This office and its staff have that smaller town vibe of arrogance; the air of a big-ish fish in a small pond. They don't REALLY care most of the time, they're just practiced at pretending like they do, adept at fooling most who just want to get on with their busy lives. But once in a while someone comes along who just doesn't have patience for their fakery (or is it f*ckery?). Had my initial exam and cleaning a few months ago. Dr Fangman identified a chipped filling that needed an authorization to repair. Staff member Aimee was supposed to send paperwork for authorization (but never did). I spoke to her directly about it while leaving and scheduling my future cleaning. She assured me at the time that she had it under control. Fast forward to now, I sent a short, precise text message to Orange Tree Dental to follow up regarding the authorization. Aimee responded without fully reading what I wrote and told me I must reach out myself for emergency procedures. (this was not an emergency procedure) This means she also did not bother to check my file to see what I was referring to, she simply responded quickly to dismiss the job responsibility. Severe lack of attention to detail. No pride in her work. I called to speak with her. On the phone, she still didn't have the story straight. She called it a cracked tooth, when I clearly wrote FILLING in my message to her. I had to push her to check my file so she could see what I was talking about. This is ineptitude of a higher level, because checking my past appointment record should be the FIRST thing she does. Eventually, she said she would reach out to gain the needed authorization. This did not fill me with confidence; someone needed to first acknowledge and explain what happened after I just waited months for no reason, and someone needed to assure me it wouldn't happen again. Well, Orange Tree Dental doesn't operate that way. They're a big fish, remember. At no point did Orange Tree Dental admit any error or mistake and certainly didn't apologize. In fact, Aimee blamed the dentist, Dr. Fangman for not notating what she was supposed to do (even though she knew it at the time of my last appointment). She expressed zero remorse. No shame, didn't care. No effort to even try and explain how perhaps it "slipped thru the cracks." ZERO accountability and when I called her on it, she deflected with by falsely saying I was being rude. No, she just didn't like being held to account (prob for the first time in a long time). No mollycoddling, this is the MEDICAL profession. This is people's HEALTH. And she FAILED due to extreme lack of attention to detail. Toward the end, she had no problem telling me I could simply go to another dentist. So, ignore their mistakes or they don't need your business. Got it. Hopefully, ever reader here will get it too. So in sum, Aimee never followed up for authorization. Months went by. She never followed up with me or my treatment plan. Wouldn't acknowledge her mistake, and didn't give a single d*mn. (The business obviously should have a system in place in case they don't receive work authorizations. But apparently they don't?) Due to additional lack of attention to detail, Aimee completely fails to interpret my message to her asking about the authorization. Then she blames the Dr when it's HER job and she was aware of her responsibility during my last appointment. Does anyone at Orange Tree Dental really care? Doubtful. I wouldn't have noted it in a review prior to todays events, but the doctor himself was no prize. He kept insisting I needed prescription mouth guards. After 40 years of dentist visits (and braces), I've NEVER had a teeth grinding issue. He just wanted an extra buck from the VA insurance and spent several minutes "selling" it to me, whether I planned to use the guards or not. (All this makes me wonder if they got an authorization for the mouth guards? If so, that would be medical billing fraud. Something to look into when I speak to the VA.) The folks in this office seem to assume people are simply idiots who will go along with whatever they say. They're fairly oblivious to reality but do specialize in lip service. After speaking with Aimee, I cancelled my follow-up cleaning. Now onward to finding another new Dentist. I'm sure Redlands folks appreciate having a dentist locally, but I recommend avoiding this office. Small mistakes lead to bigger ones; if you value your medical care, don't be afraid to find better service out there. Oh, and when I cancelled my next cleaning appointment, Aimee responded to confirm with a MISSPELLED text. There is just no fixing that lack of attention-to-detail. That's what you're going to get at Orange Tree Dental. With a side of no-accountability. No consequences. No drive to learn or become better. And no shame. I'm very disappointed with this office. I have been coming here since I was a child and have continued to bring my wife and children as patients. Dr. Collins has always been an amazing family dentist, and my children see Dr. Fangman. I have never experienced issues like this before. Recently, when calling to schedule appointments for my entire family, I was met with rude and sarcastic behavior from a staff member named Jennifer. I do not appreciate this level of unprofessionalism especially from an office I've been coming to my whole life. I asked to speak with a manager on two separate occasions, but each time I was told the manager was in a meeting or unavailable. This has been very inconvenient, especially during work hours, as l am taking time to call Orange Tree Dental to schedule care for my family. My family will not be returning to this office due to Jennifer's rude behavior. Front office staff should treat patients with kindness and respect, and unfortunately, that standard was not met. The front office could benefit from additional training to avoid driving long-term patients away. read more

I really like Dr. Collins, he seems like a nice guy, however the staff is very pushy and forceful. If you dont agree to let the dr. poke around in your mouth looking for things to make money on, your basically not allowed to come. I only needed 1 thing.. I've been here twice and each time my time was respected as I didn't have to wait a crazy amount of time. The dentist, front desk ladies, and dentist assistant have all been so nice, accommodating, and great at communicating. The care is top quality as the dentist will go out of his way to save your teeth or find the best solution for you. I would highly recommend them especially if you have a fear of dentist as myself. Nightmare experience. Went there to get an implant. After the implant fell, as it wasn't put in properly, and a new temporary implant was put in wrongly, causing significant pain, I desperately went to another dentist. The new dentist informed me that my gums were hurting and swollen because my tooth & temporary implant were never cleaned, material was left behind, and the temporary implant was rough. Moreover, they cut so much from my tooth that the new implant I received had to go in very deep. When I told my new dentist, "I'm just so glad, I am not in pain anymore, " the Doctor answered, "you should have never been in pain!" Shame to all the dentists at this office! read more

I originally found Orange Tree Dental when one of my sons head butted me and i thought cracked my tooth. I called around and although they were out of my network at the time, they got me in same day and didn't over charge me. After such a wonderful experience I changed my dental insurance so i could be seen here and it was the best decision I ever made. I was very self conscious with my smile and NEVER smiled with my teeth. All prior dentists told me i needed braces, porcelain veneers, etc. However, Dr. Fangman suggested a less invasive way and now I smile in all my photos. He literally is the best dentist I have ever had and appreciate all he has done for me. Orange tree dental is very clean and the entire staff is amazing, nice, and always fun to see. This place is so amazing!! Dr. Fangman took time to explain EVERYTHING and I felt so much more comfortable actually understanding what was being done and knowing why I needed the work I did! The girls here are ABSOLUTE angels! From the time I called and spoke to Allie is when my wonderful experience began, she got me in for both of my appointments on the same day and got me in quick sine my insurance is going to lapse for a few months, I could hear her smile on the phone! Marina was Dr. Fangmans assistant and she was so sweet and very gentle with the x rays, those little plastic things hurt lol but Marina it made it quick and easy and I appreciate her! I just had my teeth cleaned at Orange Tree Dental. My experience was excellent! The front office was very welcoming and kindhearted. When it was my turn, hygienist Natalie was immediately, friendly, as she showed me around and walked me to the room. Natalie was very kind and professional, answering all of my dental questions. She was very gentle with my mouth making sure I was comfortable. Dr. Collins is very nice and genuine. He was thorough with his examination and he helped me understand my mouth and hygiene routines. Natalie and Dr. Collins were extremely knowledgeable and gave great advice on oral care between visits. Wow! I can't say enough about Orange Tree Dental. The entire staff here provides over the top treatment and customer service. They provide a quality of care that is over looked in the big corporate dental mills. Dr. Stilson has been my dentist for years when I liked locally. I moved away about 12 years ago and I have not been happy with the dentist in my area. Now I drive from Corona - Redlands for quality dental care. From check ups to cleaning, you are treated like family. I had to have an implant from a cracked crown from another dentist. Dr. Stilson walked me through the process, treatment, costs and recovery. He showed me the latest in Hi-Tech procedures and pain expectation. It was less pain then I was expecting as he will always make sure you are comfortable before he starts treatment. The office is always clean and sanitary. There is always Ice Cold water out front when you enter. Free toothbrushes to clean up before your exams. I love this place. Never had such a personal relationship with any medical professional as you get with this office. Now if only my mechanic and I were this close. read more

My fears were almost instantly dissolved by the amazing front office staff. They are so kind and welcoming, I immediately felt at ease by their friendliness. Dr. Fangman hooked it up!!!! I was very concerned about getting my chipped front teeth repaired because I did not want it to stand out . It was a very small chip . I have been a patient for about 2 years, my husband for about 15-20 years and even my 2 year old son is now a patient and we LOVE this office. The ladies who work in the office, the hygienists and the dentists are all wonderful. I have Dr. Stillson and my husband has Dr. Collins and we both could not be happier. And between the two of us we have had everything from cleanings to root canals to cavities to infections in wisdom teeth and every single issue has been taken care of carefully, thoughtfully and completely by this office. I went to this clinic and had one of the worst experiences ever. DO NOT believe in their so-called "introductory offer" of $149 inclusive of all cleaning, examination and x-rays. It is full of catches that allow them to get out of doing any cleaning at all. I ended up paying $75 just to have someone x-ray my mouth and tell me all the work they thought my mouth needed, which ended up tallying to $800. In other words, this place is a total bait and switch trap. I'm especially hurt because for several years they have taken my mother's business (which is why I came here) but that didn't prevent them from adopting a totally mercenary attitude toward me. My mother's insurance company never put up with any of that from them ever! BEWARE you cash patients. These jerks are just out to swamp you with debt. read more

Dr Stilson is great! I went in today for dental work, and had job interviews I had to conduct in the afternoon. Dr Stilson used a special procedure to numb just the tooth instead of the typical block that numbs the jaw and tongue, so I was able to talk and appear professional within an hour of the procedure. I recently returned to Orange Tree Dental upon moving back to the area. I used to have great experiences with the previous dentist, but not this time. When I made my appointment, the receptionist said she was going to check with my employer to confirm my insurance details. When I went in for my appointment, before I went into the chair, I asked the front desk to check to make sure my insurance was going to cover the whole appointment. After someone went to look at my paperwork, she said that, yes, my insurance would cover my cleaning. When I was in the chair, the dental hygienist asked if I would like to get x-rays. I told her it had been 9 months since my previous x-rays, but that I would only get them if my insurance covered the whole thing. She told me that, yes, my insurance would cover that. So I got the x-rays. A few weeks later I got a bill in the mail for $160. It turns out, Dr. Collins was out of network! And not a single person who called my employer or checked my paperwork told me he was out of network! So, a fair warning to potential patients: Even if you ask several times whether or not your insurance will cover your whole appointment, you may not be informed that the dentist is out of network. Dr. Collins did reduce my payment, which I appreciate, but it's costing me just as much as it would have cost to get a cleaning had I not had dental insurance.
