting my nails white. He just assumed I was doing white polish and seemed very shocked when I told him I wanted red. That is what I asked for from the first guy but I guess the first guy seemed so eager to do nails on another person rather than myself. No courtesy what so ever. Tbh it was pretty half-assed service. And it was very rushed! No time was taken for proper service. 3. The nail tech CUT me while clipping my cuticles and it wouldn't stop bleeding for the longest! I thought the way he handled it was very poor and pretty unsanitary. So please beware and I hope they are smart enough to properly sterilize their equipment. The place is nice but the service was just poorly executed. I basically went in for a finger painting. Will never return tbh. My poor cuticles, they look even worse than before. read more

I specifically made a Yelp profile just for this. I treated my grandmother & I to pedicures on 8/15/15. She owns a lawn mower business & I work a full time job, so since she's on her feet M-F, I wanted to get her feet nice & pampered plus we are both diabetics. After a 20 minute wait, we were put in a back room when there were multiple chairs open in front. There was a white couple behind us & we saw that they were able to get two of those chairs. The nail techs did not try to engage in conversation & talked amongst themselves the entire time. They also talked about us because we heard them mention parts about our bodies. After waiting at the drying area for another 15 minutes, my grandmother politely asked the manager named Mike, if her toes were dry to which he responded rudely with, "you can get up & leave!" My grandmother was upset at such a rude statement & then proceeded to asked why were we put in a back room, separated from the front to which Mike kept interrupting her, yelling over her & finally yelled at Kelly, the nail tech who did my grandmothers pedi, to check her toes for dryness. Mikes response as to why we were put into the back room was a lie as Mike could only stumble over his words as he made it up. It baffles me that one ethnic race can think they are better than another ethnic race when they are in the same boat. We work hard for our money just like anyone else but you show favoritism to white people. When we die, we all get the same toe tag in the morgue. We will NEVER go back to this salon. There are better ones who will treat us with the same common decency of respect. read more

I liked this place, but yesterday it just wasn't that good. The service was okay. I got the Lavender service which is $35 and it had a lot to it, so it was worth the money. My technician spent a while on the massage which was nice! But, when it was time for the color on my toes, I'm not sure what happened, but the bottle broke and the polish went everywhere on the floor so they cleaned it up. The guy went and got a similar color but not the same color and went a long and painted my nails. He didn't ask if that color was okay to paint. It wasn't okay. He also put 5 coats of the polish on to make it opaque, which is great that it is opaque, but this morning I woke up and my both of my big toes are completely messed up. I thought 4 hours was plenty enough time to let them dry before going to bed. Also, he kept staring at the image on my shirt and asked multiple guys what it was before even asking me. Yes the image was on my chest, and I understand it. But most people would look once and the ask what it was. Oh well Overall just I satisfied with my service yesterday. I would like to start off with Orchid Nail Spa has the RUDEST staff. I am normally not the one for bad reviews but I gave this salon 3 chances because it is near my house and I can say that I will never be back. The first time I got a dip manicure and the dip came off in a week. The second time I went in I got shellac on my toes and it was so lumpy and I was rushed throughout my visit. The third and last time I went here I only wanted shellac on my nails and I was treated so poorly and my visit was rushed as well. I would not refer this place to anyone. Do not waste your time getting your nails done here. As I have said before I am not the one to write bad reviews but 3 consecutive horrible visits was the last straw. read more

It was a very nice and clean place. We went with a group of 4 they put 3 of us together and the other far away. Then I wanted the shellac and so did two others mine look fine but for $60 extra dollars two look like crap now and it's not even been 2 full weeks. Then 2 got their nails done and omg they are horrible now. I will never go back cause the quality of work and what you pay their isn't worth it. We went here cause our regular nail place was closed for vacation. We also paid about $85 more than we would've at our normal place where they do a fabulous job and are very sweet and amazing. This place is nice, it's clean, it's modern and the staff is super friendly. I would give it a higher rating if I had received a better manicure and shellac. I've had my fair share of shellac manicures and I can spot an inexperienced tech pretty easy. A tell tale sign is applying the coat too thinly and lifting the brush during application too frequently. Oh well, the color was nice at least and with a total of 7 coats I'm hoping it will last a loooong time! read more
